I think somewhere around 10-12 years ago, the fine folks at Jack Daniels decided they'd had enough of being sidelined as a 'mixer' or 'just old no. 7' and went big. They've since released Coy Hill, Sinatra, Single Barrel, Barrel Proof, the 10 and 12 yr and, my personal favorite, the Heroes Selection pick from last year. I, too, have visited their distillery and these folks know what they're doing. Looking forward to what's next. Cheers,
JD12 Batch 1 is one of my all time favorite bottles. I found a Batch 2...and yes I paid secondary....because I don't live near Bourbon country....and I have a job....and it was my Valentine's present to myself....and it is so damn good!!
I've not had the 12 year, but a few months ago I had a sample of the 10, and it was good. I didn't particularly notice wood smoke in it, but I'm working on my second bottle of SBBP, and it definitely has a smoky note on the nose. I wonder how much of that comes from the barrel, and how much from the charcoal.
I have never been able to find either here in south Louisiana but today my luck changed 50% when I arrived at the store the 12 was gone but was able to get a 10 ... Thanks
Thanks for this review, I needed this. I found a bottle of the 12 on the shelf finally, but the asking was $325 so I walked. I will buy a pour at a bar when I find it there.
I’m surprised you made it through both without mentioning banana. The 10 year has a definite banana note. It is the first thing I smell. In the 12, it is more like a plantain and is sitting behind a block of toffee. I agree that the oak is more apparent on the 10 than the 12, which was the case last year as well, though last year, the 10 was an oak bomb. All in all, I think last year’s 12 blows this year’s 12 away, but that’s not to say that the 12 this year is bad, but the 12 last year was just great. This year’s 10 leans into the fruit similar to the batch 1 10, but is the most Jack Daniel’sy release yet, if that’s the word.
I am worried about that $10 per year rule. If the stores begin to apply that rule to every bourbon, will people see it as normal price? Will the bourbon prices go up then?
Never seen either of these but I bought a pour of the 12 in a bar. It was good but I wasn't blown away. I was there for a local whiskey group tasting and they were pouring Davidson Reserve Tennessee Straight Sour Mash Whiskey. I liked the Davidson much better than the JD12.
The last few years of Jacks rise was all Jeff A. Now that he has started Company, I'm curious to see what the next few years brings. Currently on 🔥🔥🔥 hope it continues
The Bardstown trip was great and informative, but here's the thing, is there a store there called Toddy's? Seriously? As there is one in KnoxvilleTn too! Just curious 🤔🤷♀️
I've had a thought... I've come across some people who say they can, by taste, differentiate between bourbon and Tennessee whisky. I'm no expert on either, but I've tried both, and to me they all taste like bourbon (and indeed, based on all the facts I have, I've concluded that Tennessee whisky is a variety of bourbon, just as high rye and four grain whiskies which conform to the rules of bourbon are varieties of bourbon). It would be interesting to see y'all test that thesis. If y'all could do an episode where you blind taste Tennessee whiskies and regular bourbons of similar proof and price, and see if y'all could tell which was which, that would be mighty interesting. 🙂
The wife and I preferred the 10 yr . I don't find anything in the 12 year its so odd to hear tasting notes from everyone and how the 12 is the best and it was just meh. I habe found though that i find different notes if i let the pour rest in the glass for a really long time. So still training my palette i suppose but excited to come back to the 12 over and over until i find what everyone raves over.
MSRP is a fiction for 98% of people out there. I wish the enitre UA-cam community would make value assessments with actual prices in mind. I have both the 10 and 12. I paid 150 and 225 respectively, and I feel like I got a decent deal vs. higher prices I've seen out there. However I would not promote these as great whiskeys at reality pricing. Sorry, I'll shut up now.
I think I'll settle for the SBBP but I can't snub the Old #7 as it has its place, I just tend to swish a larger sip and still get that unique profile. The bonded might be my new sweet spot.
No the fuck it don't! Retail my ass, just got hit over the head for$324 with tax in Arlington. Liquor depot on Collins down from the att stadium. Maybe I got yoked.🤷🏾♂️
It’s cut for time because it’s just dead air. We cut out the silence, the thinking, and the lip smacking sounds and leave in the thoughts about the whiskey.

Looking forward to these. Last years releases were really good. It makes me more excited to try these
Thanks for the video 🥃

JD12 Batch 1 was easily my favorite bottle from 2023. Glad I found one here in Iowa.
SHRINKFLATION!!! Silly word but come on Jack Daniels don’t do us dirty with 700ml for that price.
It would be nice to know when they are going to be available

Have you done a review on the 2023 Boombergers?
#NuttySquad I love these short and sweet so cool! Very nice b roll too!
These have been so good!
Have the 12 yr B1 and B2. Both are phenomenal and I generally slightly prefer the B1.

Just lucked out and got the 12 year batch 2 today for 99.99.
Congrats!

Try blending them 50 50. My favorite of the three

I just found the 10 year yesterday, no luck with the 12 yet
Just found the 12 year for $120 here in Texas.
I’m looking but no sightings around me yet
Found them both last week at exactly $10 a year
The 12 is selling for $300 in California, if you can find it.
Just got it for msrp in Santa Barbara
Got mine at costco for 79$ batch 2 even, got blantons for 59$..
That's the dream!
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Approx 500 dollars in the UK 😢
I’ve personally never been a fan of a dry rub finish 😂

Jd 10 batch 3…cigarettes and peanut butter? Dude. No. No one has those notes. Glad I watched other reviews

I still don’t get why drinking*** shows edit the part out when they’re actually DRINKING!?!?!?

These bottle are nearly impossible to find. Unless you want to pay $400.
Chad poured it wrong
either no samples are just none 🤣
