Thank you Robert Mitchum, thank you Jane Russel for these words about Marilyn. It is so good to hear someone speak so highly of her and her character. There are too many out there who like to make money with the sick, mad, drug-addicted, dumb, weak image of her....it is to good to hear that she was indeed seen as a bright, sensitive, generous and humorous person who cared about others.. thank you so much for posting this.
My respect for these two just went up some. (Not that it was low). Most people who really got to know Marilyn often use the word "pure". She really was as nice as she seemed. Not an act.
Thanks you for both of you talking highly of Marilyn Monroe ..... I knew Marilyn Monroe is a wonderful person too..... she'll be every generation fascination of her beauty and charms and her wonder......
THANK YOU "Marilyn Monroe Video Archives" for this gem. Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jean Baker) collaborated with Jane Russell & Robert Mitchum in two very different projects. The one with Jane Russell a glamorous studio timeless classic comedy "Gentleman Prefer Blondes" from the Broadway Play "Lorelei" and with Robert Mitchum in "River Of No Return", a survival wilderness settlers melodrama. Two completely different locations and demanding acting abilities. For this two veterans of The Hollywood Machine to speak so highly about their college speaks volumes of them and of who Marilyn Monroe truly was. A good loyal friend :-)
Jane Russell had something MM never had a father, not only in the biological sense but like a guiding star and four brothers.Such a strong male presence helped her tell good men from evil ones.
Wow what a statement! Everyone loved Marilyn Monroe…. No one speaks ill to her. Even the girls she worked with didnt even said bad things about her, she didnt upstaged anyone, she not bitching and being a diva to anyone… what a beautiful soul she is😍
Thank you Robert and thank you Jane. Thank you Marilyn Monroe Video Archives for sharing this wonderful conversation. It’s so wonderful to know that the real personality of Marilyn Monroe is being given to us now. I think many of us, alive now, had a feeling that there was so much more to Marilyn and her story, that we were given, at that time. I am glad the truth is coming to light. I love you Marilyn. You are beautiful, inside and outside 💜💙🙏🏾💚💛
Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell were both known for their honesty. They were not phonies. I am sure that this why Marilyn liked them and vice versa. Marilyn was not a phony.
Such a Class Act Mitchum. Jane too. these folks are from a Generation of Humans, who we shall not see the likes of, again. Now, it's the 'Gossip Machine'...and all it's minions and ghouls. Tabloids. Reality Shows. Shit-Factory News outlets..... really sad. Listen to Mitchum, summon with all the conviction in him, every kind and complimentary word he can, about his fellow actor and old friend. so sweet. i wish people were still this way mostly. but...we're not.
I don't think they are saying it like it was, I think most were intimidated by her beauty, and were jealous of it and used it against her. Her beauty was more than skin deep.
It is nice to hear positive comments from colleagues about MM. Does anyone know when Mitchum and Russell were interviewed, who did it and for what show/film? Thanks.
I wanna talk to some folks about Marilyn.... Like truly. Deep, profound conversations. She was murdered!!! Sad. That damn housekeeper and Greenson, Lawford.
Seems like she was an HSP Empath with C-PTSD.. same as Michael Jackson and Princess Diana. No wonder Michael Jackson adored both women & related to them. All three are sincere, honest, empathic, loyal, generous, righteous, decent. He owned one of the only photos of Marilyn & JFK and mentioned her in his song “Tabloid Junkie”. And mentioned Lady Diana in his song “Privacy”
I would have liked to see her do more varied roles as an actress. As I’ve aged I’ve found the clips that I saw of her earlier work was fascinating and she was obviously a very talented intelligent woman. The over the top sex symbol thing was too much to be type cast into her entire career. I can’t imagine the pressures she endured being objectified and lusted over by so many people. Not many could handle that kind of attention.
She was sooo good in The Dangerous Years and she was only in it for a short time but she was the most natural actor in both of her scenes. She used her natural voice too. I really think she could have been an Audrey Hepburn/Natalie Wood type if she had been taken seriously.
The truth is that a lot of the crews didnt like working with her at all. Whether that crossed over into not liking her personally i dont know., but how really would any of them have known her? She would hide in her dressing room most of the time. I read the book that the movie with Michelle Williams( is that her name?) was in, written by the second director of the Prince and the Showgirl. He wrote that she had bought every single one of the crew gifts as an apology for her behavior, and they ALL threw them away after she left!! Fucking jerks! :( I really appreciate Robert and Jane saying such nice things about her! She wasnt difficult because she was a bitch, everyone knows, now, that she was terrified of the camera and felt completely inadequate and insecure.
She was insecure, and that was the real problem about her... And let's admit it... She wasn't a good actress, but she was gorgeous...and this thing has been making the whole difference
Marilyn del Rey as far as movies and acting go now a days, she wasn't that great, but i think it was more the roles she was getting rather than her acting ability.Seriously look at half of the movies from back then, they were TERRIBLE!! And for me there is nothing worse than musicals!! lol I mean she had serious potential talent, she could cry real tears on demand, and most importantly she was willing and desperate to learn and improve herself! I think that in time and once she started getting roles that were decent we would have seen great things from her! Its so sad to me that because of her childhood she couldn't see how great she was!
andy elliott most definitely NOT! Poor thing was just too fragile in many ways. I think that is a huge part of her appeal to this day, she was so broken but still tried SO hard. I feel so much compassion for her.
It's not nonsense to find out that the world has a creator who loves you and has an eternal plan for you.Why would you get older and see life coming down to it's last years and not reach out to the creator of it all?
Yes, and a treasure to those that still LOVE her. I have seen just about everything, but not this. Puts Jane in a different light for me; I've read she became obsessed with religion and all that nonsense.
She was a wonderful human being but I still think she contributed to her own death. She didn't have to get involved with high powered men. They were all married. She didn't have to sleep with the Kennedys! She put herself in all that mess and it all took her life.
you should also account for that she was abused, in and out of bad foster homes, and the fact that she couldn't have children was also painful to her, not everything is her fault
@@jucutan depression is a horrible disease, you obviously have no clue what you're talking about as you're clearly victim blaming her, her messing with the kennedys was not the only reason of her demise. Many people are sleeping with married men, and they don't take their lives. Quit focusing on that, Hollywood used and abused her, and she has a fucked up childhood from the beginning

jane russsell was very pretty and at an older age she was stunning
She was very pretty but also masculine looking at the same time...it’s mind boggling
I've never seen someone age up so gracefully like Jane Russel. I wonder how Marilyn would have looked like in her 60s. God bless her soul
Great to hear nice things being said about Marilyn :))
Jane Russell looks really great in her maturity.
Robert Mitchum, what a sweet guy. I didn't know he was so tender hearted.
I get the impression he was tough but soft on the inside :)
Check out the man's bio...lotsa depth & multi-sided artist, far beyond his cliche, public, bad boy image.
Jane stills looks beautiful
My respect for these two just went up some. (Not that it was low).

,Robert was a Gentle man!! He and Jane were lifelong friends..
Thanks you for both of you talking highly of Marilyn Monroe ..... I knew Marilyn Monroe is a wonderful person too..... she'll be every generation fascination of her beauty and charms and her wonder......
The fact that big Hollywood stars thought the world of her says it all.

Class acts all around.
OMG. Jane Russell was gorgeous in High School. She is such a stunning and talented lady. Such a Class Act.

Thankyou for such beautiful words and so true .miss you all .such amazing talent. True professionals.god how we need that now.R I P. XXX
You can see a lot of memories Jane is pulling up regarding Marilyn. Its in her eyes.
There's so much they are hesitating to share...God Bless Them 💜💌

Always love her!!
the fact that nobody spoke ill of Marilyn is a testament about her but also those people. nowadays everybody backstabs, narcissists are everywhere
That was such a great statement on Marilyn 💖
Such a fitting pairing, reflecting on their friend...both touching & revealing.

Love Jane and love Bob Mitchum even more. Together, they were excellent on screen.
Marilyn actually saved Robert Mitchum's life while filming "River of No Return".

Miles Montemore how? What happened?
Jane looks so beautiful here. when was this taken?
I would like to see footage of Marilyn out with the girls having a great time...you don't see much of that...
Robert Mitchum once said about Jane Russell: The biggest thing about her is her heart. And listening to her in this clip he was probably right...

I'm sure that this interview took place before 1997.
I don't think they are saying it like it was, I think most were intimidated by her beauty, and were jealous of it and used it against her. Her beauty was more than skin deep.
Katina Lennie yes! People were jealous when they discovered that not only was she beautiful from the outside but also from the inside
I FELT BAD SHE DID NOT WANT TO KNOW JESUS THESE WORDS CAME FROM JANE RUSSEL
It is nice to hear positive comments from colleagues about MM. Does anyone know when Mitchum and Russell were interviewed, who did it and for what show/film? Thanks.
*I think Marilyn was a Celestial Being*
She's such a badass
Jane Russell in another interview was very upset with the way Marilyn died & said "Marilyn dud not kill herself"!!
I wanna talk to some folks about Marilyn.... Like truly. Deep, profound conversations. She was murdered!!! Sad. That damn housekeeper and Greenson, Lawford.
I've always thought Marilyn was murdered, Dorothy Gillgallen, too!
Me too, she was murdered.
Thanks for sharing. Interesting interview.

Tara Shaw Richard Widmark described her appeal as "innocent sexuality",i think that's a pretty good description.

Grace's great grandfather Robert and Jane care about Norma
She is pretty
Both of them would not dare to admit RFK had her killed
Nice documentary
At tragic figure - too sensitive (and kind) for the industry she was in.
Maybe run this through a 60 cycle hum filter before posting, ya?
Mitchum looks like Eric Clapton
Here you go... 👀 👓

Jane said Marilyn had a chip on her shoulder
What "physical problems" is he talking about?

When was this videoed?

marilyn was murdered
@@danc3693 So how you explain her bruises and broken rip in the autopsy? Also there was nothing on her stomach
;O
robert mitchum says no actress ever says anything bad about marilyn monroe. go see hope lange on larry king live in 1997.
Lange underwent brain surgery in 1991 :-) Plus may be being jealous of MM did not help either :-)
