Of course, Islay is full of amazing distilleries, but Kilchoman is numero uno to me. Never had a bad dram from them. And you will be happy to know, Daniel, that recent Madeira casks are phenomenal!
Bought the last cognac matured bottle here in sweden. Along with the px matured and the fino sherry one. I love kilchoman. To bad its so expensive here in Sweden. Glad you reviewed it and had a chance to try it out.
That "allo" moment cracked me up. Good review and an interesting whisky. I didn't realise this, and the Fino are 50% ABV. I have the Casado which is 46%. Cheers!
Tried this for the first time last night and I agree; it’s an unusual one but very well-made and enjoyable. I tried the pX-matured release as well, which is also excellent, though less oddball than this one. Anthony Wills has been focusing more on the “experimental” cask maturation so I think we can expect more releases like this from Kilchoman.
Snagging this up if I see it in the states for sure. I saw it at an auction but didn't want to pay the shipping. Great review! Kilchoman is one of my favorites
Great review Geoff! I might have to search out a bottle of this. I absolutely love the 2023 Fino Matured release. It herbal and the most coastal Kilchoman I’ve had.
I’ve just ordered a bottle of Talisker Parley based off of the strength of your recommendation. Can’t recall trying a brandy matured whisky before so you’ve inspired me. I’ve always liked Talisker so no reason to believe I won’t enjoy it…🤞
@@Gwhisky I’ve just tried a neck pour and have enjoyed. A mix between highland and island style for me. The nose has that sweet tropical highland note, but on the palate, whilst the tropical highland sweetness comes through, there’s also that saltiness and black pepper spice you get with an island malt. My first impression is that I’m intrigued and want to spend more time exploring it, but pleased with the purchase. Thanks for the recommendation. 👍🙂🥃
Yep , full time maturation rocks, forget the wimsy cask finishes. Better to let the stuff rest and then maby Vat some casks later on. Generaly Kilchoman botlings tend to get better each year. I got a Loch Gorm opened on the shelf [2024 edition ] and if you are into peat and full time sherry maturation you dont have to look further. Their cognac expression is on my wish list now. Thanks for an always onest, funny, informing and cosy rewiev.
Alright. I will definitely add this to "The list" haha I can really see how much you love this Buddy! Great find and really cool review my friend! Cheers 🥃🥃😎
I definitely want to track down this Kilchomen expression! Wow! I think I’d find this delicious and very interesting! Friends have said it’s complex! That’s what I prefer! Awesome video as always Geoff! I’m in Alberta for a week so I will be hitting the Costco to see if I can score some terrific scotch at AB Costco prices!! I also want to try the Kirkland Islay Peated scotch!! Cheers Geoff!!
This sounds interesting, unfortunately it's not available here anymore. I opted instead for the Fino sherry 2023, which I love and absolutely recommend if you can get it. Good stuff as always, Geoff!🥃
Wad up, Boss G ! Video =10/10 ----------------- Kilcho = 6/10 (I hate it now for never having core AGE bottlings ------- Yr French = priceless ! HUH ? Quoi ?
Thanks for reviewing this indeed interesting whisky, Geoff. Too interesting for me, so it appeared after tasting it. I can judge it to be good whisky, but for me it has some off notes / dissonantes. Might be the grapes again. That being said, I value this way better than the mentioned Sanaig. Slàinte mhath
Hi Geoff I’m torn. Would you recommend this Cognac finish or the Madera finish? The Madera is more pricy. I see only one in my area but there a few more of the Cognac, which probably won’t last long. Thoughts? J 🇨🇦 (Edmonton)
Hi Geoff, I had to double-check that my playback speed wasn't somehow "elevated". I understand you're trying to not make overlong vids. In nz the price for this whisky ranges ~ukp73-84.
What cask was used for the maturation? You need to include more detail when you are describing the whisky in your videos. Maybe put something in the title to give us a hint.
Love my Loch Lomond 14 year old Glengarry matured in first fill cognac hogsheads!
185 cad in Quebec, gonna have to look for this during my trip to Taipei next month lol
Vive le Québec!
Haha bring an extra luggage. You'll be buying a lot of whisky here. Enjoy the trip! 😉🥃
I also got the Tequila note with the Talisker x Parley. Guess thats a note we get from Cognac barrels?

Great reviews and you are very funny😊! Kilchoman, my favorite Islay whisky. My bottle is still closed.
I had picked this one up many times but always put it back. Your review pushed me over the edge. I’ll let you know how it is!

Hi Geoff, great review.
Cannot agree more with you. This is a great one.
Seeing your bottle you need to go for a backup very soon....
I already got my backup! Appreciate you convincing me to grab it. One of my favourite recent discoveries! 🥃

Thanks Kevin. Yeah I'd like to try the Fino as well. I hear good things, and I'm always a sucker for some coastal flavours. Cheers! 🥃
Haven’t seen this one yet, but just picked up a Sauternes single cask that is quite good.

Great review Geoff. Sounds like a cracking dram! I definitely need more Kilchoman in my collection! $190AUD in my Australia. Hmmm, might be worth it.
Those Australian prices, man. Ouch! 🥃
Wow! Now I got a get a bottle. Thanks Geoff!
Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy it! 🥃

Been waiting for this a long time, happy you could get your hands on it! Got it last year June for my birthday, what a great whisky.
Sounds fabulous! Complex?! I have to find a bottle!! Peat head here!! Big time!! Love the ashy farmy distillate!!
Kilchoman just seems to have it figured out. Great breakdown of what sounds like an unusual one. I'll be on the lookout for it ... Cheers!

Have u tried the Madeira cask already? Beautiful one as well.
Not yet. It's on my to-do list though! 🥃

you tried Madeira Kilchoman? I would love to try that one

I've found there is a relation to the color of the label to the taste of the whisky. For Kilchoman expressions.
I've never thought about it, but yeah... 🥃
