R.I.P. Judith Durham of the seekers. I just loved this song as a child of the 60s and 70s. The song Georgy Girl is for a movie of the same name with a very younger British actress Lynn Redgrave.
Every time I see the Seekers, I fall for Judith Durham all over again. Her voice is just beautiful. Why did he shyness get the better of her then. If only she knew then how loved she was.
Look how far she was off that microphone. She was a very talented singer. So cute too. I am sure I would have fallen madly in love with her if I was around.
The movie "Georgy Girl" was a quintessential British comedy movie of its time that took a self-effacing view of what one assumed to be typical lives of British society in the swinging sixties. The upbeat song fits in nicely with that and I believe it helped establish the Seekers as one of the next wave of bands to climb the pop charts in the UK and maybe the US. "Dasher" is a fine word, or was in England and Australia around the time that this song first came out. And you used it correctly and so beautifully as it was almost exclusively used by ogling females to describe handsomely dressed males.
@@robertworrell6287 Wow -- didn't realize that. My sis came into town from Miami for my b'day on 11/11 -- and we watched GEORGY GIRL on TCM -- and then I rented BORN FREE for $3.99 and we watched that. Stayed up until 4 in the morning. But how funny that they were the same year, and both nominated for Best Song. Somehow I knew it would be a great double feature though.
Judith Durham had a perfect natural soprano…and always sounded great…I was in high school when I’ll Never Find Another You came out…and in quich order they had released 3 songs that topped the charts in England…actually knocking the Beatles off the top spot…
I knew this reaction would be great. First heard this on the radio in 1968 (a year after it blew up in 1967). I luv the vocals. Even to a child this song hit different.
I read that when she was young, as she was here, Judith Durham didn't like the way she looked. Was she insane? She was beautiful on the inside and the outside. And what a supremely talented singer. Her vocals were utterly beautiful.
Judith Durham performed a song called Forever isn't Long Enough for Me after her husband died. It was beautiful. Her voice was probably as close to hearing an angel as possible in this life. Oh, I think the word you were searching for was dapper as in "Dapper Dan". Loved your reaction. Thanks and we'll see you next time.
You picked the best version of the song again. Judith was one of the most wonderful singers to grace this world. No airs or graces, nothing artificial. Just pure talent and a joy to behold. ❤
What’s a quick comment, you mentioned her dress well she made the dress herself, and if you notice the crowd there were over 200,000 people at that concert and that’s the largest ever in the southern hemisphere. The movie was Lynn (daughter of Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson; sister of Vanessa and Corin Redgrave) Redgrave's debut. It is much darker than the bouncy theme song. Group's biggest hit.

Her voice is so indescribable. You can just fall into the sound. A beautiful kind of cross between folk rock and sunshine pop. I was only 5 when this came out but I sang it around the house all the time.
