I feel this is a new phenomena for cureent generations. Producers and and artists never had to make so much music. It was more about the art than the amount. I think this is why individualism has lost its way a bit and the reason a lot of musicians get depressed

Ayo the ultimate thing I learned is that the best way to live a better life is to do self reflection. Take time to slow down for a few days and reflect. Go outside, connect with nature, the roots of everything where we all came from. You will cleanse your mind cause nature got a healing effect for our body and minds. Take a step back when you notice you're letting your ego get the best of you and affect the way you move and act, maybe you even ruin an opportunity or a connection cause you let your ego get in the way. Be critical about yourself but don't beat yourself up. That's what helped me find my peace over the last 3-4 years, I'm almost 22 now and when I was around 18-19 I was lacking the self awareness. I would engage in useless arguments to defend my ego and my points when in reality it didn't fucking matter. It didn't change anything or improve anything in my life, it was just a waste of time. Time is not wasted when you enjoy yourself, doesn't matter what the fuck you do. Live life and follow your passions

The fact that you know what your barriers are within yourself is 10 steps ahead of a lot of people. Figure out a clear direction for yourself and put work in step by step daily. I was just thinking about this the other day too. Im kinda new to this beatmaking stuff but i was already pressuring myself u gotta make money off this, u gotta do better and stuff like that, comparing myself to bigger prods who made thousands of dollar at this point in their careers. Then I reminded myself my goal with music is not even selling beats and stuff why am I forcing this shit into my head? I even paid for promoting my beats on beatstars(spent like 150 bucks 0 sales), but dont know even why. We like to overthink and stress over things instead of just saying fuck it. been focusing on myself alot more this year too, definitely more rewarding overall! I recommend to everybody reading "Atomic Habits" by James Clear if you haven´t already. As Mac said in the video, we all know what we gotta do and what we gotta improve, and this book really helps putting it all into a clear perspective. Small steps, consistency, and get better day by day. Don´t be too hard on yourself, but find a balance that suits YOU regardless of what everyone else is doing and stick to it

I have been producing music for around 6 years, and grinding to try to "make it" for like 3, and I have come to the same conclusion. It got unhealthy and my life needed more balance, so I'm enjoying it while still working. I don't think the enjoyment in my life involves as much of "Making it big" than Working towards goals and improving in general.

Re content creation, I used to do kpop reaction videos and also hit a drought, plus copyright issues meant I couldn't monetize. took 2 years to rethink what I really wanted to do about this channel, and a 2 year detour at chef school which was intensive, meant I didn't have the headspace to create content. But all these time had just allowed me to think about the life I really wanted to live and then make content around it. Back after September with more structure and fun plans 😊 take it easy bro, think about what kind of life you wanna live and wrap music around that.

Problem with music production in 2024 sounds like solutions to life period. This year I've been on a bunch of livestreams just chatting and we're all coming to the quick conclusion that we need a break to breathe and recharge and I think the pandemic put a battery in our backs for a while but burnout is real and it's catching all of us. I'm 37 years old and this is the first time in 3 years I said I think I'm good with the social media and music tiktoks and UA-cam uploads at least for free, I've just been making music and picking out what makes sense for an album and putting it out period. I got tired of the 130% I was putting in and people not even sniffing at the work so I had to reevaluate what I was doing and why I'm still doing it this way and I realized that I was just done. It happens when it's just a bunch of emojis and no interactions period, at the end of the day I'm a producer and if it can't be used by rappers then I've gotta pivot back to music for the love for a minute because I will never not love music and I might get lucky to have y'all follow and care but I'm definitely about to do me for the rest of the year, next year I'll try entertaining the world again
