Southern fried salmon patty

I think what makes these “southern fried” is the cornmeal!! It does make it taste like an old fashion fish fry!! I will be making them like this again. By the way … do you say salmon with the /L/ or without? Just curious! Either way this is a quick meal for your family. Made 7 nice size patties.
10-14 ozs of canned salmon
1 egg
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder or you could use 1/8 cup diced onions. Depending on your taste
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2-3 tablespoons cooking oil
Fry on medium heat 5-7 minutes on each side or til golden brown
