Based on all the UA-cam videos I have watched on that spring compressor(which I purchased), the upper "perch" I believe you called it, is not supposed to go over the spring, but rather over the upper spring seat. Then after compressing the coil and removing the strut the compression can be released to remove that piece. I believe ECS(Bavarian Auto) sells their Schwaben brand, and has a UA-cam video on proper use.

Do you know how tight did you torque the strut bearing nut? The manual spec is 48 ft lb, after I torqued to the spec, the bearing can't even spin at all. I am afraid, if I did not torque to the spec, I will get noise from the mount on any bump. When I try to use impact gun to tight the nut, the shaft shaft spin.
