    Supper cool an some of the best freeze dries food I have seen. The only downside is needed the room for a freeze dryer. However if one has the space and into preserving foods it a worth having.

    Interesting that the people supplying the Military Ready to Eat meal kits (MRE's) are going more and more to freeze-drying. They last, as you said, a considerably longer shelf-life time, and when reconstituted with water, they bring back good taste and nutrition under battlefield conditions.

    • @theredheadedhomemaker7644
      @theredheadedhomemaker7644 2 роки тому

      @@acresofclayhomestead I sliced them and did a single layer. We parboiled the potatoes. Once the water came to a boil we timed them for 4 minutes then run over cold water. Dried them off w paper towels and I lined the trays with parchment paper. I recently bought mesh that is used for a dehydrator and I'll be able to layer them on the trays. I hope this helps. Feel free to message me. ☺ I have a youtube channel too. The redheaded homemaker.

    That's pretty darn cool, I don't know much about the whole process, that's why I'm watching you, it sure seems to work well, and you've definitely been busy already putting food up, so you're not bothering with a freezer at all, or you probably still need something for the meat, as good as the fruit looked, I was very interested in the eggs, hopefully you can show a little more about that, fascinating new way for sure, thanks for sharing Rhonda
