Thanks for sharing. I have heard a lot about the accuracy of Volkswagen's EV range. I think this feature could benefit Aussie drivers a lot in the near future.
Quite a good looking car. What I don't get in all these modern cars with the big touch screens. If I drive down the road and operate my phone. And get seen by police. Or one of the phone/seatbelt cameras. I get a $1200 fine. So what is the difference in using all these touch screens. Are you supposed to stop every time you want to operate them. Because most people won't. So explain the difference. Because I can't see it.
As far as I know, the enforcement happens when they capture the "phone". If you can prove that you were not using a mobile phone, instead you were holding an ice cream or something that looks like a mobile phone, the court would lift the penalty for you.
It’s pronounced “Coopra” Not “Cup-ra” as in a cup of water Doesn’t Cupra share the exact same platform and engines as the VW vehicles such as the Golf GTI and R
Jesus wept. Absolutely clueless . Yes I have owned /own two ID ‘s. Reviewers are supposed to know a modicum of detail of of the vehicle they are reviewing.
Has anyone noticed this delightful footnote on the 2024 Cupra: “Maximum power determined according to UN GTR.21….Availability of maximum power requires a specific high voltage battery temperature of between 23-50ºC and a battery charge level greater than 55% to deliver around 170kW for 58kWh (62kWh Gross) battery, and temperature of between 23-50ºC and a battery charge level greater than 85% to deliver around 170kW for 77kWh (82kWh Gross) Battery. Any deviations from the aforementioned parameters can lead to reduced power output and even to the overboost not being available at all.” Nice. I’d like to know how the driver is supposed to achieve these conditions out on the road!!!

It offers all of its torque instantly, so it’s actually more fun and practical zipping around town. Darts away from roundabouts very easily etc. Hope that helps.
@@ETERNITY777who cares I would of passed it on for the next EV after 4yrs with another car with 800km range when density increases. Ev's from 4 yrs ago had 350km range at best with the likes of Mazda and early teslas
It doesn’t charge per technical specifications on either AC or DC so is not fit for purpose. Frequently (75/80% of time) half charges on overnight charging even in a built in garage so actual range achieved overnight is useless. Very slow 5-80% charging on DC supercharge: 50/55 minutes not 35, so not suitable for motorway driving
I love this car. The new Cupra Born VZ 320ch will coming soon 😍😍😍
Yep, the VZ should be interesting. More power, sportier suspension etc.
When you park and take off the seatbelt, you get an option to "air condition immediately" which keeps the AC running when you get out
Great review DE you can clearly tell you have a wealth of knowledge and ofter driving Born I agree with your assessment
Thanks for the drive
Aircon can be set to remain on or off within vehicle settings...
Ok thanks. Do you have to set this each time?
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia it's supposed to stay in the setting last selected. But I can't confirm if it actually does.
@@drivingenthusiastaustraliayes it will only stay on for 30 minutes after parking

It’s an excellent point. I’ve often wondered the same thing - these new big screens can be just as distracting.

Heavier than a VF Wagon . 😮
Good review 👍
Thanks!

Thanks.
Yes, Cupra is owned by VW.

Interesting proposition, hopefully in the next update they will have lost 250-300kg, got some rear air vents and better tyres….

The car would keep the battery temperature in the correct range, as for the SOC, obviously up to the operator

Cup Racing hence Cupra
Around town review? Concerned that a 2ton hatch is gonna feel like a slouch about roundabouts and drive like junk with 5 people and some luggage

🤑 WHAT IS NEW ELECTRIC BATTERY REPLACEMENT COST $40000.00 DOLLARS ?🤑
I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ll try and find out for you 👍
It's free for the first 8 years or 160,000 km, which is a general industry standard.

Poor EV in my experience
It's pronounced crap-ca🤣 owned by Volkswagen then definitely my pronunciation is fitting.
😂
