With hundreds of new horror mods coming out it begs the question which ones are actually good. I went through the pain of playing most of them and ranked the best ones in a tierlist so all of you can have the best Minecraft HORROR experience.

most of the mods you put up the top are dweller reskins. And your opinions on those in the highest tier seem to be based on community response instead of what you really think, most of this is L opinions.

Imo, Cave Dweller Evolved shouldn't be at the top since it's literally just a stolen resource pack published as a mod
i believe you mean the cave dweller reimagined, the cave dweller evolved is the source of all 1.19.2 dweller mods, including reimagined
I can't agree with you o the Midnight Lurker. I think it's one of the best. The way it watches you, slowly creeps twoards you, multiplies?!, peeks around corners and comes out of the ground to scare you is pretty unique. It doesn't just attack on sight. It actually makes you feel very uneasy
I absolutely agree with that! Also, I really like the design… Most of the dwellers are just ugly, but the midnight lurker has an interesting body shape that makes it look even more creepy!

ngl i feel like pitting some of these mods against eachother is kinda like comparing apples to oranges? like the og cave dweller and from the fog are both mods that are meant to add onto the already existing subtle horror of minecraft, whereas mods like the man from the fog or some of the dweller reskins are literally just dropping a horror game monster into minecraft. obviously there's nothing wrong w that, lots of people obviously really enjoy the new challenge that brings but it does feel kinda stacked against mods that want to fit the already existing minecraft formula xP
I'm making a modpack that just adds as much content as possible. I'm not trying to make it perfectly balanced, but I don't want it to be too unfair. But I've been wanting to add some horror mods, but not dwellers, or anything that just goes: "Ah ha! I've appeared out of nowhere, blasted your ears off, and now you're dead!". If there is such thing as a horror mod that dosent do that, perhaps even had some progression, please tell.
Also the modpack is for 1.20.1, and don't suggest born in chaos, I already have it installed, and it's one of my favorite mods

@@Hethatapproaches It's not published, it was supposed to be a personal modpack, but if you're interested I'll post it and send the name. I have no coding knowledge so I haven't edited anything of the mod, it's just vanilla create, twilight forest, aether, ect. But if you're still interested I'll put it up.
i feel like some of this should come from the mechanics more
the knocker isn't just spawn and chase. it has a lot of other things it does, doors you place may open on their own with a different noise, it will wake you up when you sleep at stare at you through one of you windows. (The same may happen, except it just watches you sleep), it may sit on your bed and attempt to jumpscare you upon sight, and a lot of other features
Yeah a lot of these felt like they were ranked highly just from character design. A creepy design doesn’t mean it’s a good horror mod. There was like no difference between “must have” and “this is what horror is about.” Like, the justification for siren head was that it’s large and “entertaining,” but entertaining =/= scary.

Bruh the knocker is much more than just a dude who does a lot of damage, and you didn’t rate the others based on damage alone.
I would put man from the fog above the rake because every time the rake spawned, the rake literally crashed my game. Every time. No joke.

It's scary, but it has too many jumpscares that after some time become annoying. At least it's not Silence 2.0... But the dimension teleport is cool.
Bro be hatin on the Silence. One of the best mods. It can teleport you into a nightmare dimension randomly. Scary as hell. Reminds me of the dimension door mod.

the silence should be at the top of all of them, this shit catches you offguard all the time with the png jumpscares and loud noises you'd never expect them and the new dimension and structures it adds. What also makes it terrifying is when the main mob in this mod that dude with the knife spawns in there's this nun massacre chase music which makes you deaf and scared at the same time

png jumpscares are terrible and the old version of the mod was better, now you can't even walk around without being attacked and its loud as hell for a mod called the silence

İve been playing the 1.19.2 and its sometimes doesnt let me walk and have a look around twilight forest with my friend(he hates silence a little) beacuse freakin silence always teleports us to the dimension and spawns in overworld in front of my bed so we cant even explore twilight forest. İ mean even anomlay and man from the fog is less annoying then this mf

Its funny he uses the autizms rake for the image but in the video clip he shows some different rake mod autizms rake is a crazy good mod and it doesnt randomly teleport to you or something it actually sneaks towards you its one of the few horror mods that i deem actually good

some things i'd like to add, some of these are just my opinion, please don't hate :]
the slumbering omen "girl" with cool animations is a guy, for any of you freaks out there
the rake video you used is not the same rake mod as the image is showing
the evolved cave dweller should've replaced the reimagined cave dweller, since it was the real source of almost all dweller mods
the OG cave dweller should've been higher, the only reason people don't play it is because it is 1.19.3 and not 1.19.2/1.20.1, which no good horror mods are on, and it's got a new update, which is very good, and it is the ONLY reason minecraft horror has came back
i agree with the silence, too much spawnrate, png jumpscares randomly, that random dimension where you can just lose everything in
apollyon isn't really that good, too high spawnrate, got lore i guess yeah, but it's too much
midnight lurker is way underrated, it fits minecraft's style, like the steve dweller, og/evolved cave dweller, knocker, mftf yknow those guys
the one who watches has always been my favourite horror mod, and the newest update which is good.
the irritator "crawling" or fitting through HALF BLOCK spaces, is just because it's a reskin
the assimilator is a lot faster than other dweller reskins (other than cantbreathe, which is imo the scariest dweller, just because of the speed and sounds)
also with the silence, it crashes in multiplayer
beware the rain would be much better if either they didn't one shot you, even through walls like they do, or they spawn less
the man from the shadow is an okay horror mod, just too high of a spawnrate
AND the knocker also spawns in PEACEFUL mode and still kills you, so you're never truly safe from him
also, you should do another video with more of the dweller/horror mods there are out there, i can name a few that i find really good that wasn't in this, this is a great video and it'd be nice to see more!

Yeah there may be a lot of horror mods, too many though. They are just being thrown about and come out flimsy, but ey there is a banger or two. Also just saying, the Cartoon dweller should probably be put on the bottom tier, just imagine if you try to play multiple, extended sessions with this dude in it... all the talking, it would get really repetitive, it'd be more annoying than scary, i've seen a video or two on people playing with the mod, so i'm not just making this up, and to make it worse i remember there being a tiny amount of variation in the lines. Unfortunately i can't really remember anything good from the mod so i'm basically just taking a huge shit on all of it, but safe to say you can enjoy this as a one and done type of thing

How do you rank mods?
@@Pandeh to rank mods you need to read description in curse forge, and also spend enough time with the mod or modpack that includes some mods. Because I noticed, nobody is reading description for slumbering omen on curse forge, and people think what mod just adds 3-4 entities and that's it. Basically to make a really good tier list you need to play with every mod, or at least watch a video with it. But sometimes it doesn't work with some mods, as I said earlier. And still we all have our opinion, for this type of video you need to explain why you put that mod here, is it balanced or not, does it works in multiplayer game or it doesn't, etc
