One thing that always amazes me is how a life of crime can somehow affect the way so many of their faces look. Even the ones that aren't brutally addicted to drugs, the criminal life seems to affect the face and gives them an uncomfortable 'aura.' Like there's some dark cloud hovering over them.

This is a choice. People live out side because of no responsibility. No taxes, no house payments, no utilities, only dope and booze. Do not feel sorry for them.

How about: Drive there. Find a homeless person. Ask him if he/she wants your extra room at your house. Help to get a job. Repeat.
