    As a born and raised lahaina resident who lost their home and business I have to say I am so impressed by you and your kind perspective on the current housing crisis here. Thank you for doing your part and also for not being greedy about it. You didn't have to rent out your place and yet you did. mahalo! Hopefully your video will encourage more to open up their spot for a local family who really needs it, especially on the west side! We are currently looking for a place to rent until our house is rebuilt. We're all doing the best we can in these unfortunate circumstances. Take care

    hope you are a lawyer because you shouldn't trust snakes with smooth words. You should rent it out on your own and keep total control of your personal private and real property. The Gov, Mayor, police chief, water boy, siren boy, the published papers on Lahaina becoming a "smart town" etc, all point to intrigue and subterfuge. You should not trust snakes.

      I agree. I think Jesse is really being nice considering renting to victims, but so far all of these officials from county State Fed don't seem to follow law, for Instance, the public was never alerted to give input or info Ideas before Olowalu Dump was chosen and then illegally began its construction. Public was still testifying and under the assumption the dump had not yet been chosen or prepped But No! The dump is ready to go before public even knew it, Lawlessness

      Dont you get it. He can’t rent it out alone. FEMA will pay $6000 a month to him directly to house homeless for 2 years. Hey what’s his mortgage + maybe $1-2k? For him a month. These plate not tourists & what tourists want to be there now. Maybe that would be fair!! It’s business not being so nice.

    I made reservations 3 days before the fire to come on vacation and stay on Kaanapali at the KBH hotel. I understand there are still many survivors staying there. I have been back and forth on whether to go or not (January 7thto the 17th).
    Any input you might have for me would be appreciated.

    The agreements are short term- 24 months. After that everything may change to make having a condo unaffordable which is likely. And you may have no choice as everything is mandated by the state of Hawaii. Basically your condo is subsidized by government. The question is how long will your current agreement be effective as mandates will govern future contracts.

    We have a Kihei condo also, will be on island Friday and discussing with our property manager, they are in Dolphin center. Your condo will be fully furnished same as for STR? If so, when the tv has issues or when the coffee pot breaks, is that the same responsibility? Taxes and reduction in property management fee would put us $15-17 k ahead, other costs remain the same. We are seriously considering it. The other factor is bookings, we are booked till April but nothing after that.

While we understand the reason behind the changes, it does make it tricky to plan a trip to Maui, not knowing if your accommodations will be canceled. What about smokers,pets or too many guests? You indicate FEMA monthly meetings with the rental guests? What chance will that ever happen? At least with and STR you take a substantial damage deposit and therefore a steady ability to watch your place and items.

      Have you heard of C40/smattering cities/Resilient cities, etc. Have you heard of the WEF, Black Rock, Vanguard? Why is that the people of Lahaina got less than $1000 per family while we keep sending money to pay Ukranians salaries? Why are we giving more housing, food, transportation, communication, and cash to illegal immigrants while the people of Lahaina has not even been heard and their sacred places desecrated? Do you think FEMA is there to help? It makes sense that it was more convenient for you and the tax incentives where great. Everyone does cave to the dark forces for $ and convenience. Why is that they don't help those who lost their property directly? Many will lose their properties because no money from FEMA can go to whatever they decide. They made them beggars so they can keep the shuffling around and disturb their lives eternally or until the smart city is all done and that area is completely owned by non-hawaiians, not even Americans. But who cares when you are offered a good deal.

  • @lindaruhkamp7768

    Fema if crazy if they pay that!

    • @JesseGWald
      @JesseGWald  6 місяців тому +5

      I should have pointed out the fact that FEMA is currently paying hotel rates to house people. Many of these hotels charge $700 to over $1000 per night! It is much better for FEMA to pay an STR owner because these types of properties have full kitchens and are more livable long term AND it will be way more affordable AND it is a long term lease.
      Yes, I'm sure this video will upset some people... but all I am doing is trying to help convince other property owners to offer their properties to house fire survivors.

    • @richardnassano623
      @richardnassano623 6 місяців тому +1

      You need to take into consideration that STR’s have HOA fees $800-1000 a month, higher property tax, and 22-25% management fees along with 80-85% occupancy rate when the economy is good. So with a monthly gross of $5,400, we have 22% management fees ($2,000) $850 HOA, $650 property tax, $300 electric, $85 phone $120 insurance, $100 supplies. So close to $4,000 in fixed costs. So with FEMA we would need about $2,500 to just break even.
