Wranglerstar do a video about what do you think of jerusalem and trump please
He can't. That's the way things work now.
Cody love all the vids and I'm not complaining but it's just wrong to use fox gloves for carpentery
Have you guys ever thought about a pellet stove?
Shikamaru6900 wood is free
Your relationship with your wife is very inspiring to a young guy like me Cody. I’ve been dating (with intention) my girlfriend for four years, and we’re 19. The way you treat Mrs. W and your children is a testament to how God intended for us to treat our partners. I know as viewers we only see a glimpse of what your personal life is like, but it’s obvious that the love is present, in a world where it’s becoming scarce. Thank you for sharing that with us, I can promise you that it’s setting an example for many young men like myself.
amen to that!
Oh man
i agree
Amen !
Amen
Cody you and Mrs. W... You are so beautiful together. And now a beautiful little girl. A few videos earlier the baby cried and down came your son, what a great moment you captured on film. I thank you for sharing your life with us. Bless you all! Can't wait for the next video.
My son belongs to our local 4H club and he took on chickens as his project last year. As with anything, there is a start up cost and work involved, but at this point it is minimal. My son has learned responsibility in caring for the animals and some business skills selling his eggs. It's been a very enjoyable experience for him and my family. Of course there's something that just makes food that you've grown or raised taste that much better too I think....
Enjoyed the video Cody, Mrs. W, and Dee. Remodel work can be a pain when you have to build on someone else's error. I enjoy the channels where they keep livestock, they don't hide how much work it is. My German teacher was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin. Up before daybreak, continental breakfast, chores, big breakfast, school, homework, chores, supper. The chores are seven days a week, those animals won't wait. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Bro. Cody.
Nice job.
For viewers, the construction words you were looking for were,
•level,
•plumb,
•square.
In New Jersey we lived 3 years in a 145 year old house that was none of those things. Our niece made us a sign declaring it to the Crooked Little House, as in the poem.
It was very enjoyable to see some family meal and interaction footage.
Your greatest accomplishment was marrying that woman!!! What a blessing.
Much better looking breakfast then the juice from last week. Great video. Good to support your local farmers.
Cody,
I honestly hope to meet a woman as selfless as Mrs W. She serves as great example of how to meet half way. I guess I’m old fashioned but I respect you two very much for how you treat each other. Great work with the videos
I think it’s neat that these kinds of things come so easy to you. Thanks for taking us along. Also thanks for letting us come inside for a little bit. What a wonderful feeling to come in from the cold after working to a hot breakfast. You’re loved. That’s for sure.
I know there were comments about leaving the prayer in. I’m glad you did. It says a lot about you. The prayer itself and the act of leaving it in shows you have your priorities straight. :-)
When I start losing faith in humanity all I have to do is turn on wrangstar and watch you and your beautiful family just being together! Its like spiritual fuel! Thank you for allowing us in your home!
I have to second what Anthony Rasmussen said because he said it so well. This kinda video is the reason I have followed The Wranglerstar Family for so long, I have watched Jack grow up thank you for that now we get to watch The Wranglerstarlet grow up. I don't think we say it enough to The Wranglerstar Family Thank You so much for sharing you family with us. Rick from Swansea Illinois.
Beautiful video. Cody I loved it. I received one of best compliments of my entire 50 year life the other day . It made me feel so wonderful and gives me so much joy.
Not to long after, I began thinking WHO makes ME feel that way.
The answer was simple . Wranglerstar. or you. The compliment was.
' After watching your video , I felt like were friends , even though , we've never met. '
Thanks again for sharing your life with us.
Thank you Phillip
Done, Over and Finished, but was it just me or others wondering why Cody did not turn the board around that he buggered up and would have been fine with no issues?
Cody and Mrs Wranglerstar... I've been holding off on this for a few videos but the time has come when I must extend my congratulations on your expanding family. God has seen fit that you should have another member to love and nurture. Truly his blessings are upon your family. congrats again!!!
Happy for the new addition to your videos. Warmed my heart for you and the Mrs. praying for your meal. Love and prayers for you and your family.
Loved this video, Cody, Mrs. W and Dee! Thank you for sharing your life with us.
I absolutely love this video! It's so nice to see two adults enjoying a quite breakfast together, and planning the day. It's such a rare opportunity in my home, as life journey starts for me earlier than my wife, but we do set on day aside for this all important time and that would be Sunday. We get up early make a nice breakfast, and relaxed and enjoy each other's company. The baby is just adorable, I'm so happy for your family. Please keep up the great work with these vlogs, thanks for sharing your lives with ours, and all those who subscribe to your channel....your family is truly a blessing on this Earth, you inspire myself and many others to be better people, thank you. Say hi Mrs. W, Jack, and little D.....
Thank you David
Try building the corner off the house and install with shim strips against the sheathing, that way the corner is square and the shim strip fills the gap. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks!
Cody dropped that tool belt quick when it came time to eat breakfeast.lol
lol IKR!
I would too for a breakfast like that.
That seductive little wink she shot him just before the 15:00 mark did the same thing but he edited it out ! LOL
Mr. Wranglerstar i love your videos. You are man who loves quality and detail and quality of your videos is wonderful! Keep it up.
you're so awesome to watch! Your lifestyle and the care you put into things is super inspiring
I have a wood stove identical to yours. Once that soapstone warms up it really keeps things cozy on an Alaskan Winter night.
A little tip put a piece of scrap wood under the nail puller so you don’t dent the wood.
A bit late in posting but could not resist commenting. My comment is not about the siding but all workers need a break and your break allowed for family intervention. This reminds us all to take time for the family. Your thank you was what appears to have been a kiss to the neck. I'll bet she reveled in that gesture all day.
You and your family are a joy it is so good to hear you pray before a meal.
What’s for breakfast Frenchtoast eggs bacon Oh I better have some of that
After pulling the nails u should have just turned the board around..
That's what I was thinking
Even with the new, improved corner detail, you still should address air infiltration at the corner. Housewrap should go around and lap at least 6" and then be taped. Since that would be difficult, a peal and stick flashing tape would do well.
Best opening line yet! Marginal construction advise that won't help you at all. Lmao
I respect the honesty.
It is such a wonderful blessing watching such nice family and congratulations on your new daughter.
Well.......is hard to said how much I like your vids. Always bring up something to learn. And it is one of the best day to relax after a hard day.
Once she said what the food was, he was up and out. 😂
I liked the breakfast break and of course an appearance from Dee. She is such a sweetie pie!
I fall more in love with that kitchen every time I see it!! Do you have before and after pictures of the house renovations?
Finally, finally, you are putting the siding back up on your house! This has been quietly driving me nuts for about 9 months now . . . doing a good job too.
When pulling nails, it's a good idea to put a thin scrap between the puller and the board. It will reduced damage to the board.
David Cunningham
I always use an old worn out 6" stainless putty knife to pry against.
Kevin Ball - Finally, some non marginal advice. 8^)
Cody talks about the pacific northwest like people from Brooklyn talk about New York. Simultaneously the best place on earth and the worst place for weather.
Love me some marginal construction advice.
Chris Landry
He is being sarcastic
I think you're incorrect there, Marcus. Facebook comments are the lowest form of wit. :-)
glad my country uses real building materials :) brick and cement lasts centuries no rott
girlsdrinkfeck 🙄
Not in Christchurch, NZ. Earthquakes in 2011 destroyed alot of concrete and brick structures. All deaths were from collapsed concrete and masonry buildings. And heavy facades falling on people.
That’s a great effort with the construction, it’s also refreshing to see someone who works and adapts their thought process as they go and be honest if they didn’t quite get something right the first time..... makes me feel a bit better about the work I attempt and take several try’s at to get right.
Used to have chickens, but now I like the fresh ones a friend gives me. I give her baked goods she gives me eggs. It makes for community. And thank you for showing saying grace before meals, telling Mrs W thank you for a good breakfast. Good role models you two are.
Regarding caulking that takes up gaps:
Make sure the gap is generous enough so that the caulk can stretch to accommodate expansion and shrinkage of wood. If your are applying a bead of caulk to a joint where two pieces of wood are in contact with each other, the joint will start to rip from the back side of the caulk joint as soon as there is some movement between the boards. With a wide joint and a foam caulk backer rod or bond breaker tape even a wide joint will not stress the caulk that has to stretch to keep attached to both sides.
In the case of those two corner boards, a routed groove about a quarter inch wide and 3/8" deep with some bond breaker tape in the bottom and then fill it with silicone would last forever..
Another awesome video! This was very fascinating to watch, here in South Africa 99% of our houses are brick and mortar construction and watching construction of a wooden house is truly something different.
Blessings upon you and your family Cody, waiting in suspense for the next video.
I've been using trim head screws on thick cedar boards. Works better than nails, and you don't have to worry about that last hammer strike making donkey tracks.
Really liking these casual videos lately. Thank you for everything you and your family does!
got to love it my house is built in 1909, and in michigan ,nothing straight and not sealed vary good been remodeling and it's a chore straightening every thing out.
Can't beat a good breakfast made by the wife after an early start building. Simple things a lot of people do not appreciate.
More wives need to be like Wranglerstar's wife. Never getting in the way, never whining, only doing what the man expects out of the wife.
Zed Man Indeed! I'm always a happy man after a nice plate of fresh eggs and sizzling bacon whipped up by my little woman. Of course I make them for her too, but I think hers are better.
Cody I love the modern homesteading videos you've inspired me to do this with the mrs. once I'm out of the army
Very nice lesson on correcting a bad siding work. Thanks again for your continued videos !
hello, i just wanted to take a few minuets out of my day to say what a nice kind-hearted person you are. In a way you are a hero to me, with every video you make my view on life changes for the better and i become a slightly better person with kinder intentions and a more profound knowledge. Thank-you for making this excellent content, i feel you are a very under rated you-tuber and deserve even more likes, comments and subscribers.
keep it up my good friend.
Stacked, squared beams do NOT a log home make.
A log home is constructed with actual logs.
Your up-grading is admirable, making your house livable & comfortable.
A true log house would not need such up-grading.
Thank you for helping folks with similar struggles.
Great video Cody and Mrs. W. I love spending my time at your place. I am liking the Irwin chisels, odd, the were usable sharp out of the box, thanks for the heads up. Finish the sled when you have time, it is very nice.
just start at the bottom and the final board that you didn't take off at the top is the only one that should need exposed nails. (I'm not a siding professional, just what I've been taught.)
You cant blind nail beveled cedar siding. its too thin at the top
John Weiss that is what he's doing.
I love the Codyisms. Yes, Mr. Wranglerstar it does look specialer! Always look forward to your videos!
Im American and im over seas and when i heard what the breakfast was a tear came out of my eye i miss America so much
I like the trick of removing the bull-noses, and I will incorporate that step into my future projects. Breakfast looked delicious!
Hey Cody, hope your enjoying your winter, the skiing seems pretty inconsistent this year. I really like your stove. my grandparents had one of the old front loading stoves with a glass window, I broke the glass glass on the stove the winter my grandfather passed away in 2002. boy was my dad angry about paying to replace it. I really do enjoy the vlogs you post. I am enjoying what you are doing this winter.
nice video. I am glad to see y'all finishing up this one Cody. great idea. it's going to look nice all finished up. thanks for the video.
That looks great Cody... keep up the good work... love the baby :-) God Bless...
Remodeling should always done correctly, not compromising because previous work was not.
The corner board and siding should be shimmed. Everything should be straight and plumb. No excuses.
Did I miss stapling some house wrap over that corner before the wood went up?
Clone Mrs W and send her to Texas! What a GREAT wife! You are truly blessed Mr W!
Mrs. W is one hell of a good woman and a good cook and always happy
Gerald Loeffers
She made eggs, turkey bacon and French toast. I'm not saying she's a bad cook, but that's not really the meal you judge a culinary genius on. ;)
Well, that's one point of view on the chickens.
We keep a small flock, and it definitely isn't worth the trouble now... but it would be if things were to change for the worse. It's like gardening... figure it out now while it's easy, and then have the asset when it's needed.
If you nail through the bottom of each feather edge boad so that the nail just misses the top of the board below, then the boards can shrink, and swell as much as they want to without splitting. Love these vidios keep them comming.
Cody it doesn't matter what topic you do a video on its always very enjoyable just love your UA-cam channel
Really enjoying this new format for the videos. The day in the life stuff is great, and it’s a nice mix of interesting viewing
Good to see I'm not the only one who works in dirt bike gloves. I have tried just about every pair of work gloves around here that i can get my hands on and they are either to thick and you cant feel anything with your fingers in them or pick up small things or they are too thin and you wear them out in a day or less but good old fox dirt bike gloves or pretty much any modern pair are great and they are generally cheaper then the work gloves and have a good amount of silicon rubber gripper pattern on them.
Oh man! I'll be over in the morning for breakfast! Love the look of that bacon and those eggs! Great video, I've been cussing people who do things like you are dealing with. I too, live in a rural area (on the wet side of the mountain) and run into "farmer construction" all the time.
Beautiful video Wranglerstar. Do what you can with what you've got. WOW boy oh boy that breakfast looked fit for a King lol. Good to see lil Dee and Mrs W making an entrance. ☺
Great job. You work kind of like I do. Hammer, clamps, and all. But I have to use 1/4" putty sometimes. It is nice and fun to fix up something and it looks nice to boot. Looks like you are going to have to put Dee on the payroll. Those "cameos" are getting more and more frequent. I enjoy seeing all of the family now and then. Keep it up!
absolutely LOVE seeing the new addition to the family. you guys are great and love the channel
It looks good! Put some screws in those corners. It will pull and keep the boards together. Also, bevel the top of your corner bords so the snow and rain doesn't sit on top. Mrs.W puta on a great breakfast! Saying the blessing, thumbs up!
my english is not the best, but at 1.25 it sounded like you meant that the area you live in, it's really common for the wood to rot. just want to share an interesting thing, in the north part of sweden, they don't even need to paint the wood, beacuse it never rots anyway. saw a house up there that is built in something like 1650 without any paint that still stands today!!
That was an Outstanding breakfast...now I'm hungry. Oh yeah, nice job on the siding, too. Blessings.
Baby comes out... Cody "Eww gross" I really enjoy these videos 👍
LOL This is like a rerun of when my dad was trying to fix the old log cabin in the Hood River valley where we lived when I was a kid. Nothing was straight and the walls were papered with newspaper. My dad, being a teacher, found that pretty cool. Especially when he found a page with notification of President Lincolns assassination. He carefully preserved all that stuff all for naught because the golf course people bought the property and bulldozed the house down before the historical society could even get the papers filed to preserve it.
I just started watching and subscribed,I can truly appreciate who you are and what you believe. thank you
Now thats a breakfast. Poor tractor neglected (looking for snow). Nice gloves remind me of your motorcycle gloves. I knew you would like that nail puller. I like siding but, it is a pain getting the runs to come together on the corners (from two different sides of the house...even more fun is snap together vinyl siding).
I love the quality with which you always try to build .That's real class.
Why didn't you simply turn the board over putting the nail puller damage against the building? That would give you a fresh face on the outside and not require any filling.
He's not a carpenter.
Obviously, but he is a thinking man and some things are just so obvious that you wonder how anyone could miss them.
Possibly wanted to keep the crown of the lumber upwards, you know lumber tends to twist
Possibly, but it is installed vertically and he cut the crown off to get square edges.
I TOTALLY agree with you about chickens! Hubs and I were doing research and after all of the work and expense of maintaining chickens - I wondered where the actual savings were in 'having your own eggs'?
For next time, maybe some rough sawn 2x's so the exterior finishes match? And I'm wondering if that Lucas mill could be set up to cut siding? At $4 a lineal foot, might be worth it.
After pulling the nails, you could flip the piece over to hide most of the damage... or, I missed something... Nice work though. I'm dealing with similar problems trimming out some new windows on an 1850's plank frame house. Because of the construction, I'm having to put the trim on over the siding, and use foam to seal the gaps. The Plank frame wall is only about two inches thick. I'll be furring the interior walls and adding some insulation... All the wiring has to be done with conduit. There's no hollow between the siding and the interior wall. And, then there are the shelf chimneys. Try bringing them up to code!
Finish screws are amazing for situations like that. Looks good great job Cody!
Put your corners together first and then put it on the wall. 30+ years experience here.
Does it change the end result?
If I understood you right, this is what would have been the propper way to do it. :)
I'm not trying to be critical of his work. I would have just gone about fixing that problem differently. I would have pre nailed the corner together so it was straight and then used a few shingles to shim out the siding where it meets the corner. That way, everything is straight. Just a suggestion if there's a next time.
Works for me, too. Maybe using a few strips of plywood (varying thicknesses), run vertically just out from the corner allows you to "blend in" the transition from dented corner to flat wall to the right.
I love reality television! Keep it up. Oh and by the way, best way to build a corner is to make it square and cut the back to fit the irregular wall.
Love seeing your projects and how you tackle each challenge! Thanks Cody!
who keeps disliking these videos and why? i on the other hand like most folks that follow the channel love all different types of videos congratulations you guys had baby girl!!!
ch3ckm4te480 maybe it’s cause he puts ads on the videos and says buy this thing it’s the best thing I’ve used. I don’t dislike but I can see why it would irk people
H. Collins, why don’t you tell us how you really feel. 😁. My humble opinion.. Take from it (Video’s) what you want and make your own decisions & conclusions.. Not sure what you’d consider a sellout.
Cody probably works the equivalent of a 70 + hour week producing these videos without a production crew. For a #1 man show (Pun intended ) he’s doing a darn good job.
He has a family to feed & this is a full time job..... Who cares if he endorses products. He’s usually spot on with his reviews, and offers up some great tips. He’s what I’d consider a Mr ROGERS On steroids... :-)
The good news... you can fast forward on any of his videos, and if it’s not of interest to you, You have the ability to move on quickly. Example: I moved right to the kitchen scene. Turkey bacon 🥓 and 🍳.. Made me so hungry I’m signing off to go eat dinner! ;-). Be well Y’All
It woud be great if you stayed away now that you unsubscribed or at least stopped your whiney commenting.
You never know what your going to find when you get into these old houses.
Soon as she said French toast and bacon he was up quick lmao
Great work, It’s always hard doing renovations on very old building’s, you can’t always make everything plumb and square, a lot of fudging is required,
i didnt read the whole thing but here in NZ we would put corner boards over the whole corner, over the top of the boards.say 1 x 4x1 and a 6x1 then there is a scriber board which is cut to the profile of the waetherboards and hence seals that gap.We get horizontal rain in NZ ...often
Siding repair looked good - but that breakfast looked great! And boy did you know it. Never seen tools dropped so quick....
Hi Cody, been a long time fan. Have a couple questions/comments concerning your technique for replacing the siding (Ive done a few houses with that exact type of siding, in cedar no less). Why did you choose nails for your fastener? I've always used pneumatic driven construction staples to great effect, and found they show much less. Also, Id highly recommend making up a pair of plywood jigs that space and level each next piece from the last, looks a bit like a stair stringer and can save you a lot of time. Always a pleasure coming along with you and the family, and congratulations on the new addition to it!
nails were used previously so making things match. Thanks,
Makes perfect sense to me, thanks for clarifying!
The inside of your house looks beautiful
When using one of the nail pullers like yours use a bit of a shingle or shim under the pressure point to protect the surface.
Cody, why not start at the bottom. Then only the top board would have an exposed nail
All nails are exposed or should be on that siding
draggin this baby thing on like the kardashians
Beautiful work..the only thing I would be done different is build out the wall to take out that bow out instead of cuting the 2x6 to fit
i feel for you there Cody, We just took over a house that was my wife's dads who passed back in June. It was built by her brother and some of his friends and it is a mess. He was working as a boat builder down on the coast and hope he did better work there or those boats would go down is a small storm. The house set empty for a year and went to pot, the deck which is like 58 by 12 was very bad and had new decking but it was not square anywhere some places were off by 3 inches in 8 feet. Plus the lumber and nails were another story, never seen that many different nails in one deck in my life. Wife wants to be in by this Christmas but it looking like that is not going to happen unless I get more help other than my son. It takes way more time to go back over bad work to get it right than to do it right the first time.
