I have been studying Andrew Wiltse’s “Daisy Fresh Knee Slice” instructional recently. He gives a ton of valuable conceptual insight on the knee cut pass, as applied in a variety of common scenarios.
Highly recommended for anyone who wants to level up their “Basic Knee Cut”.

Dante definitely got it from his time training with Jason Rau, but he's been pulling it off in competition more than anyone lately.
Really enjoyed this video! Just two small points though, not trying to nitpick, just trying to help with understanding:
1. There's a difference between uchi mata and harai goshi. uchi mata your leg cuts between their leg (so this pops up often in the dogfight as you pointed out and is what Dante did to Ethan, also saw this throw at ADCC 2022, an example from the dogfight is Giancarlo vs Hulk ua-cam.com/video/M3B72KKpmkA/v-deo.html).
Harai goshi your leg cuts across both of their legs (which is how Gary Tonon threw Dante Leon at ADCC 2019, you can even hear Shawn Williams call it that in the commentary ua-cam.com/video/WPFIX9c4UV0/v-deo.html). Both throws pop up from similar upper body grips but I think harai goshi is less common from the dog fight because of the lower hip height.
2. I think I've heard the sort of rolling cross ashi entry that Dante uses from the single leg referred to as a victor's roll (as per Garry Tonon's shoot to kill instructional and Craig's Knee Bah instructional). Gary demos this move here: (ua-cam.com/video/cbhrQ06ZdiA/v-deo.html)
I think it's different to the kani basami because the kani basami takes you backwards and so works best when your opponent puts weight on their heels. Victor's roll needs your opponent's weight on their toes so that you can make them roll forward with you. Danaher covers using both of these to defend single legs at the end of his second Standing2Ground instructional at the end of his section on using submissions.
I've actually seen both kani basami and victor's rolls used as follow ups to uchi mata. I guess if your uchi mata gets your opponent's weight on the toes but doesn't sweep, you roll into the legs. If your opponent preempts the uchi mata and postures upright, you can use a kani basami to take them backwards. In this clip here (ua-cam.com/video/dT8WehA10_w/v-deo.html) Gordon tries uchi mata on Meregali who postures and then Gordon uses a hand assist kani basami to take Meregali backwards and land in top cross ashi.
Again, big fan of the channel and not trying to nitpick, just thought you'd fine some of the references useful!

4:41 not uchi mata, more like cross body osoto gari or harai goshi. Fairly different throwing mechanics. Awesome vid as always!
Very cool channel, I learn a lot from these breakdowns.
I have one comment for you on this video about the uchi mata... When they chop the far leg from the front it's actually harai goshi. This adds a ton of power over the "leg uchi mata" lifting the near leg. Of course there is the "hip uchi mata" on the inside of the far leg and the hane goshi, but uchi mata and harai goshi are the big ones. It might not look so different, but the harai goshi is BIG power.

Kaynan Cardio-Tapped. Meregali and Ffion were both off in the mounted arm-triangle. Leo Vieira has the best one/best system. Learned it as a white belt at a seminar, has been part of my game for the better part of a decade.

@@LIMIBJJ It's very popular in the Gi and used by Tommy Langaker. I am a NoGi guy but the guard itself is definitely the best Gi guard I've adapted to NoGi. With KneeCut being so prevalent, this guard has definitely forced people to attempt alternate passes, in which I will change my guard accordingly. But in my experience, Keymaster Guard beats KneeCut (Even stopped Fifion, forcing her to attempt a different pass altogether).

Dante didn't get hit with Uchi Mata against Garry,thats Harai Goshi. Carlos Enrique also used Harai Goshi,not Uchi Mata. Uchi Mata splits the middle.

Arm-triangle- You need foreheads touching and before you dismount, make sure your elbow is on the mat, raise your wrist and stuff them into the corner of your elbow if you have to, then when you dismount, put your chin on their forehead and press your peck into the armpit. your hips should be both down flat on the mat, don't be on your knees. You will fail if your face is down, staring at the mat.

Is the narrower aspect ratio different to avoid copyright or something?
I am not really sure to be honest. My internet was out last week and with the fires in Maui it was a bit hectic. I was all over the place and sourcing the videos from different computers so I think the narrower aspect ratio was a result of me doing that. By the time I realized it was doing that, it was kinda too late to adjust everything if I wanted to get the video out today

I had never heard of a lower leg shift till just now. Ive always called it a lucas hook, or lucas leite half guard. Plus I'm way out of the loop on all the Japanese terminology. It is basically a tool to help you navigate match footage better. So if you want to see some knee cut guard passes it will show you where they are. Or if you want to see arm bars, it will show you the matches we have that ended in arm bars

Body lock passing has been my favorite until i got that one weird flexible dude. Kneecut will always be my easiest one to use.
