SMARTEST GU10 BULB EVER! Philips Hue White and Colour Ambience Smart Spotlight LED
Philips Hue White and Colour Ambiance Smart Spotlight LED
Unboxing and setup of the Philips Hue GU10 spotlights with white and colour smart lights. Really am impressed that these bulbs can be used with either via Bluetooth, the Philips Hue Hub and also by the Philips Hue dimmer switch - although with the Dimmer Switch you can only have Warm White and Cool White on the bulbs as there is no way to change it between the other colours expect using the App from your phone.
Let me know what you think of bulbs and whether you think it is worth getting in the comments.

@Ali Cayden lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Rafael Grady yea, I have been using Flixzone for years myself :D
@Rafael Grady thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it!
@Ali Cayden you are welcome xD
Thanks - just adding these to my existing lights via the Hue Bridge. Very informative and comprehensive review.
Glad it was helpful!
What a bridge ?
Lovely videos mate! More Philips Hue videos would be awesome :)
Thanks sure, will be more coming soon.
Buena review! el control te vino con el foco? o debes comprarlo aparte?
Amazing content and explanations 😃
You're welcome.
Great video 👍
Thanks!
Wow thank you very much for sharing this video. I was just wondering however what is the power output/ wattage this Philips smart bulb GU10 bulb is?
Do you know what brand your downlight fittings are? I like the twist fitting of the bulb. All of mine are just flimsy rings that hold the bulb loosely.
These are Gu10 bulbs
I some dusk till dawn lights out the front of my home. They come on as it gets dark but I want to be able to switch them off around 12am-1am
I think these would be good - whats the IP rating on these
Do I need a separate ballast to use the product?
So if I install these and set the color with the app via bluetooth, if I then use the wall switch (that is, NOT the Philips remote) to turn the lights on and off, will it memorise the settings I entered in the app? I don't see myself using an app to switch on and off the lights, I would like to use the wall switch for that.
Are these lights the only ones compatible for google home? If not, what lights are available?
Hey man thanks for the video! I was wondering I am redecorating my bedroom at the moment, going to be getting these bulbs for my bedroom. Do you think 9 will be enough to light the entire bedroom. Each of these bulbs are rated at 350 lumens (new version in your video) so that would be just over 3000 lumens added together. Just a bit worried if they will be bright enough to light my bedroom as I want to use the chrome downlights like you have. E27 is not really an option for me as I hate those old fashion pendant looking lights, going for a modern look like you have. Also can you tell me where you got your chrome downlights from? They look amazing!
Thanks for the comment, brightness levels should be fine, but it all depends on the size of your room on how many lights you'll need. Make sure you look other options. The Philips hue is great but I feel the price is unrealistic, just too expensive.
I personally use these bulbs:

The gu10 fitting is a fire rated gu10 fitting and you can buy these from any DIY or electrical shop. Hope that helps.
@@GeekStreet Ah many thanks dude!
You're welcome buddy!
Hey Geek your greatest fan
Thanks for the support bro.
@@GeekStreet you are welcome
Fantastic review 👍 , there is a little feedback on your mic
Thanks for the comment much appreciated, oh didn't realise about the feedback where did you notice that?
@@GeekStreet on the table cam
Great video. Just what I was looking for. Could you tell me what light fittings you had in your ceiling. They are just what I’m looking for in an extension I’m having built. 👍
Thanks for the comment, the fixtures are firerated gu10 holders. Hope that helps!
Gracias!
Hello, I have bought gu10 Philips hue and one stoped working After 15 days. I don't know what could have been the problem with it, tried changing it to another place where other gu10 work properly and it just doesn't light up anymore :(
So just to confirm, I do not need anything else but the lamps themselves if I wish to purely control the lights by the app on my phone? No need for the Hue Hub etc.?
Yes that's right. You can do via the app but you must have Bluetooth turned on.
Clever
Thanks for the comment!
Great stuff. Quick question. Can you run both apps. So have them linked via bluetooth and the WiFi. I just don't always have bluetooth on.
What happens if you don’t have your phone? Who wants to go to their phone everytime they want to put light on and off or dim them ?
hi, what GU10 downlight fittings are you using in this video? where can I buy them?
Check this out amzn.to/43k3Yst
You can change the color using the remote. You have to configure it using the app.
Thanks for the comment, i'll check it out at some point.
Are these bulbs use a converter or voltage regulator?
Or can I replace the e27 socket in my house with the gu10 that these bulbs use?
No voltage regulator required, its directly connected to the mains.
Now I know why it didn’t power up. lol 😂
I'm having my bedroom done finally! I really want philips hue gu10 white ambient (or something like that) but I don't have any current fixings/housings for the bulb. Would you be able to assist with what housing I would need? A lot of the housings, you have to buy the light with it. Basically, I want something similar to what you have!
Awesome, go to a DIY store and ask for a gu10 fire rated downlight fitting or search Amazon hope that helps.
Geek Street amazing, thank you. I’ll have a look today
You're welcome!
Good review. I need to order 16 of these suckers though 😩
Thanks...check this out a cheaper alternative ua-cam.com/video/T04sjLLExZg/v-deo.html
Naaaahh. I'll pull the trigger and buy the 16 bulbs I need. hue is just a superior product.
How much are they ?
Sorry for my question,i really dont have any idea. Does it need any special connections when being connected to alexa?
And can the light bulbs be operated into groups. Im using 4 sets of pinlights on my room which has 2 bulbs in each pinlight, would like to turn 2 sets of pinlight at the same time while the other 2 are off
What's up geek. I was wondering if these work with a dimmer switch or can they only be dimmed via the app?
You can dim with the app or get a Philips hue remote to dim.
@@GeekStreet they will not work with standard dimmer switch?
@@zakali4195 pretty sure they don't.
so they don’t work from the normal light switch ? Everyone has to work them from their phone to switch them on ? Confused that’s quite annoying if you don’t have your phone on you or have to find a remote every time
£84 for 2 is alot...Nice idea though GS :-)
Yeah the price is ridiculous, but definitely a great product!
Where is the google assistant and alexa part?
Hi - if Bluetooth is off - can i still turn lights on/off via the light switch?
Did you find out ?
Nice video! How bright would you say that these lightbulbs are? How many do you need to light up a room?
Thanks, example shown in this video ua-cam.com/video/T04sjLLExZg/v-deo.html of how bright it is.
@@GeekStreet Wow, that is very helpful. Thanks a lot!
Does anyone know how close the hub to the bulb has to be?
Do they last ? I bought the first ever Philips gu10s I got 100 for a crazy amount it was like 25 per bulb maybe more still work after 10 years maybe more how is this possible and I buy builds not and don’t even last for a year!!!
Can you charge these?
This is going to sound silly. But can i switch this on by the room switch ( if i just want light on . Obviously after i use app to change light colours. But if i haven’t got my phone on me can i just switch on and off by switch ? Will it just be a white warm light if that makes sense
Yes you can use the switch in the room to turn on
@@GeekStreet. What about a dimmer switch ? Annoying to have to go to your phone or remote everytime
Do you think 6 of them would provide a good white brightness in a 1.5 x 3 meters bathroom?
Yes that should be fine.
@@GeekStreet Sooo... Nope, it wasn't. The light is fine for a living room or a bedroom, but not for rooms where you need quite a lot of light (bathroom or office). Moreover, the light cone they project is too narrow and creates shadows.
I'm going to try Gledopto RGB-CCT downlights.
This might be a silly question, but if I have 10 lights connected to one switch, and if i change only 4 lights to phillips. Can I turn on just the phillips ones without turning on the normal one that are all one the same switch?
No you can't do that.
Yes, you can with a reley and some automation via "home assistant" or similar... Isn't easy for new entries but it's possible...
What's the power consumption in the "off/standby" state?
Each bulb draws around 0.01 to 0.02 Amps (about 0.4 Watts)
Any idea what GU10 housing/trim is used in this video?
Check this out amzn.to/3wStu8T
Hi, where did you purchased the recessed bulb holders? Cheers!
Screwfix
@@GeekStreet cheers!
@@SirChiefUK np
just wondering, will these work with the iphone?
Yes
Did you use a bridge for this?
I use with a bridge to give the smart functionality.
@@GeekStreet so does that mean without bridge you can’t change te colors and routines?
@@SFBQBVF I've shown all in the video, did you watch?
Does this one works as ambilight ?
No
hey bro can you make video on the topic:how to connect amazon echo or alexa to the bulb
Check out this video, I've shown in there.
ua-cam.com/video/TL-K4Gm0fis/v-deo.html
@@GeekStreet thx 👍👍👍
You're welcome!
would've been a much better demonstration if you showed the room with the bulb on, you don't really get an idea of how the light will actually look in the room with the camera pointed directly at the light.
Unfortunately these are no longer available in the US.
I'm suprised, but I guess demand must be high.
@@GeekStreet possibly. I tried to look for these on the Philips website too and couldn't find them. Just some on ebay. Almost make it seem like they were discontinued and aren't made anymore.
Do these need a transformer?
No these are mains rated.
@@GeekStreet thank you so much. Will give theae a go.
Price is a JOKE!
Yes, I can't see how they can justify it.
Over priced tat
