$90 4RUNNER Suspension UPGRADE! - Aftermarket Bump Stops
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- In this video we will be doing an easy yet effective suspension modification to out 5th gen 4Runner. We will be replacing the front and rear bump stops with a bigger and better option for a smoother ride on and off-road. Please note: This mod was done on a lifted 4Runner so I cannot confirm how these bump stops will sit or function on a stock height vehicle.

How much lift on yours?
I dont think it will hurt. It will add a little bit of firmness maybe, when hitting minor bumps in the mall..
@@joebagodonutssummertime8267 I have a 3” lift on mine
You just started a run on those things. Lol... My wife wants me to research the same type of thing for her Rav4 Woodland hybrid. Lol... Great video from a great channel. Thanks bro!
Thanks! I've been meaning to do an upgrade on these! Great advice!
Thank you! I like budget builds.
great video , thx !
outstanding!
Thank you!
Can you make a video on how to safely jack the 4runner (front and back) and location of the jack stands.
Check out this video at the 1 minute mark

@@T4Rgarage thank you very much!
Judging by the amount of likes this is getting I should probably make a dedicated video. I’ll try and have one out soon. Cheers
Thank you for your videos. I have a question: what jack lift and stands do you use for your work or which one would you recommend?
If I have stock suspension, will this help with the roughness of going through potholes?
2023 with KDSS
I used to run those energy bumps but after awhile i found them too soft and bottoming out my shocks. The ride was awesome tho way better than stock. I now run the extended perryparts bumps. Check em out.
Can I run extended bump stops with a mild lift?
I’ll check them out, thanks!
@voodooblue6162 I run extended for 35s. Perryparts also sells the normal version.
@@rajeezle1 Yeah, I've heard a lot of great things about the company. The founder is very responsible and takes care of his customers.
@@rajeezle1 I was just wondering if I would gain more benefits from the extended version than the normal version.
Would you want to do this if you don’t off-road? Any benefits for the every day driver?
The rear bump stops youve linked have a vehicle compatability warning on amazon. I know you said and showed that they contact well so im just letting everyone know that amazon puts out a warning before purchase.
Yes, they are designed for the Lexus and 4th Gen 4Runner, but also work in the 5th Gen
Great tip on the bump stops! Is there a minimum lift required to run the Energy Suspension front bump stops? I suppose it may be related to the height difference to stock bump stops?
I have heard of people running them on a stock setup. They may touch and work sooner making your suspension a bit stiffer as it’s compresses. Because they are touching they may wear sooner but I cannot confirm that as I have not done it personally
They’ll touch sooner but it’s soft, so the dead stop is roughly the same.
Key here isn’t the lift itself, but rather your shock’s collapsed length; It’s the job of the shocks to control motion, not the bump stops. The bump stop’s job is to protect the shock bottoming out and blowing into two pieces, hence why the collapse length is what you need to be looking at, not the lift. I can have the same shock, lift it 1”, 2”, or 3”, my collapse length would still be the same.
It’ll work for stock setup, and lifted trucks provided the shock collapse length is less than ~17 1/8”.
They have a black version, same part number 8.9104G. Is it the same? Sure seems to be
Is this something that would benefit a 2wd on the street (e.g. ride comfort, handling potholes, etc)?
It will help for potholes for sure
Can you use these bump stops in the 4th gen 4Runner?
Yes, I run these on mine.
Do you think the Energy front stops will work with stock suspension height? Pretty sure your rig is lifted…
They will work just expect them to be touching and kick in sooner making your suspension travel progressively stiffer. Because they are touching they may wear sooner
@@T4Rgarage You did mention to maybe cut some off a little.
Did you get your trd skid plate from cartrimhome? How do you like it? I know it has an access panel for oil change, but I wonder if it’s as strong as the OEM one.
I did. Seems to be pretty strong. I have taken rocks to it and it seemed to hold up with minor dents and flexed back for the most part. Where are you located?
@@T4Rgarage Edmonton.
Ordered today. Getting low on inventory, I wonder why lol.
😂 I just looked, I think you’re right
will this fit the 5th gen limited?
Yes they will
Excellent! I love budget options, I hadn't heard of these. All I've been hearing about lately are the Perry parts. The rear bump stops are clearly longer, do they compress all the way or do they act as extended bump stops for lifted applications?
They are longer but they are also much softer. I think they can work for both lifted and stock vehicles. My wheels were tucked in pretty far before they engaged, but like lots of articulation and I only have 33. For a lifted vehicle with larger tires you might want even longer bump stocks. Keep in mind these were designed for a factory height Lexus GX
I purchased the rear bump stops from Amazon, put them on and put screw holes closer to outside of truck and flat part in like you stated but passenger side seems to not line up as well as driver side. My driver side rear looks exactly like yours in the video so I don’t think I have them reversed or anything. The two Amazon bump stops look identical in design so don’t seem to be left or right.
Each package should have a different part number sticker on it. They are different and not identical. Did you confirm the correct part number with side, I put a photo up in the video for reference
The linked part on Amazon is what I ordered and both came in one bag. I saw the pics you put in the video, this was one bag. The parts I received look the same as yours but no differentiation between the two.
@@BK-rz7xq That is strange, mine came in a box with two separate labeled bags inside one large bag 🤔 my suggestion would be to swap sides and see if it works that way. If not, you may need to use Amazon to create a shipping label and return them as they may have sent you the wrong parts. I know of another fella who ordered them through the link and it came the exact same way mine did. He sent me a photo of the parts, so I know the link is the same. Please try reversing them and if it does not work let me know.
I can email you pics, doesn’t really help but atleast you can see what I am talking about. I don’t think I can post pics in comments.
@@BK-rz7xq it’s okay they do look similar but have slight differences. Please try reversing sides if it’s not too much hassle
I just sent this video to a friend of mind he has a 2021 Toyota forerunner TRD and it was all blacked out from the dealership
Love the 4 runner you guys have I have a 2919 TRD sport the 4 Runner is next 👍👍👍🦾🦾🦾
48036-60011 and 48036-60010 are the differences in Toyotas numbers, which equates to left and right. Correct me if wrong.
Possibly the company that is shipping them is not seeing the difference when packaging.
When I got mine they were individually packaged with the correct numbers. Did you receive something else?
Drivers 48036-60011, Passenger 48306-60201
@@T4Rgarage Just about to order and noticed some comments. When I researched it, those numbers popped up. So, I think yours were packaged properly, and some got mismatched and just need to return them.
Am I the only one who had to get new hardware for the fronts?
I had to go to Ace and get two M10x30mm-1.25 cap screws.
The ones that came with it were the wrong thread pitch.
Did you measure the bolt that came in the kit?
@@joebagodonutssummertime8267 The ones in the kit looked the same but were 1.50 thread pitch.
@@Smokey0284 Thnx. I will have some on standby when I install them in a couple weeks
Sumo springs for me !
there is no reason to overpay for bump stops. ES bump stops are easy to extend by adding a spacer if you need to extend them for whatever reason. In this day and age there is always a sucker willing to pay 300 dollars for a piece of rubber and some stickers. This mod (energy suspension) is legit.
That is the worst felling
