BallyK was only good with Assumpta and Peter,… they were the heartbeat of the show, their will they/won’t they relationship was the magic that worked. Such a tragic end…the characters deserved better. I hated that she died, just as they got together. If the actors wanted to leave fine…I just wish it ended with them getting on a bus together, happy and in love.
I remember the first time I watched Bally K, I had been on tour for three months and was looking forward to putting my drum sticks down for a weeks break. Feet up in front of the tv on a Sunday night with a glass of red and a new series called Ballykissangel comes on. I liked the look of it from the start and watched with interest as the program unfolded. No bad language lots of witty one liners and lovely country side setting. I was hooked there and then, and this is still one of my favourite shows ever. I had to get my girlfriend at the time to record the rest of the series as I was away again after the first one. On my return I sat and watched all the others in the first series and loved them all. Series 2 and three couldn’t come quickly enough. I have just watched them again and still feel the same about them as I did then. such a shame that some of the cast have passed on now. Wonderful characters and wonderful acting. I did think that another ending would have been nice for series 3 but maybe finding a electrician in Ballykissangel is not easy. Thanks for this video clip and I will continue to be thankful that I put my feet up on that Sunday evening.
I'm only now getting to watch this fantastic show on Britbox. Love the innocence of this. I wish we could go back in time, and that we all could live in Ballykissangel!
Deb Maddock: The teenage years go by so quickly. Still the rest of life is not slow either. Four years on from your comment. Quite belated. I am a slow typer.
Really appreciate this video. I am just now discovering Ballykissangel and cannot quit watching it. A very powerful show. The chemistry between these two is electric, no pun untended.
I just finished season 3. This show brought me so much joy then smashed it all. The writers could have easily had them run away together instead of killing her off!!! Ugh!!
Kristin Chute: Difficult to believe someone would mess with a fuse box electrics without turning off the power first. She had done it a few times before she got shocked so probably felt confident to try again? This is also very true to life. Enjoy the rest of the series. You may even have finished it by now? I have the boxset to binge watch every few years. I am not one for going out.
I, know one thing for sure. What happened between herself and the priest (even if the circumstances were different) you never want it to happen to you or those you care about in real life. It rips the heart of you out. Takes years to get over, even just partially. Great fiction and a true reflection of how brutal life can be.
I watched the program when it premiered on PBS in the U.S, in the late 90's. It had some similarities to Northern Exposure, an American program which had come to an end. Unlike Maggie and Joel's relationship in Northern Exposure, Peter and Asumpta's was devastating. I'm presently re-watching the series for the 5th time, or to be more precise, their story again. I try to make every moment they have to together last longer in my imagination before the scene ends. It's like watching the final episodes from the original Upstairs/Downstairs, the scenes between James and Georgina. Great programming, all of them.
@@joove81_ No problem, but that episode ruined the whole drama if you ask me, no need for assumpta and peter to leave the way they did, they could of left the show under happier circumstances.
Asumpta annoyed the crap out of me. She was so self centered. First she has the hots for a priest, then she saddles her best friend with her bar while the best friend has a newborn and a husband in the hospital. Gross.
I also had trouble relating to the Assumpta character. However I did love the series. Loved the quirky characters in the small town. The setting was a real part of the series, just like the people.

Such a beautiful compilation and perfect song for this story. Its 2018 and I've been reliving my teenage years re-watching the series 😊

Revisiting this show after so many years. Still all the feels for these two.
I was totally into her ... character
Such chemistry between these two! The writing and the casting were so well done - a rare occurance.

I love this--I rewatched Ballyk recently and the way the show ended for these two still KILLS me. Thank you for giving these two a happier one!
It started very good, and ended very bad.

I have never had a show affect me more than Ballykissangel when she died.
Thank you for this! I watched the show as a teenager many years ago. Just started rewatching it, and this video made me cry. 😭
This is so perfect!!! Thank you for making it!
I'd only just got over Asumpta and Peter and then Normal People came along!
@2:04 . . . a woman breathing like that is one of the most beautiful things in the world.
God do I feel like I’ve missed out after watching this
best love story

a great show such a sad ending
When I watched Ballykissangel it made me want to move to Ballykissangel in Ireland even though I knew it was an imaginary place.
Actually the village where it was filmed is still there and is called Avoca, Co Wicklow. My mother's home village.
@@patriciabyrne5089, from what 'I've seen on TV it is a lovely place.

I read Dervela and the creater of the show regret how they had Asumpta die and not having her live when leaving the show.
