    Your ranking is exactly the same as my mine! And yes I completely agree, season 2 is incredibly underrated. I never understood why so many people rank it at the bottom, but to each their own.

    Damn, I think I completely agree with this ranking:
    5) Season 1 = An incredible start to the show with such an iconic pilot. However, I think it would have been much better if the first two episodes of season 2 acted as it's finale instead, giving it more of a punch towards the end.
    4) Season 3 = Similar to what you said, the individual episodes are great but the season as a whole didn't quite connect. It takes about 5 episodes for Walt to start cooking again, and the overarching plot with the Cousins and Gus doesn't feel that well connected.
    They nailed the plot threads of Walt and Jesse temporarily leaving the meth business, the attack on Hank, and the breakdown with Gus, but didn't weave them together as well as other seasons
    3) Season 2 = Barring the fact that it feels a bit all over the place structurally (starts with the end of season 1 and ends with a plane crash), there were so many great moments due to the emphasis on Walt and Jesse. 4 Days Out is a great episodes, and Jesse and Jane's relationship was cool.
    2) Season 5 = An absolute masterpiece from start to finish, with the biggest payoffs in the series.... but there's just two things holding it back. The neo-nazis aren't the right villains to cap off the story and I'm somewhat conflicted over how easy things were for Walt in Felina.
    1) Season 4 = Perfection. As pure as Heisenbergs meth. Virtually everything works:
    - A phenomenal villain? Yep
    - An intense game of chess between Walt and Gus, where the suspense grows and the time ticks? Yep
    - Well structured? Yep
    - The backstory and struggle of Gus? Yep
    - Crawlspace? Yep
    - End Times? Yep
    - Face Off? Yep
    Yep, yep, yep. Just 🔥

      I disagree about "perfection" The first 4-5 episodes of season 4 were just okay (great moments to move the story forward but nothing special) but from episode 6-13 are really strong. I do agree though that it might be the best season because of how tight the season is and how well-rounded it is. My fave will always be season 5 though... it was probably the most entertaining season for me personally, the Neo-Nazi's were never villians to me... they were more of a plot device, a consequence of Walt's actions .. the villian was always Walt.

    • @Onezy05
      @Onezy05 Рік тому

      @@manvirshergill1739 Aye, I do agree that some of the earlier episodes of season 4 were hit and miss until about episode 5, but part of the reason was to allow for some down time after the insanity of season 3's finale and the brutality of season 4's opening.
      Yeah, Walt kind of does become the villain in season 5 and so absolute bangers like Ozymandias show the full consequences of his actions. While I think Jack's gang was kind of weak, I guess it's kind of cool to make a connection between the neo Nazis and the fact that the real Heisenberg worked for the Third Reich.

    as someone who has just finished breaking bad, and over halfway through Better Call Saul, I can confidently say this is peak media, Its astounding how they created such a tight net universe where everything has a consequence. Also have you seen El Camino yet? You only need context from Breaking Bad to understand it.

    • @crustbound
      @crustbound  2 роки тому +2

      I have seen El Camino! Sadly I wasn't too much of a fan of it. Felt kinda unnecessary and I feel like alot of the movie kinda felt like boring nothing - could have been 1h30min and I don't think much would have been lost. That being said, I *AM* a sucker for Jesse Pinkman content, so I can only be so hard on it. I love how El Camino doubles down on Jesse being a good person even after all of the stuff that happened to him at the end of Season 5.

    Where’s the Metastasis season ranking

  • @bricksonbricks2115
    @bricksonbricks2115 Рік тому

    I just finished Breaking Bad last night:
    Imo there is no bad episode. However there is one single episode that would say is mediocre, and that S4E3 Open house. Now I think it continues to develop the plot very well, but it just is not an enjoyable watch, and I don't like the Marie plotline at all in the episode, and find it useless. Besides that every other episode is good to peak fiction.
    Alright but for my season ranking:
    5. Season 2 - Alright I gotta disagree with your take. This is still a great season, don't get me wrong, but I tuned out a bit during episodes 3 through 7 personally. They were good, but I just didn't think they were up to par with the final two eps of Season 1 or the first two episodes of Season 2. I also feel like the plane crash is a little too contrived for my taste, I still appreciate what it does for Walt's character, but within the season it just felt too contrived. Overall, still a great season I'd give it an 8/10 and 79%.
    Favorite Episode: S2E12: Phoenix - 8.5/10
    Least Favorite Episode: S2E3: Bit by a Dead Bee - 7/10
    4. Season 1 - A little short, and the finale obviously doesn't fully feel like a finale. Also controversial opinion, but I feel like the pilot is very overrated, and one of he weakest episodes and could have done a bit of a better job setting up the show. Still a really good episode, but I think episode 2: Cat's in the Bag does a better of really kicking the show into gear. However, I love the introduction to all these characters, and seeing Walt and Jesse's bickering and dynamic was so fun to see, and I loved seeing them start to cook together. Tuco and Krazy 8 were good antagonists. Seeing Walt grapple with cancer was pretty compelling for the most part (a tad bland in episode 4 ngl). And of course the "this is not meth scene" was epic. Overall, a great season, I'd give it another 8/10 and 81%.
    Favorite Episode: S1E2: Cat's in the Bag... - 8.5/10
    Least Favorite Episode: S1E4: Cancer Man - 7.5/10
    3. Season 3 - What an amazing season. Personally I like the structure of this season with us having the first half slowly tying up some loose ends from Season 2, and then slowly building up to a two part mid-season finale with Sunset and One Minute. And then us dealing with the aftermath of that in the next few eps, and building up to the two part finale with Half Measures and Full Measure. I do feel like Episodes 8-11 can be a little bit of a drag (I still think Fly is quite good, but is super out of place tbh), but less of drag than say Eps 3-7 from S2 or Eps 4-5 from S1. But I love the build up of Walt's working relationships with Saul, Mike, and Gus going into Season 4, and presumably Better call Saul. Also I think Andrea is a much better love interest for Jesse than Jane. This season also begins the trend that lasts til the end of the show of the "peak tension building" which is best showcased in the first half with the slow build up to Hank's showdown with the Salamanca twins. Overall i can kind of understand how you would think Season 2 is a better put together season, but personally I highly prefer the structure of Season 3. Overall, an amazing season, I'd give it a 9/10 and 88%.
    Favorite Episode: S3E13: Full Measure - 9.5/10
    Least Favorite Episode: S3E9: Kafkaesque - 7.5/10
    2. Season 4 - The perfect Penultimate Season. Now, I do feel like Episode 1-6 can be quite slow, and particularly Episode 3, just is hard to get through. (Also wth was up with hank's mineral obsession lol) But the masterfully crafted pay-off in the final four episodes more than makes up for it. Gustavo Fring is such a compelling villain, and throughout the season you feel the threat he brings to Walter. However, controversial take, but I feel Face Off, while being an amazing episode, just doesn't fully satisfy me. Gus's death was still very well done. But I would have like more dialogue between him and Hector, and maybe just a final tiny scene between him and Walt. Nontheless, Gus is one of the best villains in TV history. I really love the set up we got for his history with the Don Eladio and Hector in Episode 8, and then the perfect pay off to that at the end of Episode 10 with Don, and towards the beginning of Episode 11 with Hector. This is also probably Jesse's best season, I love seeing his dynamic with Mike, relationship with Andrea, and the growing tensions with Walter throughout the season. Hank's investigation of Gus and how Walter tries to prevent his discovery is all super intense throughout the second half of the season. Overall, another amazing season, and I'd give a high 9/10 and 92%.
    Favorite Episode: S4E11: Crawl Space - 10/10
    Least Favorite Episode: S4E3: Open House - 5.5/10
    1. Season 5 - Peak Fiction and television at it's finest. The first half of this season is very underrated, an amazing build up to the second half. We finally see Walter fully transform into Heisenberg, and we see him become somewhat clueless to his declining relationships with Skyler and Jesse. Mike is also at his best in this season, I love seeing his character be explored, and how we show that he truly cares for these men. His death was so tragic, and it showed how far Walter had fallen. The train heist was also the best heist sequence I have seen in any media, and was so intense, and then it just ends with the gut punch of Todd killing the kid, Drew Sharp. Ending the first half with Hank finding out Walt is Heisenberg, not because of his own skills, but rather because of Walter's arrogance and ego getting the best of him and causing him to overlook the fact that his DEA brother was over and he visibly left evidence of his involvement was an amazing choice by the writers. I feel bad for all those people who watched this while it was airing and had to wait an entire year to see the conclusion.
    Favorite Episode: S5E7: Say My Name - 9.5/10
    Least Favorite Episode: S5E4: Fifty-One - 8.5/10
    Going into the second half though, man is it so compelling. Seeing Jesse in such a depressed state when he realizes how much Walt manipulated him or when Todd and Jack force him to cook was so depressing to see. Hank and Walter playing cat and mouse was so compelling here. This half was the best set of eps for Hank's character, and all this culminating with his death at the hands of Jack felt like the best way possible to pay it all off. Not to mention, It was so smart to have the main antagonist of the season, Todd have this innocent tone is his voice while being a sadistic and practically satanic individual. Those final four episodes in particular though, were literally the best fiction I've ever seen (I mean i would say the same for the entire season and the second half), but these episodes just had everything crumbling down, and going from the fast-paced To'haijelee to the best climax and episode in fiction Ozymandias, and then to the somber and depressing tone of Granite State was the best possible way for this to go. And these three episodes all perfectly lead into such a satisfying conclusion in Felina where we see Jesse finally get his freedom, Jack and Todd get what they deserve, Walter admit to Skyler that he did it all because "I liked it", and see Walter finally get the death he's deserved for all his actions with the perfect song "baby blue" in the background. (also forgot to mention seeing Walter have a final interaction with the people involved with what is probably his biggest life regret and seeing them be the ones to get the money to his family was so satisfying to see). Felina in general is like the polar opposite of Roots from Ninjago in like everyway lol. Overall, Season 5 of Breaking Bad just has to be the best for me. It just perfectly wraps up the entire show, and ties up the masterpiece with the perfect bow. I'd give it a 10/10 and a 99%, just clearly the best season TV I have ever seen by a sizeable landslide.
    Favorite Episode: S5E14: Ozymandias - 10/10 (Felina a very very very close second)
    Least Favorite Episode: S5E9: Blood Money - 9/10
    BREAKING BAD OVERALL: 9.5/10(97%)
    Dang, this is the longest comment I've ever typed. I totally understand if no one wants to read, but personally I just wanted somewhere to type my final thoughts on my newly awarded favorite series of all time.
