This is really cool! I know most people wouldn’t find something like this all too interesting. But from a LEGO designer prospective, I thinks it’s fun so see the progression of a design. Very relatable
😎😎❤️
Wow yes
Relatable indeed.
This is getting interesting. Can't wait to see what you are up to, concerning the GBC model
Game boy color?
@@lyastrife Great British Cook-off?
@@lyastrife great ball contraption. Search for Akiyuki brick Channel for more information.
Great big co-
@@Oo0oO520 i like that
Using the concept of emergence to continuously ''upgrade'' the depth and detalization of a Lego build is incredibly smart.
Iterative design at it's finest. Really cool little detail :)
It's amazing just how much the aethetic changed when you switched the flat slopes to curved. It really brought it together!
As a serious LEGO builder, do you just always have all the pieces you want to use at hand? Like you have all the grey bricks, white slope and red frame tiles in this model just stashed away in a drawer and you only need to reach in ans get them. Or do you ever run into a situation where you want to use a piece but don't have it available? Or maybe you only work on models you know you can complete with your arsenal of bricks?
For something like this, with basic bricks, slopes and tiles in common colours, I pretty much had all the pieces on hand. That is definitely not always the case, though. For the rest of this model, I made 6 Bricklink orders and 2 Bricks and Pieces orders to get all the parts I needed.
I was gonna ask that but thanks
This was super cool to watch and I would definitely like to see more videos like this.
Do you ever sometimes hit a point where you feel like you've "over-designed" and need to scale back details that you've added?
Yes sometimes rarely
1x2 upside down slope bricks are probably m favorite lego element
This was a really fascinating look at your thought process.
Well excited to see what this turns into! I like seeing the process.
Possibly the best 'How I Design' Lego videos out there. I have been struggling with the philosophy of designing stuff. Using software. Hand drawing. This method seems to be the best because, like in "Close Encounters..." One should try sculpting. Putting bricks together is the most direct design method out there. More, please!
Yeah I always start out with mashed potatoes, stare at it, and say “This means something!” 🤣
@@Sinjinator I love it when someone recognizes an obscure reference from a good movie.
Yup, this is pretty much how my MOCs evolve.
The difference between version 1.0 and X.X is always astounding.
This videos are incredible but also really satisfying. 👍👏
Great insight 👍👍 love the way you added the studs as bolts to that frame!!
This is awesome. Looks perfect for a bowling alley MOC.
Fantastic! This is now my go to video to send people to explain what the building process is like
It's inspiring to see your process for design. Thanks for sharing!
Love how he keeps putting the ball through like "yup, still works"
It's really useful and inspiring to see your design process, thank you for sharing it!
Thanks for this! I appreciate your builds and want to know more about how you (and all of us can) build “next level”
Such great idea and demo to share this kind of workflow 🙏
So cool to see your iterative process
I would love to see more design process videos from you, this was great! Thank you 😊
Short and simple, that's what I like
That's the best way to build in my opinion. I build and tear it down and rebuild til I am comfortable with it's look
This has me really curious for what your next main build is
Very interesting. Not even only for Lego, this can be applied to any kind of design.
I absolutely love how after each iteration, he rolls the ball through
And I'm here, buying a set, follow the instructions, display it and that it lol
You are so creative 👍
What a precious lesson!
Nice job on this one, it's looking great! Just keep at it I'm sure you'll come up with something you're quite happy with.. Keep on building!
i love the process! so creative
Looking amazing, Jason!
Cheers, thanks dude!
To test functionality like the ball rolling there's no way around using physical bricks.
But for the level of building and rebuilding you were doing after you had it working I usually go into Bricklink Studio.
I wouldn't make a very good artist. At every intermediary step I was like "Looks great! You're done!".
That's really cool to watch, I love design process stuff :3
This is very applicable to LEGO machines!
Architect here. You've just shown a very nice tectonics study. I am assuming it was all intuition on your part (in contrary to theory/books), which is indicative of your expertise in this field. What you have shown is truly the essence of architecture - giving meaning to building elements so people can identify them without any prior instructions. If you wish to study this problem further, I would suggest looking into historical examples: Greek Classical orders would be a great start.
I can recommend some books if you want as well.
I am guessing a thumb up as an interest in book reccomendation - The Metope and the Triglyph by Monestiroli is great. The logic of architecture looks promising, although I've just started to read it.
Great Ball Contraption!
The large number 2 on the right side of the system looks cool too.
I love this kind of vids
very cool!
I love that your including your voice
The design is very cool 👍
Moral : You can't get ENOUGH slopes .
So takeaway is a man can never have too many slopes
I have never thought about this until now. I know when you use specific blocks, your build will get more beautiful. But I have never seen an "evolution" before.
Very interesting
Id love to see you build a pinball machine.
The biggest problem I run into when deconstructing and reconstructing over and over is I've been known to forget a detail here and there and the reconstruction often turns out to be another variation altogether. And then my ACD (ADHD & OCD kidding, but...) suggests I document each build in progress, which in turn slows the progress.
I can definitely relate. This used to happen to me quite often when rebuilding prototypes. I eventually learned to always take pictures before taking anything apart and rebuilding it, in case I forget some detail of it.
@@JKBrickworks aw heck, I enjoy learning new things, over and over and over......
Sometimes it helps to look at the real world version of some machinery. Ergonomics, worker health and safety, emergency kill switches etc can give a realistic level of detail.
LETS GO can’t wait for a new gbc/ marble thing
I have been watching you for a year and I still don't understand what gbc stands for lol
ok now i need to know how the final version looks like
It has similar/parallels to the construction process in architecture.from the simple form to the detailed element informations. A wall in the preproject is just solid. A wall in the construction project has all the information and details.. 🇨🇭
cool
Wow
The back: P A T H E T I C
i’m subbing
All I need is some more legos, some small balls, all I’d try making something like this
Pls can you explain your lego storage, I am rly in trouble with my lego pieces 😅
Wow it looks really good!!! Are you going to change bottom bracket to top one for making ball to change its movement direction?
And also another inventions for new GBC?
Yes, finally another GBC module! The ball will stop at the end, and something will come and pick it up.
@@JKBrickworks Wow it sounds brilliant!!! I hope your idea will be as good as you imagine and even better ;) Good luck👍😊
This is what I see when I level up my town hall 8 times (COC)
That's pretty much how it goes with almost any design project in which form is at least equally as important as function. I wonder what there making that could require orange balls.
This guy should get hired from Lego
Mmm LEGO. A crunchy snack.
What are the benefits of rebuilding physical legos over designing it virtually and build it afterwards?
WEDGES MAKE IT LOOK MORE PROFESSIONAL #WEDGEGANG
I thought you were making a gumball machine at first! I used to love lego candy machines when I was little, with all the interior mechanisms, have you ever considered making one?
You promised me making a sonic lego set last time you streamed
I think this a good design rules in general, to emphasize openings. The human eye has eyelids, eyelashes and eyebrows. Beautiful old buildings usually have framed windows in high contrast with with the glass and the walls. Boring and ugly designs often lack these additions.
Super Cool 64
NEED MORE S L O P E S
I’m a minecraft builder and i can relate to this video :)
is there a rule that plates not on top need to be supported under every stud? it feels like the walls going up could benefit from a lot more structural rigidity by putting some blocks in place of certain snot wall 1x1s
No, definitely no 'rule' about that. It was just easier to build it this way while prototyping. I think I removed a couple of unnecessary bricks with studs on their sides in the final version.
👍
How do people get so many Legos peices?
You promised me making a sonic set
Welp, i never get those 2min back
Can you make a motorized car?
Lego building is like trial and error right? Because that's how I build lego without the manuals xD
Can't have enough slopes
Good that this is not Mario Maker, otherwise this many slopes would surely break something. :D
The piraka amunition factory
Does this mean there’s a new GBC module on the way???!!!!???
(Please say yes)
Do you use digital design tools?
Occasionally, I will mock something up in Stud.io. It is easier for some things, like trying different colour combinations, but I prefer to use real bricks most of the time.
How did you get so many legos?!?
Pretty sure you can buy specific legos. forgot where though..
Bricks and Pieces is an official Lego shop for purchasing individual elements. Bricklink is a marketplace where people can put up their own pieces or sets for sale. These two are mentioned in a comment by the author, but there are other alternatives as well.
Make this an official Lego set
Helicopter soup
Oh. From the thumbnail I thought you were going to buy a crematorium.
I used to do stuff like this all the time. Then I discovered OCD meds and behavioral therapy.😋
When will the guitar start playing?
GBC?
Clash of clans upgrades be like:
it look like lips and teeth, id change the colours a lil bit

In Germany you would get sued bc they are bricks from alternative brands and not LEGO in particular.
?? These are all LEGO brand bricks, lol.
@@JKBrickworks Bruh im sorry. On my little Smartphone screen it looked like there is no LEGO branding on top of the Bricks like there is on every LEGO brick. Thats why I assumed they are other ones. Sorry
No worries, dude. 👍
