Watching this on holiday in Malta, seeing the crusader history and later british importance as a chokehold in the Mediterranean makes me wish vicky 3 placed more emphasis in the importance of holding certain territories like Malta and Singapore

A communist utopia that goes really wide instead of really tall could be interesting as a next idea. I had a fantastic campaign as Wallachia into Romania into a Communist Danubian Federation the other day, for example.

@@thompkins6796 He should have went with needs of the province by local prices early on I think. Then build a construction sector, let the capitalists get rich and remove the workers buildings later on. Not let the people privatize them to be able to remove them.
My favourite part of every Victoria 3 campaign gotta be: 'Our standard of living increased to 10. We are now... impoverished.'

In my USA run I am currently playing I inadvertently made El Salvador into basically this, they were the first I invited in my Trade League and made a bilateral agreement with them and well ...... by 1900 they had a 27.4 Standard of Living and they actually skyrocketed their population to about 600 000 due to all of the migration from countries in South America I invited in my union. These guys owned a lot of industry in my country, like a lot, but it was fine, we both benefitted from this arrangement (and that would hee hypocritical of me to blame them, I did the same to like Venezuela, Brazil, Iran or Japan for example)

i did the same thing nearly 2 years ago with cyprus, i had 95 mil gdp and i think 5 mil population with a standard of living of 30 something by the end.
To explain further i got lucky with the poem events getting 3, became an austrian protectorate and eventually build up my economy and becoming a major, then the ottomans had become a regional power so with austria's help i made them my protectorate and then i did the same to greece. Afterwards i formed byzantium but the stats i said above was right before i annexed them and formed byzantium. Additionally i had to turn back into a monarchy to form byzantium because i got lucky at the start and became a presidential Republic. After forming byzantium i turned back into a Republic.
If you want to do tjis again why not with luxembourg or switzerland?
Start with one that’s not a subject, maybe more pops but that could be wrong, I’m just thinking any extra minting at the start might help snowball you faster
You should have went by local prices in YOUR ONLY PROVINCE and check what your population lacks if you wanted your Standard of Living to grow early on.
Your market's access to resources doesn't matter that much, it's the province that needs resources.
I guess your strategy was also great. Not sure what's better. I think in the early game it's better to start with providing needs and later on build a construction sector, let the capitalists build, go laissez-faire remove normal buildings maybe except farms not to have workers because on laissez-faire everything is privatized and you can't destroy private buildings and let the capitalists build in other nations.
Also maybe you should build many ports and utilise free trade and trade route competetiveness profits but not sure.
Need to give Malta a try and check that on my own.
If you mixed the trade with the private investment scheme in the late game, I'm sure you would have skyrocketed both the financial districts and the number of capitalists.
Gonna try this strat later to check if my deduction is correct
If you could get graduated taxation the dividends tax woulda let you have a lot more construction sectors. But that seems hard to make happen lol.
