Stuff like this is why I loved working in a shop that builds Honda’s. They’re so simple and pretty much everything from factory is better than the aftermarket so even if you don’t know much about building cars. If you got someone with that much experience just watching them and asking questions, occasionally getting hands on. Before you know it you’re pretty comfortable to do a lot of the work on your own. Also just having that knowledge handed to you from one of the og’s you can help others put together their builds based off what you learned.
Yea and I haven’t watched the video to see if smurf is totaled or not but he could swap in the coyote from it into the foxbody or whatever one he would get
Congrats David! I owned several Hondas back in the day and it was always my dream to K swap them. I ended up going German (lol) so it never happened. Now I want a K swapped Honda again haha. Keep it coming man!
I never knew there were so many electronics, and monitoring functions on the K engine, holy smokes! Very informative and interesting video, keep up the awesome work David!
Can't wait for the next part(s) in this series! This is the first K-swap I've seen using a JDM K20A with the red Honda valve cover (other people might have done it, but I haven't seen it lol). So cool! All the other ones that I've seen are either K20 or K24 from a USDM Acura RSX (20) or TSX (24). Also I love the detail that David (HR David, not TDIB David, lol) goes into with this process. He's like a human Honda encyclopedia lol. Learning something new every video. Keep up the great work! :)
Great to see an investment in a Honda, apart from Honda specific youtubers, most of them disregard Hondas, for boosted, rwd/4wd platforms. Having owned a dc2 98 spec JDM type r, and a lot of various ek civics, they don't get the credit they deserve. The reliability and how easy they are to work on really makes them the ideal entry to car modifying 😎 You dont need huge bhp to have fun on some b roads, just a well set up fwd Honda 😁
I have started to build interest in diy builds of cars and bike because of you and another guy called The illustrator. Thanks to both of you. By the way i am not old enough to buy a car or a bike.😂
You know if you really want to know the full parts list, where to get the parts and general pricing of everything as well as tips and tricks with the swap, as well as engine and transmission and wiring guides there is everything on Vtecacademy.com
Stupid ignition coil connectors. What was supposed to be a spark plugs change on my 2001 GS300 became a nightmare cause every connector kept breaking. Mad annoying

I did this 10 years ago on my 97 Del Sol. : Google K20a del sol! That's me ^__^! You'll love it David, it burns oil, and that's okay. just watch and change your oil religiously! I cant even begin to describe the abuse i've given this motor, and it hasn't had an issue in the 10 years of ownership.
how do you handle the lack of a 98 octane petrol in usa (with this jp spec engine) or do u intend to use ethanol?, or just run it at less than optimum power on 91
loctite on the flywheel bolts is a debated issue, the factory service manual doesn't tell you to put any, and some clutch manufacturers dont recommend it either. Proper torque method is key
@@ripperhigh8001 they also don't recommend you going to 9000+ rpm but that's what's going happen and unless that motor is built and had been harmonically balanced (which it hasn't) the thing can shake with can cause everything to get lose. Loctite doesn't hurt and save you a lot of time a worry.
Israel Cardona I’ve done probably 100 clutch jobs on these engines and have never used any thread lock on flywheel bolts. Honda does not call for it, we don’t use it. No issues.
Can you just tell me your experience for buying a motor over seas? Were you worried about... if the miles were legit, If its going to run, etc.... and point me in the direction of where you bought it from
Thanks so much for all the support these recent videos! It means so much to me.
2019 is our year boys.
Have you ever swapped a car?
This is the best oldspice ad I've ever seen.
My eg has a k20a
No I didn't, cause I don't have one :(
Me and my dad engine swapped our 67' Volkswagen bug from a single carb 1500cc to a duel carb 1800cc
I spend so much money but I was worth it and David if you wondering I make 305HP that ITB life....
Really appreciate the detail and breakdown of the K20A, You don't see this much info in other swap vids.
watch Boosted boiz
That guy needs his own channel. He's pretty damn good👍👍
Love how your explaining everything going into the build and telling us what we'll need for it! So much less research to do

Great video David. I love this kind of content on your channel. Your integra is gonna be awesome when its done. I also hope smurf is doing good
So excited to see this car done!
Since you guys replaced the flywheel why not go ahead and replace the rear main seal?
Man, Teggy is really coming together man! Congrats!👌🇯🇵

So pumped for this build
Very informative.... Keep doing more videos like this bro.
I wish Cleetus would do an engine break down like this with their engines and explain how everything works
Thank you for this. Been wanting to do a k swap!
thank you for teaching us the ways of the VTECCC!
No one:
James from Donut Media: BAAAAAAAAAA
I would love to do this same build, and do it all legit like you are keeping PS and AC.
He was like what's all this engine oil doing on the exhaust manifold gasket
thanks for the inspiration!

Ehhh no locktite on flywheel bolt ?! ... love the build im stocked to see the finish product 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Can you please do a detailed video of the wiring please. I want to eventually do a k swap but I still have trouble understanding the wiring.

I have an all original unmolested 99 integra gsr 4door which i am reluctantly to put a k series in. Rather rebuild the B18C1.
30minforasn I feel the same way with my em1, It still has a healthy factory block and head but part of me wants to k swap it
14:34 Don't forget to grease your shaft before inserting it!
Love motor builds hopefully we get to see some 240 sx rebuild too
Loving this build man keep it up im not to sure on the colour though i think a red or lighter blue would of been better but thats just my opinion man
I would have recommended replacing the rear main seal and the front seal.
I said the same thing to my self
That guy is a genius.
You will need a different cluster. That LS cluster ends before the engine redlines.
