The two of them have worked together for years, tailoring countless pieces from Trinny’s wardrobe to give them a new lease of life. From altering a dress so that it doesn’t swamp your figure to the importance of a well-fitting pair of trousers, Azucena has so many handy tips and tricks for making clothes work for your shape.

Omg that Balmain coat wow!
My version of Azucena was a husband and wife who ran a dry cleaning and tailoring shop. Their shop was in a building getting ground up renovations and instead of finding a new shop they decided to retire. While I am happy for them, I haven't found a suitable tailor since. If you find a good tailor, hold onto them as long as u can and appreciate ur working relationship. Also, when the do retire, ask for them to help u find someone new.
This was brilliant. I wish I knew someone like Susanna (sorry, I’m not sure how to spell her name) to help me change and repair some of my clothing. 💕👍🏽

YES! YES! YES! A fitted undergarment with shoulder pads!! I have been on the hunt for months. My shoulders are petite with a slight slope. Subtle shoulder pads totally change my look. I will be gladly be your first customer!
Yes, please! I would SO buy that. I also have sloping shoulders. Please do that! I have bought a top like this one, but the idea of a kind of ‘netted’ undergarment would be perfect.
I agree with everything except the Balmain dress. It looks phenomenal on you! I stopped the video and just started how beautiful it is and how stunning it looks on you! But you can wear everything.. I guess you are stunning and that is why.

Thanks for this! Could you do a video on how to dress androgony in outfits? I feel like it's so much about tailoring and structure but I wonder if you have other tips? I tend to feel uncomfortable in clothes that are too feminine or too masculine, it's sometimes hard to dress neutral without being very boring and predictable!

Tailoring is the game changer! It can make a cheap garment look expensive because it changes the fit. My body type (longer legs and a J-Lo bum) makes skirts and dresses shorter on me, so I often have to size up for length, and then it’s way too baggy everywhere else. My tailor comes to the rescue by altering the larger dress/skirts to fit me, and it looks like it was custom made for me.

I think I learned from my mother to hem trousers a little shorter in front, that was routine practice. And you are absolutely amazing! Watching you being creative is such a joy and inspiration!

You could have also openend a side split on the inside of the bottom of the trouser hem which would help with the way the trouser leg drops over your feet .
I’ve also discovered the nude cycling shorts-style undies and seamless bras, they greatly simplify getting dressed, as they work under nearly everything. With a few black sets for under dark knits, etc. that’s all we need. I got sick of trying to wear “sexy” underwear with lace, seams, riding up, bright colors, etc., I just want comfortable, practical things underneath.

..lovely to see you ,looking so fit , so good with dresses .i will do that with mine ,as have this zimmerman dress ,with similar problem being to tight now around the bust ,ive take some material off the hem ,and had it stiched to the waist .done the job...😄
Shortening the sleeve on the last one with the cuff will be great. The cuff will mimic the wide waist insert!

Yes Yes Yes! (sounds like Meg Ryan hahaha) please a pattern of the Zara top in power mesh genius! I sew and do this all the time but finding power mesh has eluded me xx
I’ve used a seamstress since my mid 20’s to alter even high st clothes exactly to my body shape. She has a great eye for things that I know are ‘off’ but don’t know why. I discovered my hips are slightly uneven, which made pants look disheveled. I’m forever being asked where I bought a certain item, and having to say ‘umm, I can tell you, but I think it’s the fit that you’re noticing and that’s all about going to a tailor!’.
Thinking that final dress would be lovely as a skirt with a cashmere sweater in plum or some such shade. Even with the shorter sleeve it is too ‘party frock’, I think, to be wearable on a regular basis. Because the skirt is a little stiff and not at all drapey, it needs something that feels and looks soft at the top?
🤔 Think the shorter sleeve definitely improved it👍. Trinny can typically pull off an exaggerated statement sleeve
(🚫 something I can do🤣), but it was wearing her in this case😔.
You've got a valid point about the
🥳 party frock🎉 impression. For decades, I lived in dresses. There's nothing better than a "one & done" that can beautifully elongate our frame. Except nowadays most dresses strike me as "too"... fussy, formal, churchy, girly, matronly, etc. 🥺. Truly tricky to find the right balance of ♀️ femininity & fierceness. 🤗Thankfully, finding considerably more success with skirts in that direction.
😉Although I am experimenting more with some of my old dresses. Adding a cropped color coordinated jumper on top of a more formal dress can make it feel more funky & approachable for regular life, esp. when paired w/a slip-on sneaker. Or, figuring out "no sew" ways to adjust hem length to make the dress feel fresh. Sometimes a simple tweak can make all the difference.
