I had the same exact problem with my Nikon D8 10. It fell off my tripod and broke the lens off the camera. I contacted Midwest camera repair in Michigan and they said it would be a $450 fix. Plus shipping and insurance. I really appreciate the video, and I may attempt to fix it myself. Thanks for giving me the confidence that I might be able to do it!
You are a life saver !!!!!! My pin broke in half on my D4 and a shop told me THE WHOLE front part of the camera needed to be replaced because they couldnt find a replacement pin. Wouldve been 500 ish dollars.....thanks again!
Absolutely brilliant! I wish I had that information when I purchased my first Canon AE-1 and broke off the lens. I had to buy another one. I'm sorry that I didn't keep it as now I probably could have fixed it! Great tutorial!
Thank you. Same happened to my D750. They need to disassemble almost the whole camera to get to the point where they can change the pin assembly. I have a second broken D750 with alot of spare parts in it, but your fix is way easier. The glue is not even needed, because the spring is pushing the nail always back to the lever.
You can use any epoxy that guarantees a tight bond and sticks to plastics and metals. I personally used jb superweld because it was a 2 in 1 and I didn’t have to mix anything. I hear the gorilla epoxy is stronger though. But my seal works just fine.
