    About the acoustically transparent desk: There's a video series colab between Acoustics Insider and Music City Acoustics where they featured a design they came up with (in the last episode near the end I believe). It's basically just a bunch of planks screwed together with the narrow sides up, so there is as little surface to it as possible/sensible with the setup. That concept might work in your situation as well.

    I've ben using a standing desk for more than a year now and absolutely love it! I practically don't sit when working at all anymore, because standing is just that much more comfortable for me. Highly recommend it!

    Great as always! Eric valentine made an acoustic transparent console for undertone Audio. I think he used a mesh steel type sheets. It would be worth looking into Eric's a genius 🤘

    Find myself stood at my desk, hunched over which isn't good of course.
    Really need to get a standing desk.

    I have a really great custom made standing desk that also lifts quite a bunch of weight... but I think the **coolest** thing you guys did--- something that ALL studio desk manufacturers' should consider offering --- are those risers for speakers that are off the desk.

    Would watch James put together a desk again for the lols.

    Angle the normally horizontal surfaces of the desk back by about 10-15 degrees (experiment based on shape and size of the slab), leaving only a small horizontal keyboard, mouse, and coffee cup area. Yes, it makes the desk awkward, and I refuse to do that to my setup, but it's the only way I've seen it done and verified by measurements. Alternatively, check out photos of the beautiful Joao Carvalho Mastering room in Toronto. It's arguably the most acoustically balanced room in the world. The back of his desk has specific angled surfaces and acoustic absorbers you can mimic.

    Acoustically transparent desk: Curuxa Customs 1 bay desk. The sides are made of fabric and sound can travel through it. If you contact them you can pick the 1 bay desk (it’s small but gets the job done!)

    Nice Guys! 👍🏻👍🏻Would be great if you can tell us more about the white Desk with the LED Lights build in! It looks so cool! My Dream Desk would be such a Desk in white high glossy with build in LED lights, Rack Spaces, an 88 Keyboard Tray and this all in a height adjustable motorized sit to stand! 😍😍😍 But unfortunately I don't have those Skills to do it on my own and I don't know somebody who can build it custom made for me.. 😞

      James here:
      The desk in my room features in most videos! It's a custom desk made by us to fit my multiple screens and workflow the best. We designed and built it in-house.

    Any news on the new driver for the new speakers, or is a new video forthcoming?
    Oh, and I was really hoping to see you upload the video-call you had with Stan at Bliesma… I’d like to know why the alu-mg drivers are the better choice for home hifi.

      Hey there, thanks for the comment. We ended up going for a cabinet redesign instead, so you’ll be hearing about that very soon indeed!
      The interview ended up being below our usual production standards, and so we are working on making this better for everybody - many of our viewers know that we only put out content which we believe is as good as possible, so please bear with us for that

  • @glennmckenzie1096
    @glennmckenzie1096 Рік тому +1

    Not exactly a 'transparent' idea - but how's about the desk top being mounted on a slight tilt towards you (ie: up at back, down at front) to change the amount and direction of reflection?

  • @markmallinder7618
    @markmallinder7618 Рік тому +1

    I’m building my own project studio right now and was also wondering the same thing about having a desk that has minimal impact on the soundstage.
    I thought about covering the desk with carpet but then I also thought about having the desktop made out of Aluminium sheet, perforated with thousands of tiny holes. I’m pretty sure that the latter idea would work well but it’s not an easy task getting a prototype built.

    A music-studio chair, built like a tank..? Should it then run on ‘groovy tracks’ rather than wheels..?
    How could you tell James was working hard on his desk-assembly..? It took him a while before he put his feet up..!
    Will Mark be slapping his big organ on the new desk, too..?
    I see James didn’t actually go through the centre of the Earth... I suppose D.I.Y isn’t his ‘core’ skill.
