    These fan reviews are perfect, seriously. Straight to the point, no intros, outros, sponsors, plugging merch, over the top B-roll, showing PC builds with the fans where you can barely see them, the reviewer’s face taking up 90% of the shot or monologues about price!
    They’re even great for previewing what a fan’s RGB will look like before buying it because for some reason other reviewers talk for 10 mins about the RGB but don’t actually show it for more than 10 seconds…
    Please please review Corsair’s new AF120 RGB Elite fans next!

      Most reviewers are often sponsored by the manufacturer and as such, they are always trying to show the reviewed product in a positive manner.

    Fantastic channel for those who wan't get some idea what noise at what speeds do different fans make and if they have some weird anomaly noises at cetrtain rpm's. Only advice I would give is not to crank up the speed so fast since a lot of fans tend to make some extra noise when speeding up but settle bit down if they stay at that speed.
    As far as this fan goes I really like the smooth noise curve unlike lot of other fans that are quiet and then only by a 100rpm margin get suddenly way way louder.

  • @drayquan23
    @drayquan23 Рік тому +1

    Eiglow, amazing work here, I love your channel! You are one of the very few reviewers who actually acknowledge the resonance factor, and not JUST the overall dB levels measured. Great stuff :)
    Does a reasonably priced AIO exist that includes radiator fans which output zero (or extremely minimal) resonance hum? (or perhaps only resonate in an rpm range that is very easily avoided with an adjusted custom fan-curve?)
    **I can deal with higher general overall 'dB' (turbulance/etc) noise, I just can't stand the more subtle resonance hum sound that nobody ever includes in their reviews! (except for you and very few others!)
    - I first got an LT520 Deepcool AIO (FK120 fans) which I returned because the resonance was so annoying.
    - The technicians at my local pc retailer recommended the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 (Arctic P14 fans), but they have a similar annoying resonance. -- I'm either swapping these fans or returning the whole unit).
    Buying an AIO, then buying extra stand-alone fans to swap in/replace included fans seems wasteful and needlessly expensive (if an AIO with no-resonance fans surely exists... ?). Please, help me find an AIO with fans that don't resonate! Higher dB is fine, just can't stand the low whistling humming noise, it drives me nuts!
    If this magical unicorn doesn't actually exist, I'll then respectfully ask what your best recommendation would be for stand-alone fans to swap in to my current AIO radiator (It's still in its return window though).
    Thanks!

    • @ydihtty
      @ydihtty  Рік тому +1

      I think the newer revisions of Arctic P series fans are supposed to have less resonance, but I haven't bought newer ones to confirm this, I've just heard other people talk about it.
      Besides that, you might have some luck with the following AIOs:
      - Any Corsair ones that use SP120 RGB Elite
      - EK AIO
      - Lian Li AIOs
      - MSI MAG CORELIQUID S series
      - Phanteks Glacier One T30 series
      - Thermaltake TOUGHLIQUID series
      - Gigabyte Aorus Waterforce X
      There are also other Deepcool AIOs like the Castle/Gammaxx series that use a different fan design which should have less resonance.
      Whichever you go with, please let me know how you go with it.

      @@ydihtty Update #1
      Thanks again btw - I've found time to do more research based around your listed suggestions (see @eiglow_ 's first reply, above this). I've shared some of my research/findings here, along with some advice that could be useful for others in the market for an AIO with resonance-free fans.
      TLDR: I cancelled the Phanteks Glacier One T30 order because (apparently) its the older/original version that is known to have a noisy/buzzy sounding pump. I instead went with the Thermaltake ToughLiquid 360, it arrived today, will update here after taking it for a spin.
      -----
      (note: I live in Canada, but when mentioning pricing here I'll be converting all $ amounts to USD equivalent for ease of reference)
      The Phanteks Glacier One T30 (the original version), although it has fantastic fans, it's said by many to have a notoriously noisy/buzzy sounding pump. One of the best examples of this can be found in a video (of said product) by "Machines & More" here on youtube.
      *They apparently fixed this pump buzzing issue with their new Glacier One t30 revision *"Gen2", but its impossible to find in my region for anywhere close to reasonable pricing (eg., lowest options I can find:
      $284 USD~ for the 240mm
      $440 USD~ for the 360mm
      (+ $36 USD shipping
      + taxes). lol.
      So, we're forgetting about phanteks for the time being... now, back to your list.
      - EK and Lian Li AIO's (at least in my region currently) are a similar story to the Gen2 Glacier One: Little to no options in stock at any local or online shipping retailers, and options that are available are ridiculously/hilariously overpriced.
      - CORSAIR AIO with SP120 RGB Elite fans:
      The only corsair AIO I could find with these fans still in stock anywhere is an older 240mm model: "H100x" RGB ELITE (couldn't find any 360mm with them). Luckily this particular old 240mm AiO is fairly well reviewed and is extremely low priced at only $100 USD~.
      Researching reviews/test data (including vids here on this channel, @eiglow_ ) show minimal/~zero resonance sound and generally good performance for a value/budget aio option. However, at only 1500rpm max, and only the 240mm option available, its cooling potential is limited at the high end with heavier multi-core cpu loads. So, on to the next potential option..
      Finally landed on your recommendation of Thermaltake ToughLiquid 360.
      - This uses fans which are nearly identical to the famous "Noctua NF-A12x25", just black/re-branded (TOUGHFAN 12, 2000RPM).
      Great price for a 360mm aio @ $140 USD~ with free shipping (I also got lucky catching one with only hours left on sale for only $121 USD~, wohoo!).
      This one doesn't include the bracket kit for the newest socket (eg. LGA 1700). It's an extra ~ $20 sold separately, not a huge deal, but this could be a bigger downside depending on its separate/potentially much longer shipping time (depending on region/availability, ofc)
      (EDIT* my unit DID come with LGA 1700 bracket, but many ppl said theirs didn't. The product page says it does in the title, but also says in the detail/description that you need to buy the bracket separately... lol)
      I'll update this after taking the new Thermaltake ToughLiquid 360 for a spin.

    • @drayquan23
      @drayquan23 Рік тому

      @@ydihtty Update #2
      The thermaltake Toughliquid 360 is disappointing.
      - The pump @ 60% and above emits an obnoxious buzzing sound (similar to how many have described the sound of the original/gen1 phanteks glacier one).
      ---
      - The fans [3x toughfan 12, 2000rpm] @ ~65% and up emit a very steady, piercing, high pitched tone (quite different than the lower toned, somewhat wavering resonance from FK120's and arctic's P12/P14 fans).

    • @ydihtty
      @ydihtty  Рік тому

      @@drayquan23 Hmm, I would think that you don't need to run the fans on a 360 very high at all, maybe never over 1200 RPM. But the pump noise seems like a pretty bad issue...

    Hi there thanks for the great video as always, I'm a big fan (pun intended!). Just wondering if you have any PSU recommendations in terms of low noise? There are a lot of youtubers reviewing fans but hardly any doing deepdive (noise-focused) reviews on power supplies.

    • @ydihtty
      @ydihtty  2 роки тому

      I can't give detailed recommendations on PSUs since I don't really have much experience with them. I think some review sites like tom's hardware give noise measurements in their reviews, but no noise samples to listen to. In general though I would go for PSUs which have known good fan designs though, like some new Corsairs, or Be Quiets, or Asus, but there are probably others that are good too. I feel like Silverstone and Seasonic tend to use pretty cheap fans but maybe they're not too bad.

      Arctic P12 has 5 blades. But in general, there are no better or worse blade counts, it just depends on the design.
      I have noticed that the deeper the blades go, the lower the blade count is. For example, the blades on this and the NF-A12x25 are pretty shallow, in this case because of some pretty thick stator vanes, and in the Noctuas case, for acoustic reasons. But the P12 and Sickleflow have deeper blades. This is all despite these fans having the same chassis thickness.
