- WIGHT CHRISTMAS! Legacy Wight of the Reliquary Dark Depths midrange MTG
I play a Magic: the Gathering Online Legacy League with a Golgari midrange deck. This deck is leveraging Wight of the Reliquary to access a tutorbox of lands to control the game and produce powerful win conditions. The Deck name comes from it being a Wight of the Reliquary deck using a Snow Land in Dark Depths as a central win condition.

Just started watching but am already wondering how long will it take before he realizes Wight has vigilance lol
Same lol
Don't worry, we get there ;)
I came here to say the exact same thing 😂
LOL been yelling at the tv for 3 minutes already, build a deck around a card and don't read it... it's not even one of those sneaky abilities at the bottom of the card...
in m1g1 why weren't you attacking with wight? It has vigilance
Depths-cember came early!
Jeez. Toxic side of UA-cam sure showed up for this one. Lot of nasty comments.
Anyway, thanks for the vid! Love seeing new cards in an old archetype. Any thoughts on Talon Gates of Madara as a similar but different Sejiri Steppe? I’ll need to think on the format quite a bit to determine which is better. Maybe even one of each? One main, one side? Sheoldred’s Edict is seeing a lot less play these days, so phasing out might not be as relevant as protection from a color.
People on the internet are gonna internet. Far better players than me make mistakes in videos too, it happens when you record dozens of rouds a week.
As for Talons, I think it's pretty useful in lists that are less all in on Marit Lage, the Steppe is better for attacking with Marit Lage in one turn, but if you are protecting knight of the reliquary in white decks etc, it feels a lot better. If I had room I'd consider it but the list was pretty tight. I've seen people using it with Uro, who puts it in then phases them out to cheat into play which is very sweet.
I could be wrong, but if you use Shifting Woodland to become a Grist in your yard wouldn't it die as a state based action because of these rules?
306.5b A planeswalker has the intrinsic ability “This permanent enters the battlefield with a number of loyalty counters on it equal to its printed loyalty number.” This ability creates a replacement effect (see rule 614.1c).
306.9. If a planeswalker’s loyalty is 0, it’s put into its owner’s graveyard. (This is a state-based action. See rule 704.)
Since Shifting Woodland didn't enter the battlefield as a planeswalker, but rather transformed into one after it had already entered the battlefield as a land I have to assume that it wouldn't receive any loyalty counters and therefore would go straight to the graveyard.
Yeah, you are right
hey, in match two u surveiled the Boseiju, Who Endures. Wouldnt it be a good answer to karakas?
It would be, but I don't think the match up vs UW with this deck is ideally about Marit Lage, they have white removal and stuff so I'd rather try to dig towards other aggressive plans instead of the all in Marit Lage. Putting it in the GY for later means it can be Loamed up if the gameplan changes later, but I'd rather be doing midrange beats across multiple bodies in the matchup. Also, we have wastelands and ways to dig them up if we really need to remove the karakas later on.
I would be very interested to see a version that uses Green Sun's Zenith. I would trim: 1 Loam, 1 Grist, 2 Bloodghast for 4 GSZ. Also, might want to add 1 Invasion of Ikoria and just cut to 1 Vampire Hexmage. 1 Witherbloom Command seems possible as well. I know the meta is sort of wide open, but just 4 different cards in the Sideboard seems limiting.
Wouldn't OUAT be a good addition to the deck? Maybe you could trim the fotd, a grist and a hexmage for 3.
I do love how consistent OUAT makes a deck. I always miss it when I play decks without it. Even brainstorm feels clunky sometimes. At least, until you get something you don't need stuck in hand.
I'd also recommend a Talon Gates of Madara with Wight too. Protects your monsters and does an amazing job of removing a blocker while pumping wight out of nowhere. People still aren't used to the play yet, and it's been winning me a lot of games with Cradle Control. :-)
Shifting Woodlands can be tapped for green to pay for it's ability
Not that you'd play these 2 cards in the same deck, but could you imagine discarding an Emrakul and with it's truggered ability on the stack copy it with Shifting Woodland to swing with a 15/15 flying, annihilator 6, protection from colored spells land? Lol
Am i crazy or this deck could actually make very
good use of agatha soul cauldron?
Maybe, but I think in order to make it consistent enough to matter you'd want to be running both Goblin Welder and Goblin Engineer and at that point you might as well be playing Painter. Plus this manabase can't support a 3rd color since it's trying to cast double pip spells in BB and GB especially when it has lands like Stage and Depths that don't tap for colored mana.
@@BigChimpEnergy Why do you think so? you have plenty of activated ability to make use of the cauldron already
@@Jh0nnyM I'm talking about being able to tutor for it, because Depths doesn't have card draw and it's not like it's a land so Wight can't search for it. The deck has 18 cards that it can tutor with and none of them can find a 2 CMC artifact.
Jezuz I'm 8 mins in and you've missed several attacks with your vigilance creature and you've called out copying a planeswalker with your land... which would just die because it has no loyalty. Why do you make videos if you can't read and don't know how cards work?
And now I'm around 24-25 in and you're talking about wanting an answer for karakas.... after you just threw away the boseiju that could have killed it... you suck so bad 😂
