Magbak RimCase Wheel Protector for Model 3/Y Uberturbine & Induction Discount Code: LUDICROUSFEED15 for 15% OFF sitewide creators.magbak.com/ludicrous-feed
I've had these installed on my MY (20") for the past couple of months now and they have been perfect! Very happy with them. No signs of them coming off or loose at all. Thanks Tom for sharing this video review, I definitely recommend these! The only real downside is the price ($600 delivered for 5 kits), but they do a great job of protecting your expensive rims.
That's great to hear! I'm glad you have had a good experience with them. I'd say the cost is worth the heartache of eventually repairing the rims down the track 😅 plus you can always order spare parts if needed
I wish it was possible to order a single box for touch ups. Currently the checkout option only allows for an extra if you buy a full set. I’ve had them on for months. They look great.
They do recommend you remove them before replacing the tyres yes. I personally wouldn't like to leave them on as I reakon they would come off when the old tyre is removed. Whether you would need to replace the PPF film or not is another thing however. Magbak is apparently looking at offering replacement PPF kits separately.
Hi Tom just wondering- if the wheel has film applied to protect the original alloy what does the 3M adhesive tape stick to - if it’s to the film then won’t the covers come off eventually at speed
No they don't actually - I've had them on my MY now for a couple of months and they are perfect (over 2000km so far). Because they clamp on the rim the 3M is really just to support them.
They won’t come off. I’ve also had them for a few months. They latch around the wheels and interlock to each other. I was worried about them coming off as well but after my 2.5 hour drive to work and back over 4 months none have come off. They do take a while to initially install but they look good. I wish it was possible to order single wheel replacements for possible repairs.
So tedious. If they can afford a model Y performance, they can afford to pay $300 for a mobile tyre repairer to show up, buff and repaint the entire wheel. Will these plates be effective? Need a kerb test.
@@BigG2G Thank you! Yes it was the same for me. I got the same 4+1 spare package. 30 USD shipping. Not too bad! They have an introductory teaser on the site where you enter your email address and phone number and supposedly they send a 15% discount coupon to you via SMS. Never arrived, but now someone has my phone number. Months of endless silent robocalls inbound, no doubt 😖 Anyway your discount code worked, thanks Tom for the 50 USD off!! ❤
@@LudicrousFeed Just got a note from FedEx that it's already on its way, eta 9th. Amazing! I think I'll wait until I've changed my tyres (almost due) before I install them, as I reckon they'll need to be off for that. Makes me wonder if I'll need to buy a new set each time, or if they come off clean and I can just get new adhesive 🤔
I put different covers on my Y LR and my wife has scratched every one of them in the last few months. Not really viable to repair alloys every few months.
I'm with you, these are horrific. They cheapen the look of really nice wheels. It's like those rubber sticker/bumper things some people stick to the edge of the car doors and the corner of the rear bumper on their Camry. Here's an idea - learn how to park your car and don't drive into the gutter. I mean, imagine if Tesla could introduce a feature where the kerbside mirror tilted down when reversing into a parking space...oh, hang on...

Looks pretty good. I like that you went to the effort of scuffing up your rims to demonstrate this product 🤭
All in

Might be worth emailing then to see if you can
You should do this for the 2024 M3 - maybe a list of what owners should buy ;)
Good suggestion
Any chance you can ask Riz to elaborate further on his article about the Atto 3? Comment section was pretty harsh on him
We can discuss on our next live 👍
Curious, if these rim protectors will need to be replaced when it comes to replacing the tyres

Trust me when I say that it’s firmly latched mechanically onto the wheel. The adhesive is just a secondary measure

The owner in this video has scuffed one of the segments already and yes it did save the rim 👍
I’m getting spares for him
No 19” sports wheel option :(
Submit a request to Magbak? If enough people do it they may manufacture one? 🤔
I wonder what your tyre guy will think when it comes to replacing tyres?
I think the consensus is to remove them before changing tyres
Hopefully not a frequent activity but I wonder if you can get replacements for the protective films on the rim. They might be toast afterwards.
The covers will just bring the wife even closer to curbing them on the gutter 😂
Better the covers than the original alloy 😁
Looks Like they don't ship to Frankston VIC
😔
Think I'll order one. How much was shipping to Australia?
I’ll find out for you

👍
Just repair the wheel if need be... this looks hideous..and what happens when you scratch the cover .. U be replacing this over priced plastics
Additional packs can be purchased if needed at a fraction of the cost of repairing a damaged rim

@@markeaton6734 you need wheel insurance cover.. not replacing plastic covers.

How many people will wished they had put these on, lol.
Never too late as you saw in my vid! You can either cover the current rim rash now ... or repair them once, then cover them with the RimCase. Voila!
