- Within These Castle Walls (aka. Dracula's Castle Theme) enhanced and remade from Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
Day 2, Castlevania 2: I know a lot of people bitch about Simon’s Quest, particularly how you finally get to Dracula’s Castle after running around towns reading Engrish and pissing holy water everywhere and then WHOOPS, the place is empty. But really, I always felt they weren’t trying to have a big final level and were instead focusing on the atmosphere of returning to the abandoned, ruined castle from the first game. It’s supposed to be deserted to make it foreboding, eerie, spooktacular, etc. but the technology wasn’t there to do it justice. So creating that scene was the point of dis here remake. All that being said, Dracula still looks like a World War I pilot and the battle sucks bum.

@@tinytrashcan2840 No no, I think it is perfect the way it sounds. It makes me imagine I'm in a ruined castle, left apart, where in the old times it used to be incredible.

LOVED. IT! The wind blowing, the organ that sounds a bit distant. It definitively captures the feeling I got when I first arrived to the Castle (circa 89's more or less). :D

So this so epic! With the the organ playing winds howling as there is no turning back, for Simon faces his destiny, to battle Count Dracula. A battle on which one will emerge the victor, after a fierce fight, a epic battle, Simon is victorious of Dracula, for now freeing Transylvania and the world, from the Shadow that the vampire count casts, until Simon or another Belmont is called to battle Dracula once more.

very nice! The addition of the wind blowing in the back round was a nice touch. This isn't a criticism but I always wonder why there is a lack of percussion in all of the remakes or covers. But this sounds good without it because it adds more of a haunting feeling just hearing the organ playing. I used to leave the system and tv on and go to sleep to it lol.

Thanks so much! Glad you like the addition of the wind FX. I really wanted this to feel like you were watching like a scene from a CV2 movie. Like seeing Simon just walk through the ruins of this castle while wind is just whipping through all the holes and missing stones. And, no criticism taken at all! I love any kind of feedback! I guess for me though, I really toned down the percussion because I was afraid of it overpowering the classical instrument(s). Since you don’t really get “beats” in a lot of classical music I think I was worried it like wouldn’t sound as authentic or something if I boosted the drums up. But in retrospect I feel like I’d do it differently now as I’m much more into the idea that video game music can just be its own thing and when doing remakes, it doesn’t have to apply to any “rules” :)

Jay Ceester Deester Yeah it was a cool take on things. I always thought that “AFTER CASTLEVANIA I WARNED YOU NOT TO RETURN” guy was either Dracula or a demon in disguise too. Awesome to know others out there were on the same page!

Thanks! And yeah, I may go back some day and just repost this. At the time, I thought the intro wouldn’t really matter as I really was never expecting any more than maybe a dozen people to have any interest in this. But now seeing how many people like the track, a redo seems in order

CASTLEVANIA 2 REMAKE
Even with all the open world Castlevania games now, i feel like there’s still so much potential with this one if they remade it! Would love to see it
@@tinytrashcan2840 think the same. This game have a dark and gloomy atmosphere, its a mature castlevania episode, far beyond a simple adventure story... unfortunately it was poorly executed in that time.
