    The average income in Spain is NOWHERE near €2,600 per month. This is the kind of income for the middle class in big cities. Outside those, it's well below €2000 per month & in many areas around €1500. Only 5 years ago, it was around €1000/month & unemployment is still high, which brings the average down even more...

      Please note that the minimum income requirement for this visa is 2x the national minimum wage in Spain, which in 2024 is €15,876 per year

    Does the requirement to work for your company for 3 months prior to moving apply when converting status from W2 to 1099? ie. if I am W2 employee now, and have been working at this company for 5 yrs- does that suffice? Or do I have to convert to 1099, work for 3 months, and then apply to move to Spain?
    Thanks!

    You only need to prove that you've been a remote worker in general for 1 year. not that you've held the position for 1 year. you only need to show 3 months of work history at a place.

    This is good advice but in Boston at the consulate they literally say they don't offer this. BLS also says only the consulate can deal with this visa however the site? It says not available however in Chicago and Miami it is. I have an appointment with BLS anyway and am trying to get into the consulate in Boston but it is extremely hard to manage this process in Boston area.

    Thanks for the video. I’m from the US and my company says I can’t work outside of the country, even with a visa. There’s nothing in their policy that talks about this. I think they’re worried about taxes. They say I have to be registered in the company with a U.S. address. Does the DNV protect companies from any issues here if they let their employees work in Spain with the DNV?

      With Spain's digital nomad visa, your company must be involved in the process as they will be responsible for either paying into Spain's social security or providing a social security certificate. This can be very complicated for employees trying to relocate to Spain. We've found it's much easier for freelancers. Many applicants change their roles from employee to freelancer to apply for this visa.

I’m from a country that gets 90 days visa exemption to the eu, I’d like to apply while in Spain on a tourist visa, problem is I’ll be doing some traveling around the EU and by the time I arrive to Spain, I’ll only have 10 days left on my 90 days visa exemption. Would this still be okay or would I get denied because of the time left on my tourist visa? Thanks 😊

      This can be a bit tricky. One requirement when applying in Spain is to prove that you entered the country legally. Usually, people fly directly into Spain and show the stamp on their passport for this requirement. Does anyone know if the employer would need to do anything additional to writing a letter of authorisation? I am wondering if paying tax and national insurance may impact them? If it does complicate things for the UK employer, they might be less likely to accept employees working from abroad. Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

    • @nomadsembassy
      @nomadsembassy  8 днів тому +1

      Your employer must be involved in the process as they will have to show a Certificate of Coverage for Social Security or agree to cover Spanish social security. Many applicants find it easier to apply as a freelancer/self-employed individual for this reason.
