Makes me sad that the first time I saw these two in the wild a few weeks ago they were both multiple Benjamin's, and I just can't afford that, justify it, and nor can I accept it. Whiskey prices are getting out of hand

Took me time to find one where I live, but I finally got a 10 year batch 3. First version I have had of any of them. I just cracked it before watching this. OMG, what an incredible pour. I'm not sure I would buy the 12 after having the 10. Especially because the 12 year is priced so high. We don't get MSRP anywhere near us. I was lucky to find the 10 at 95 bucks.
I didn’t get any mustiness at all on the JD12 batch 2. It was all banana bread pudding for days with nice viscosity.
JD 12 is way too tannic and musty oak. It may be the most meh release I’ve had this year
If they’re only sending whiskey tubers sampler sizes, it’s gonna cost a car payment to buy it, much less find it. Sad times.
I agree with this. This 12 year is not as good as last year and not as good as this year’s 10 year (although it is very close).
I tried them both side by side and for my pallette the 10 year was better.

Honestly, Jack Daniels can kinda go piss up a rope. Only f-u money and influencers could afford the *first* batch of JD. It will be the same with this one, and it will absolutely(!) be the same for 15y+.
No fault to you, Matt. Your content is awesome as always, but truthfully its just tiring to hear about JD bottles anymore, and that’s to say the very least.
The MSRP for JD12 is only $80, which it is deserving of every penny...if you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the retailers/secondary market for jacking up the prices.
@@johng5710doesnt really matter what retail is if thehly cant be found for it. Ive never even seen last years or this years releases. Only in raffles. I seen one 12 yr last year and it was like 300-400. This year, nothing. Tho there is a local store that has them both in a point redemption day coming up ina week or two. But, can only get one bottle at a time and have to get back in line. At that point, theres only like blantons and eagle rare left

Again, these bottles are for people with fu money or influencers. There is no other way to obtain them. Catch up or dont bother responding.
I found two JD10 batch 3 for $100 each. Also have found three JD12’s for $130-$150. Not sure I’d consider that F-U money lol. They are priced, even at above retail, competitively in the market. Not sure what the anger is about?

I think the 10 is better this year that the 10 of last year.
And I also think the 12 of this year is not as good as the 12 of last year. But I’ve not thought to blind this years 12 and 10 to really see which one I like. I would have said easy 12, until watching this video.

@@jacksmith2315 what state are you in? I’m in TN so have the inside scope on JDs. But places like OH have the SBBP in like every store.

I know a guy who, like yourself, thinks this year's 10 is better than last year's 10 and who, also like yourself, thinks last year's 12 is better than this year's 12. That guy blinded this year's 10 against this year's 12 -- and the 10 won!
Nice review! I was able to get JD 10 batch 2. I went to pick up JD 10 batch 3 from a liquor store buddy. When I got there, it was actually JD 10 batch 1. I also have JD 12 batches 1 and 2. Good stuff. 🥃

I'm probably in the minority, but I preferred the 10yr to the 12yr in 2023.
