My advice for people new to the fighting games genre: just pick whoever you think looks cool. Ignore tier lists (they dont matter for 99.9% of players anyway). Ignore 'beginner-friendly characters'. Just play whoever you like.

Now because of the audio indicators I will know exactly where the opponent is so will be able to play a more defensive game perhaps. I didnt expect to love playing Lily. She's the grappler I've always wanted. She got the gap closer, the good anti-air, the good pokes, and the command grab. Her hit confirms are good, and her mixups are alright.
I want to point out that ”getting in and staying in” is not classic Zangief, nor classic grappler. The vortex grappler is a relatively modern design (at least with regards to Gief). Classic SF2 Zangief (and really, all the way up until SFIV) was all about struggling to get in, dealing one massive chunk of damage from landing a command grab once you finally do get in, which bounced him almost full screen away from his enemy and has him start the work of getting in all over again. So if anything, SF6 Gief is a return to form, rather than something new. And his SPDs now do more damage than ever to reinforce this, meaning that his command grabs are more core to his kit than they’ve been in over a decade 💪
I think I'll try Manon in sf6 I like her moves. Also this is basically my first fighting game, as in I really wanna get into fighting games with this one
Remember to focus on improving, and not on winning. If you dont have fun while you lose youll never last long in fighting games. The secret is to enjoy your wins as the fruit of your work, and to use your losses as a way to analyze what you did wrong, so you can not fall for the same tricks from now on. The reason we love fighting games is because theres no other genre in the world that can compare to the feeling of winning an extremely close match that you were only able to pull off because you had to fight that playstyle over and over again. One of my best memories was losing again and again to this akuma i met online, everytime he popped in my ranked queue. On our first duel i really thought he was so above me i would never beat him. But every match i got a little closer, until after a bunch of matches against other players, i finally played him again, and won through the skin of my teeth. Youre the one leveling up, so make sure to always remember the whole point isnt to win, it is to experience the journey and effort it takes, so that victory is a thousand times sweeter.

Thanks so much! I'm using this to decide which characters to check out first. Currently I'm mainly thinking between JP and Jamie, both characters who seem capable of creating passive pressure in neutral - Jamie through using the threat of potions to force approaches and JP through using his rifts to cover options. I'll have to see which one feels better once I actually sit down and play for a while. I really wanted to play Kimberly based on her visual design but I don't think she would gel with me at all, I'll still give her a shot though.
I find I am an offensive heavy fighter. I like Shoto-fighters like Ken and Ryu, but also love Chun-Li and Juri. Lucky for me, all four of them are here. I also like Makoto, Ibuki, Guile, and Sakura.
I'll go in with Kimberly. Sf6 seems to have a fairly steep learning curve, so not burdening yourself with a whole bunch of characters at the start will definitely speed up the learning process. I'll probably add a secondary after s1 DLCs have dropped.
My top 5 characters to play off the bat are Cammy, Jamie, Deejay, Ken and Manon but the whole roster looks viable and fun. Can't wait to see what they do with Rashid, Akuma and A.K.I!!! Cammy and Ken being rush down orientated i'm likening a lot i always tend to be good with these two, the same with DeeJay he looks to have some great mix up potential and he's back with a fake out too lets gooooooooo as i mained him in 4 very excited he's returning. The newcomers tho, Manon is an interesting take on a grappler but the Savate/Ballet angle seems fun and she's Se Magnifique. Jamie with his drunken monkey/b-boy moveset need i say more he carries such style and fluidity and looks fun as hell defo playing him.
Cammy looks interesting gameplay-wise and damn did they make her hot as all hell. Ken's demo gameplay in the video was so fluent and interesting too and I always favored Ryu over Ken but he looks amazing in this game. DeeJay looks great in this game as well, the fakeouts look like it'll be fun to play him but might be a bit too hard for me. I usually steer far away from grapplers in SF because of their inputs but I consider playing Zangief simply because he looks too cool to skip, and with the modern control scheme maybe he becomes easy enough for me, we'll see. Jamie definitely looks amazing but I think he will have a steeper learning curve as you need to know which parts of kit you have access to with each drink level and also use the current level according to your current matchup, but he surely looks like a great fighter to watch. Even Blanka looks dope and that says something in my opinion.
@@TheMaDNiaC Yes I completely agree even the likes of Zangeif and Blanka characters I never play are looking very appealing SF6 has made everyone viable. Ken I've also kinda like a tad more than Ryu maybe due to the Fire aspect of his moveset but I'm really loving the look of him he takes the best of 5 and some of 4 the rushdown aspect shines through easily one of my most anticipated characters to get my hands on.
I wanna play Chun Li because her kicks and generally massive legs are really cool, but I heard she only works well in the Classic control scheme which I absolutely can't get down xD
@@gravekeepersven82 I'm a very defensive player, and I always thought big body grapplers fit me best. The main reason why is because they have a very simple and straightforward offense. Condition your opponents to either block or jump, and then exploit it. The main struggle of a grappler is getting in, hence why I play them. I feel like someone with a strong defense game but not very good offense gets rewarded heavily by playing grapplers
From the descriptions and design, I like Manon, Kimberly, Cammy, and Lily. They seem to fit my playstyle. I generally know the types of characters I like, but it can change depending on the fighting game
I was a character specialist in sf iv ( el fuerte with a couple more secondaries in the end) . The one regret I have is not picking up more characters initially to learn the game with. And that includes overused/too tier characters because that immediately gets you familiar with the current meta, and gives you stable counter pick options too. By the end of the game I was a top Fuerte player, but not a top sf iv player if that makes sense. So my advice for new players - pick a character that you love or are just drawn to (eg playstyle, look, but also learn one or two characters to best learn the game engine with (Ryu, Luke in 6 def come to mind)
As a street fighter newbie, the open beta showed me how bad i was, im gonna pick whoever who i like and enjoy. Gonna avoid metas as im a noob and no point.
I'm bad at fighting games. I loved USF4 and played it against AI for a bit. Played MK11 with my brother quite a bit and a little bit online. Played SF5 a little against my brother and online. Out of all these, I didn't like SF5 much, it didn't have the same feel or spirit as USF4 to me. I sucked at both of them nonetheless. SF6 on the other hand seems to have a lot of spirit and a great art style. Even the fighters which I probably won't play much due to their playstyle or difficulty of their inputs seem like great picks because they all look so cool. I think I will only skip Marisa, Lily & JP probably, but the rest of them look dope. I will probably still play Ryu for a while because he is the cornerstone of the game and I think understanding him is a good starting point. But even Zangief looks to be very very fun and I usually steer far far away from grapplers normally. Chun-Li looking dope but I think she might be too hard. From the new characters, Jamie looks great but I think he might have a steep learning curve as well. I haven't had any of the SF5 DLCs so even though he was in SF5, I never played Luke or have seen anyone playing him online, but he looks like a very interesting pick. Not a massive MMA follower but I appreciate its inclusion as an enjoyer of the sport.
As a long time Juri main Cammy is my only flex this game unless Kimberly is like Ibuki, and Lily is actually a good grappler. Actually now that I’m thinking about it maybe I’ll switch it up this game and play Juri and Manon since she looks so graceful and stylish. Almost forgot about her.
I'll probably stick to my favorite 3: Chun-li Ken, and Juri(from SF4 as I never played SFV). I don't think Chun-li will be that hard to master, her stance is just some extra sprinkles on top. Dee-Jay and Lilly do look interesting though. I think my three faves will be both offensive and defensive. Actually, thanks to the drive system, I think we'll have an SF4 style where no one will play one character the same except for Jamie and Kimberly.
Just got through the video. Amazing effort and results! This will be the first Street Fighter were I find my rhythm, so I'll probably start out with Ryu and go from there.
They went so hard on grapplers with this initial roster, feels like sf6 will focus a lot more on them. I've managed to get my list down to 4 characters, either jamie, cammy, juri or luke, but a lot of other are also interesting.
@@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeam might be a good thing for grappler players, but the majority of the playerbase doesn't like when grapplers are too good and I don't see them going against the wishes of most of the community for very long.
@@xaviervega468 hey we'll see, they usually end up in mid to low tier as time goes on until now. I think they should have a fair shot like every other archetypes, but a large portion of the community hates grapplers, we'll have to wait and see if the pattern repeat itself or not.
@@MrOrzeker I'm especially expecting Manon to be the designated "go vent online every time she beats you" character for a few weeks. I think it'll take people a while to understand how to deal with her.
I was big into sf4 on Xbox (still pissed I had to miss sf5). Top 100 with Hugo, so, while not quite the same, I'm probably gonna main Marisa. She seems the closest and I quite like the impacts she has. Kinda bummed no sagat though.
I'll definately go for Malon. As a proud Judoka who had to adapt my moves to match my tall height, Malon represents the one side of Judo that nobody sees in media. Plus, she is a french ballet dancer. It's a pretty unique combo. Probably i'll second either ChunLi or Lily.
Fun overview & solid info on each. Always interesting to choose mains & subs in games. And whether to settle on familiar or new ones. I'll try everyone in arcade, etc., then decide. Most interested in Honda, Guile, & Jaime, I think. 🙂
Play who you want. I've played Street Fighter and various fighting games for years and while the "easy to learn" characters can help you get started, it can leave a bad impression if you don't have fun during the learning process. Play whoever looks fun and if you're not sure, just try the coolest looking character and give it a shot. Having fun is infinitely more important than just learning to play for beginners since you'll be more inclined to learn if you really enjoy a character.
I'll be trying em all out this time, but I already know I will most likely be sticking with Gief. When there's no Akuma and no Poison, I default to grapplers like Gief or Alex. Been that way since SF2.
For me I often pick honest all rounder characters like Ryu & Ken before and as much I still do till this day I'm trying other characters with different various playstyles. Of course the 1 other all-around character main that I'm now playing since SF5 is Luke but others that I'm also gonna main are Juri who is a really great footsies character and Dee Jay who has a new playstyle that I'm really intrigued into trying out.

@@limmel3588 I’d bet green money on it. 😉
I'll go in with Kimberly. Sf6 seems to have a fairly steep learning curve, so not burdening yourself with a whole bunch of characters at the start will definitely speed up the learning process. I'll probably add a secondary after s1 DLCs have dropped.
I will probably Try Dee Jay Blanka Zangief and Marissa. This is going to be THE BEST SF since OG SF 4.
Boy, that perfect sync with the music at 14:59
EventHubs on the come up with the fgc stuff! Love to see it. Excellent and informative video.
More to come!
JP looks so cool. Easily the most interesting of the brand new characters IMO
Gandalf Lord of the Rings google it
I wanna play Chun Li because her kicks and generally massive legs are really cool, but I heard she only works well in the Classic control scheme which I absolutely can't get down xD
Definitely planning on maining Manon, Jamie, and Kimberly! Cammy, Juri, and Dhalsim might be my subs
Patient defensive grapplers are my bag. I am definitely mostly looking at Zangief
They gave Zangief alot of aggressive tools to catch people slipping.
I always heard Guile's iconic theme and never knew where it came from, until yesterday. Now i'm the worst Guile in history.
Marrisa, Ryu, Juri.
Those 3 alone will keep me busy all summer.
I thought street fighter gameplay was boring until this video
My advice to everyone starting out is pick Juri, main Juri and be one with Juri 🗿
I mained El Fuerte in SF4. I loved how quirky and fast he was. I mean how can you say no to an anti-air grab?!
I played Sim in 5. Ima start with Sim in 6. My boy looking real yoga fire right now 🤣
As a street fighter newbie, the open beta showed me how bad i was, im gonna pick whoever who i like and enjoy.
Keep up the good work!
Didn't like SFV Juri either, eh? I gave her a few days to about a week and from there passed on that version.
The way it looks like Luke is hiding behind Ryu in the thumbnail 😂😂
Just got through the video.
Amazing effort and results!
This will be the first Street Fighter were I find my rhythm, so I'll probably start out with Ryu and go from there.
@@UltimateBallaPOM same!
LOLOLOL check out the 'most replayed' part of the video!
I generally just pick the guy with the biggest muscles as long as there not too goofy and they generally play somewhat similar
Usually a Cammy main, but I may switch to either Jamie or Manon this time.
They went so hard on grapplers with this initial roster, feels like sf6 will focus a lot more on them.
I've managed to get my list down to 4 characters, either jamie, cammy, juri or luke, but a lot of other are also interesting.
Also, command grabs do INSANE damage. Too early to tell, maybe it's a good change since typically grapplers fight an uphill battle and this helps.
@@SharkWithFreakinLaserBeam might be a good thing for grappler players, but the majority of the playerbase doesn't like when grapplers are too good and I don't see them going against the wishes of most of the community for very long.
@@MrOrzeker They need to suck it up. Command grabs from larger grapplers doing pissy damage is bullshit.
I main muscle and shoto chars like Zangief, Ryu, Luke, Guile, Ken 💪.
Can’t wait to jump back into the competition! I’ve been out since SF5 came out. So many cool features and characters! Let’s go!!!! 🤜🤛
Jamie is the one I'm going for.
I like his design, and like drink system.
After 4 drinks he's so threatning
I was big into sf4 on Xbox (still pissed I had to miss sf5). Top 100 with Hugo, so, while not quite the same, I'm probably gonna main Marisa. She seems the closest and I quite like the impacts she has. Kinda bummed no sagat though.
Yeah, no Sagat is a big disappointment. No Urien, Birdie either...my secondary mains. Duh...
I've mained Ken in every sf game, so it has to be Ken for me.
Marisa is most likely to be my main, I like armoured beat down. I'll probably try Zangief and Lily too.
If the PS4 version drops another next month, I can't wait to get Street Fighter 6 to buy for it!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can’t believe Street Fighter has gone away from 6 button layout 😢 this will take some time getting used to.
You can 100% play with the Classic 6 button layout. You just have the option not to if you want to go with Modern Controls.
Thank goodness thanks for the information bud.
That's cool that you connect with her like that
I saw at least 6 that I wanna try. Gonna try em all but one of those six will end up being my main. Great video
100% gonna main Jamie, his playstyle looks so fun and his drunken taunts are so funny
1:10 Ryu "balanced", because each other character has its own feature, Ryu (and Ken) can easily resist everyone ;)
Thanks for the video! I’m interested in Manon because she seems really unique
I'm definitely maining Marisa and later I'll pick up Cammy, Kimberly and maybe Ken
Excellent work, John!
Jamie reminds me of mkx boriacho, I’ll definitely try
Got to make those FGC tears flow with those first month grappler beat downs.
Manon is 100% the designated "vent every time she beats you" character for the first few weeks.
Jamie looks so fun with his drunken fist style that i think is also based on capoeira looks so fun
My favorite archetype is rushdown so I think it’s offense for me! Cammy, Jamie and Ryu are characters for me(until Poison joins)
poison ismt rushdown
@@supervialentrandomaudio1007 I know but she is my favorite! I liked her as a kid so she became my main
The good thing IS... we get a rank for every single hero, so you can try a few without loosing rank:)
Definitely JP for me. I love this type of characters, just fill the screen with crap and take advantage of the opponents mistakes.
Hey this video is pretty neat.
I'll be trying em all out this time, but I already know I will most likely be sticking with Gief. When there's no Akuma and no Poison, I default to grapplers like Gief or Alex. Been that way since SF2.
Most likely Chun Li but I'm definitely gonna try other characters
Akuma, Ryu, Ken, Cammy and Chun Li. Those are my favorites in order.
Jamie, Marisa, Ken, Zangief, and Kimberly day one for me.
I'm going straight to main Jamie, Juri, Ken and Kimberly
Thanks for the great info, now I wanna test everyone!
I just watched the entire video knowing that I've been a Jamie main since announcement. Loved learning about the characters though!
I usualy pick who is the most fun for me. Its lead to a varying number of mains i never thought id play
First Street Fighter game I’ll really be delving in you, but I can already say with the utmost confidence; Ken main for life!
I might pick up aki. But i just want to one trick ibuki hopefully some time in 2024
Blanka is a lot of fun in 6, I’ve played him almost exclusively since 4 and, IMO he’s never felt better
So Ken and Luke are honest? Foh
I don't think ken is ever an all rounder but dee jay and ryu both seem like a good fit for you.
@@scuppo I mean there shotos so they're easy to pick up and learn is what I meant!
JP looks like he's gonna be pretty OP at launch.
Can't wait for this game. Kimberly, Manon, Jamie and Cammy are who I'm planning to dabble with on my first few days. We'll see who ends up sticking :)
So..
If you don’t know how to play: Ryu
Have zero patience: Ken
Have patience for days: sumo
I don't even play street fighter (yet) and I love these videos, awesome job guys A+
Juri matches my playstyle the most but I'm very much not into the whole foot-fetish thing. I dunno, maybe after playing her I'll get over it.
