In this video I will be showing you how to install f clips or steamboats or madison clips all made by the caddy brand and easy to use. I have been using these for along time and they are fantastic for cutting in an electrical box into a drywall or plaster wall, they will even work on a block wall as well.

How to make a 2 minute video into a 12 minute video :D
Got what I needed in the end, thanks for the help!
😂 😂.. No problem thanks for the laugh. Have a great day
Thank you for putting time and effort into this video! Ive aways seen these at hardware strores and wondered what they are for, now i know and its honestly a very smart invention.
My pleasure. I agree they are pretty ingenious
Yes, your video brought both clarity and a learning opportunity for me. Thank you.
Always my pleasure ☺
thank you ,today you help me a lot today in my work
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Fast forward to the 9min mark to see this guy actually use the product.
🤡
Very nice video! I have used "Madison Bars" on many electrical boxes, and they work great. Yes, I have always electrical tape the receptacle with using metal boxes and Madison Bars for safety reasons.
Agreed. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Always my pleasure ☺
"Battleships"
Yep
I've been using the reno boxes with wings/clips which require a larger hole and use up space inside the box for the clips. Discovered these recently and will be using them from now on to add boxes when needed. Great demo!
I appreciate your comment and watching. They are pretty fantastic. Have a great day ☺
Thanks
Great video
I have purchase a tracer tool !! Awesome tool !! I have 1924 house lath and plaster walls . I am able to put outlets were the original house didn't have outlets. Except I have to use a oscillating tool to cut out boxes and adding grounds. I feel confident about the new outlets. Thank you Sharing your info with us!!
Always my pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Very good info.
I appreciate your comment and watching ☺
Excellent video! I call them F clips because that what I first heard them called and that’s what they look like.
First time viewer/subscribed!
👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome, me too and I appreciate your comment and watching. Welcome to the mountaineer outdoors family ☺
It could be a regional thing, but I've always known them as battleships (for the same reason as you called them steamboats)
Thanks big man
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your contribution to my channel. I truly appreciate it ☺
Good information. So they are supposed to keep the box from coming out of the drywall but not the other way around? Meaning they don't work if the box is sinking in from a given side(lacking back support)
Fast forward to 9:00 everybody!
😘 😂
They literally say up on the side of them, So it does matter. The short part should always aim down!
Can we see the back after installation
Video starts at 9:00
😏
Madison straps
Can these be used to push down the side of a plastic new work box that is sticking out of the drywall a little because the 2x4 the other side is nailed into is a bit warped? This is for a 2-gang box holding only light switches, not an outlet. If I manually press that edge, it does recess to the drywall so it isn't like a killer amount of force is needed to do that. Unfortunately we are at the point that fixing this other ways would not be easy because there are a lot of wires coming in the box.
Great question. I would not because it has the potential to become energized potentially. In my opinion it may be a better idea to replace the box all together maybe with a box like this amzn.to/3YGb6vA
@@MountaineerOutdoors Thank you!
Hi were did you buy the box level?
Here is one amzn.to/3tc3BCy and the other one I like isamzn.to/3EZh5E5
That was helpful, wish it was ten minutes shorter.
😂 😂 I hear that 😂 😂
What device should I tape?
This is my opinion, but in boxes that are tight. Use your own judgment though nothing wrong with every device.
Battleships
That saw seems cool, what brand is it?
Its milwaukee I have had it for many years. I am not sure if they still make it. Here is the same thing, not the same brand though. amzn.to/41b1ZoM
Awesome, thank you for the reply.
My pleasure
Not sure how you think the clips would be flat to the wall like you said you like to have them.
Huh
She was good in tight 😂😂
🤷♂️
I call them F clips because i'm still wondering what the F they are for. Lol. Just kidding. But seriously, do they hold the box into the hole? And where do they hold exactly? I couldn't see what they clipped into.
Yes the hold the box in the wall and the top of the box ears keep it locked into place good question
So next video. How to install with MC attached to the box.
Now that's a good idea 💡
🤔We call them box. Shims 🤷♂️
I hate f straps
I feel ya
You have not explained what these are even for.
These are 'renovation' boxes used when you need to add an electrical box without cutting a larger access hole to screw a box to studs. This allows for a much smaller hole as you don't have clips or wings to push into the opening to hold the other style or reno boxes.
you have a fake wall, wouldn’t of been nice if you show how it looks from the back
😂 😂 Well you would have thought that I would have shown that. Looks like a redo
Way too long to explain
😘
I appreciate it, it’s good to have someone explain it with detail. Some people need it.
Who the hell has a 50 dollar leather man but not a needle nosed plier? Cmon man stop flexing
