I am african and I can say that this man had a lot of regrets... but the love you showed to ihm is just amazing.

Most of us in Africa go through. That with our daddy but as we grow up you tend to learn to forgive and forget.
I can imagine how difficult it must be for you, your father, mother and your brothers. Your father still had the cultural and religious aspects of his Nigerian background to deal with. He may have genuinely wanted to join your mother and his children but no one knows the pressures he was under. Those years were not easy especially for those in the Northern part of Nigeria. I hope you and your family visit your father in Nigeria sometimes in the future and share the recordings with us. I believe he will be happy to receive you. Cheers

I am glad you made an effort to reuniting you family and siblings with your father. And I want you to understand your father got into trouble with his parents by getting married to your mother. He must have had to compromise for your mother to be accepted into his family; maybe by adhering strictly to culture. And I think your mother never knew. The biggest challenge must have been trying to please his parents, your mum and you; his children. In the end he lost you and your mum. I can understand life was complicated for you, your mum, and siblings. But he buried his complicated feelings in his heart. He will forever be grateful to you.

Some of our fathers have made mistakes in the past and it was great that he had a chance to spend time with you and your family. Unfortunately I did not get that chance until I was contacted that he had died. Cherish this moment and not dwell on the past( easier said than done though). I just found your channel and I believe the caption about " My Nigerian father and 30 years" got my attention. I watched everything and don't blame your mum for moving with her kids when she did. I lived in kaduna for 9 years when i came from the east for my NYSC and I understand how undiluted the culture is. Your Dad knew that, but her love for your mum made him to do what most northern folks will not do which is marry outside their tribe, culture and religion. I salute your courage in trying to keep the family together irrespective of what happened in the past. Keep on trying, a lot of water has gone under the bridge and hey that is the only Dad you have. You really impressed me and I wish all first daughters will be like you.

@@gardensteps not true. Northern men love to marry outside the north more than the 2 other major tribes(Yoruba & Igbo), the issue with them is they will not compromise in allowing the woman practice her faith if she is not muslim, which is were they are different from Yoruba Muslims.

Hello Habiba. I am a new subscriber to your channel. First of all, you have a good spirit. You did the right thing but your other brother has missed a great chance of having a time with his father. I am a Nigerian from the southern part of Nigeria.
Thank you for sharing your story. It is almost difficult not to cry because it is an emotional story. Your father should be in his mid 70's or late 70's by now. And he did well to come to see you guys.You know the reason, he wants a closure, a time WITH HIS CHILDREN!!!. And that was why I said your brother missed cos you don't know when and if he would be able to visit again. Not in any position to advise you but I really pray you keep reaching out to him. He still obviously cares about your mum and I wished your mother had the same reciprocal feeling. She is over him and understandably. I also pray he will do same by reaching out to you people.

You are an amazing woman opening your heart and your home to a father you haven't seen in 30 years. However, as Nigerian too, I believe it was tough for men of your father's generation who got something going for them to leave the life they know behind and move. He might not have the words to express his apology but he looked remorseful. As you said, nobody knows how much time they have left but you may through your message teach total forgiveness to many. Nobody has the power to change the past but we can influence what we do with the future.
I’ve been binging on your videos especially these vlogs with your dad. I literally tears up when your bro opened the car and your Mom was there. I adore your dad. Remember she went through a lot , and any mother would have done the same to get her children out the strict religious and cultural environment of northern Nigeria and also yr dad did his best at that time you can’t fault him too much , the family, religion and cultural pressure what’s too much on him , that result in what happened !!!! I teared up a bit about your story and reminisce about my own relationship with my soon to be ex wife and I hope in future we can both still sit together in the same space and be cordial with one another whilst we enjoy our children and grandchildren together as one big family. You all did very well, kudos to your Mum, with what seems to be a very difficult experience seeing the husband she once loved, I felt she did the best she could under the circumstance. Your Dad, did extremely well too, coping as a elderly Man in his situation should, he obviously have a lot of affection for your Mum and did his best to apologize for his part in the marital break up with your Mum. Let no one judge him or any of the family members' behavior in this videos. I wish everyone involved in what to date is the best and most useful Vblog on family relationship and redemption process , I've watched on UA-cam, a lot of love and peace of mind in the knowledge they all did their best in this reunion story. Kenton especially and the grand children are the Stars of this beautiful Vblog.
