People shy away from older used cars. Last year i purchased a 2001 Camry. I got lucky with the car, it only had 99k miles. Paid $3800. I did have to put more money into since previous owner was 96 maintenance wasnt kept up. Did some upgrades on the stero and now i have a car that will last another 200k miles.
Not a car, but I bought a 2006 BMW F650GS motorcycle off a Craigslist add for $3,000 in 2019. New tires and oil changes is all I put into it. It's been flawless.
Nothing against Carmax, but I think it's wiser to stick to the major auto dealerships when buying used. They tend to be more realistic on the pricing, IMO.
only cars in my budget there is around 7-10 years old, but most are low mileage. i may end up buying from there when the time comes, every other dealership is totally insane. my sister bought a camry from them in 2013 that is still running, it now has 189k miles. onlhy thing had to do was 1 starter.
They're full commission? My wife and I walked around the lot for 20 minutes and no one approached us. Walked back out through the showroom and were never acknowledged when leaving.
It’s part of the iconic experience. If you don’t check in at the front, you’ll not be approached on the lot. Sounds like you need to shop at a traditional store, you apparently enjoy being bombarde by sales people.
Had to laugh. A few years ago my son sold his WRX STI to Carmax. When it was time for the appraiser to test drive, he had to go find someone who could drive a stick. 😂
@@raymond_sycamoreYep that's small engines that can't move the weight so they slap on a turbo or two. It's like giving a horse crack and hooking it to an overloaded wagon
I bought two cars from Carmax. But As he said, the process is easy. In and out in a day. But do have the cars checked out by a mechanic and get the car fax.
@2:20 if you pull up the financials for the auto manufacturers they have their own lended departments. Trust me, they are doing just fine with financing.
CarMax is offering a lower apr and arguably a lower price than anywhere else on a 4runner I'm looking at. In fact I think it's that exact 4runner you showed. I don't totally understand the CarMax process but on paper it all looks like the best deal I will get.
That’s grossly inaccurate, sounds like you haven’t actually done business with CarMax. I’ll never buy anywhere else and I use to only buy new and high line.
Convenience is overrated. I'm happy to save thousands of dollars by sending a few emails and doing a little legwork. Oh, always get a pre-purchase inspection.
These used car prices are outrageous. I’d rather buy a new one at these prices.
I’ve bought my last 2 cars wholesale through CarMax. Incredibly low price
💯Just looked. Saw a 10k mile 2022 civic sport going for $26k when the new ones (2025) are going for same price.

Can't find that up north, they've all rusted out and been tossed.
Those are solid cars.
Plan on holding on to my 2016 sonata
170k miles
Everybody qualifies for 30% interest rates.
🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
oh yes, totally insane, i have nearly perfect credit, and the best the can do intrest rate wise, is close to 10 percent. totally insane.
we need more good guys like you
Tow companies must be making bank these days.
I worked at carmax a few years ago. The salesman get paid a hourly or their commission depending on which ever is higher that pay period.
I'm subscribing... I'm here to learn. 📝✏️
No affordable new cars = no affordable used cars. Get used to it.
Nothing against Carmax, but I think it's wiser to stick to the major auto dealerships when buying used. They tend to be more realistic on the pricing, IMO.
Maybe if they didn't charge extraordinary interest, they wouldn't have so many repos.
Jack up the car prices and lower the trade-in value. Business the American Greed way
1:05 "People are not making their car payments." As Bill Engvall used to say, "Here's your sign!"

Their cars are $5000 overpriced

They were busy with co-workers.
@@JamesCook76131 Oh, they stopped us for that. We bought from a local used car dealership.
Just beginning 🎉waiting for winter 🥶 to heat sheet the fan 😂🎉
Only people really dumb with their money would consider carmax. The 7 11 of dealerships.
Had to laugh. A few years ago my son sold his WRX STI to Carmax. When it was time for the appraiser to test drive, he had to go find someone who could drive a stick. 😂
Box on drivers side window, vehicle keys. They have a special key to open that box
Thanks I was wondering what it was
What kind of people have to be 'made' to make their car payments?
I paid 10k over MSRP from CARMAX
Those cars all look really expensive!
I can’t imagine what that Wagoneer sold for back in 2022 literally probably sold for 80k
2024 45k talk about taking a hit
@@WheelsandWallets I saw a video of a brand new one with 44 miles on it being towed because the engine blew up. 44 miles.
@raymond_sycamore
Just crazy brand new vehicles, needing brand new engines 😅

Carmax is legit I love that place my sales guy has been they’re since 1999

I only use carmax as a negotiating tool. Never would buy a car from there.
That’s a very narrow minded thought. I use to only sell new Mercedes and had the same opinion. Bought my last 2 from CarMax. Much better experience
@@JamesCook76131 Good for you. I find Carmax to be overpriced with avg quality inventory. If it works for you then you do you.
Im in the repo game, I have been waiting for a flood of repos and still hasnt came surprisingly
Maybe not a flood, but several sites say that repos are up about 25% in 2024.
@2:20 if you pull up the financials for the auto manufacturers they have their own lended departments. Trust me, they are doing just fine with financing.
So happy to hear this👂 😊, the gravy train is over for these business. Karmas a B*tch!!
I walked in and offered 30k cash for a Lexus is
They turned me away

Yea no to this place
What is the box attached to each driver's side window?
Those are keyholders
Here's some trivia. CarMax was formed by defunct Circuit City in the early 90's👌
0:33 - guarantee that is a repo...
We all know why the economy is in such bad shape.😢
Carmax is offering 23k for my civic while honda dealer are offering 20.
❤❤
Overpriced and not what i like or want.
Only desperate people would buy @ Carmax.
CarMax did better on a truck for me then a local dealer did that's for sure
It has its place for buying and selling. I sold them a newer truck and they gave me more than any other online buyers or dealerships…
That’s grossly inaccurate, sounds like you haven’t actually done business with CarMax. I’ll never buy anywhere else and I use to only buy new and high line.
hahahaha awesome
Who cares your worried about carmax money lol they don't care about your money
I buy my cars used and put it on my credit card. Can’t repo me lol
