Brother Adam designed a feeder that was 2 inches in height, he found that this was the optimal height for a feeder, any higher and it became too cold to take feed down.

As a single brood, means 1 deep and no super of extra honey for winter? I use mediums and usually have 2-3 boxes with brood plus a full super of capped food. I've been able to get down to 3 boxes but that's as far as I can get. Can't wait to get my last 2 verticals into long langs but won't get them made in time for wintering this year unless I can build before Oct 1st.

I pulled honey all day and started feeding all my single colonies which is all of them. There is pollen and nectar coming in at the moment and they all have some stores in the deep. Good luck with your bees and thanks for the videos the last 2 years. I have learned a lot.

How much should a single brood deep 10 frame hive weigh going into winter? This was my first year at single brood management. You are correct. there are no food stores going into early fall.

Peter it's interesting how many hives actually have 2 queen?
And thanks for the Formic Pro video. Cheap for me, $6 a hive. As opposed to the cost of losing the hive.

Why do you feed during a honey flow?

I assume because it is September, and in Maine the nice weather switches off in a day or two due to frost. There has to be enough time to cure the feed in the bottom box before cold weather.
