    This sounds like something that would happen to me. I always get locked into places randomly. The first day of college, the doorknob of the bathroom in my dorm, BROKE off in my hand. I was like, seriously??? The professor would never believe my story of getting stuck in the bathroom...there was another girl in there too and she freaked out. Luckily, I could put the handle back in and use it. I was laughing though. I had to tell the manager of the building. First day of classes....I'll never forget it....

What's worst was my car breaking down the same day, and I was already late for work! Thank goodness my supervisor was understanding and let me take the day off to settle things. Took the opportunity to listen to "They Both Die at the End" by Adam Silvera, and received weird stares at the workshop with my sobbing 😂

      @@flippanties we can lock ourselves in from the inside. It’s usually a twist or push mechanism from the inside that can be done without the key.
      I only need a key to get back in from the outside. On one of my doors, I need the key to lock it from the outside when I leave. All of them can be locked without a key from the inside.
      I hope that makes sense.

    • @user-es7ui5mc1m
      @user-es7ui5mc1m 2 роки тому +1

      i mean yeah if someone locks you in, most doors are actually always "locked" from the outside, meaning the knob or handle on the outside is immovable, so you can't open it without the key from the outside but can always open it from the inside without having to do anything, so there's no twist or push mechanism you can open without the key because from the inside you don't need the key anyways? hope this makes sense it's kinda hard to explain. A lot of people I know don't ever manually lock their doors when they leave because it's already locked from the outside, so it would make sense tht Nathaniel - being American (right?) - would lock him in because that's probably what his muscle memory tells him to do as he leaves the apartment.
      edit: I have seen these for sure in Germany, the Netherlands and France, and the UK and Ireland I think don't actually have these types of doors, they often have the "American" style doors I think????

      It is probably a safety norm now for new buildings or renovated ones (you need to be able to get out in case of emergencies) but I have had doors that had the keyhole on both sides, which means that if someone closes the door from either side with the key, you need the key to open it

      Here in Europe (at least where I've lived), closing the front door will close it from the outside but you can still open it from the inside, then when you actively lock the door as well, it can't be opened from either side because this lock pin just goes through a hole in the doorpost.
      As far as I'm aware, both new and old doors have this system

      I'm French so it's a really natural situation for me, like the lock is independent from the handle and you can either lock it from the inside or from the outside and it will have the same effect (completely lock the door) Not sure if I'm clear

    Hi. Great way to spend a locked in (a house) day. One thought I had is perhaps the owners of the home looked you up before approving you for the let and found out you love books and so intentionally placed the Jack book there. My suggestion: Read it. See if it is any good. 😊
