There's a Marianne Faithful version, from later in her career, after decades of self-destruction, and a while after having a brief relationship with a man who committed suicide while they were living together. Maybe my knowledge of her biography colors my opinion. She sings it real slow, backed with a horn section, for a filmtrack of the same name.
