I'm not reminded of footage of Bavarian women lining BMW tanks by hand (mesmerizingly skillful), but a great result, very smart. Merry Christmas from across the watery fen in Ely.
Excellent film as always, I admire anyone who can apply paint and create something that looks so good. Mine resembles a Jackson Pollock reject. Elgar in the background a pleasing distraction.
YT are hot on copyright issues piearm. They jumped immediately at the sound of Annie Lennox on a previous video but classical music seems to pass by the censors. I'm not generally keen on gratuitous background 'choons' but sometimes forget to switch off when the camera is running. Perhaps not everyone appreciates Elgar. Thanks to you and all supporters of the channel in '24. More to come in the new year with a night-ride on January 1st.
It's easier to get a consistent curve by resting your hand inside it, former signwriter. A dop stick is also handy, bit of dowel with a padded ball of cloth at the end you rest your brush hand on, it raises your hand slightly allowing finer control.
yup this is what I do , but I put a drop of dishwashing liquid in the water used for flatting down and you are a braver man than me with that lining brush ,, well done that man!
Use modern thin (3mm) lining tape to obtain the panel shape as this will easily do the curves, then mask outside that. You will be very lucky if the paint doesn't start blistering and coming off around the filler neck, unless you've used two pack for the primers and the red petrol will get under the two pack lacquer and react with the base coats.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Chris. I realise that whatever I undertake in the workshop there will be viewers with greater expertise in the field. Petrol always seems to spoil tank finish in the end but not filling up seems a poor alternative!
I always love your videos, but origami wet & dry paper takes the prize for the most useful thing I have ever learned from utube 😁. Wonderful. I hope you both have a wonderful Christmas and new years. Stay safe and well. Greeting from an Aussie subscriber.🦘🇦🇺🎅🎄 PS bonus points for hand lining, that’s real skill that my shaky hand wouldn’t even attempt. The tanks looks wonderful .
Nagyon ügyes vagy, hogy minden munkát magad végzel, és minden jól sikerül. Gratulálok! Már máskor is írtam, de nem reagáltál. A motoros rendezvényeken , amiken részt szoktál venni, sok más szép antik Brit motorkerékpár is látható. (from Hungary)
Greetings to you in Hungary and apologies for not replying before @hdevo80. Thank you for your interest in the channel. Though I ride and enjoy many different motorcycles this is primarily a Panther channel, so that is bound to be our focus. I'm sure you will be able to find UA-cam channels which feature the motorcycles of other makers.
Applaud your appriach. Well done and Merry Christmas.
That was well above my pay grade. Well done!
Very nice and the right colour for Santa's sleigh.
An absolutely beautiful result. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Thanks for that @cedley. A new term learnt. I will add a dop stick to my armoury before I tackle the number plate.

Nice job indeed 😊
The ghosts of Cleckheaton past would be proud. Just needs a few chips and scrapes from jacket zips for a life lived patina.
That's the plan!

Narrow tape bends better!
Could I come and live next door please?
Might be a spare stall, I'll have a word with the horses David.
