  • While I no longer believe that the Stone Temple Pilots are grunge copycats, they do sound like grunge.

I can’t disagree more. They were both alternative rock and that’s where the similarities start and end.

STP never sounded like any other bands from the grunge era. It’s pretty clear to anyone who actually listens to the records. 😂

Are you saying Weiland didn’t have that grunge growl? If you are I would suggest you get your hearing checked.

@@anthonyparkernearlifeexpgrunge growl?? The only thing similar was the use of blues notes in his singing and maybe his lower register. That’s it! Grunge growl. Straight up poser lingo. 🤦🏻

Scott's voice was unique, though. He had a way more delicate and gentle voice, which is more evident in the slower songs.

Yeah STP definitely sounded similar to Pearl Jam at the beginning but then they evolved I guess. But totally agree.

A super passe debate, but I'll bite. It's the collective consciousness of music. Scott Weiland was one of the greatest vocalists/lyricist/frontmen of all time, of all rock, period. Scott didn't copy shit. There's a reason STP and PJ recorded nearly all of their respective albums with Brendan O'Brien/Nick DiDia, and it's because they are two of the greatest rock bands of all time.

At what point in the video did I say anyone copied anyone? They all had the grunge growl. Many many people thought plush was Pearl Jam when it first came out. Probably because STP’s producers made them sound grunge like to capitalize on the huge popularity of alive and even flow. Doesn’t mean anyone copied anyone. But the similarity is undeniable.
