Yes it was a strong hive, stronger than what I seen in past years. Never had that many bees in the bottom box before.

I checked the capped cells today and there’s some burr comb. From what I’ve read, I still have viable queen cells and just have to carefully trim.

Thanks Charlie! I feel a little more confident about doing this with my bees. I was just unsure what to do if I found brood in the lowest box, Hopefully the weather will be kind and I will get this done next week! Like your new starting song too!

I would have been tempted to throw another 3rd honey super on there to give them room for all the hatching brood. Good luck in keeping that box from swarming. LOL
