I’d stay away from darker walls. The amount of light those darker walls absorb will surprise you and you will have to go overboard with lighting to see what it is you’re working on.
Not only that it will be a hell of a lot hotter inside the trailer
I would do a light gray hide stains and not absorb to much light
A semi or satin battleship type grey color would work. It wouldn't be too dark and still reflect light.
A roll out awning will also make for more comfort for the outside.

Dude! A lot to cover here, so I hope you take the time to read it. I've talked to you a few times before. I'm the retired pro ATV guy that rode for Klemm Research way back in 88'-90'. First thing, for stickers, decals, tape, etc., a heat gun (don't get it too hot) and plastic scraper. Then WD-40 on a rag will break down and remove the residue. Okay, now for the interior. The dark interior looks cool and all, but trust me, when you want to work on an ATV, you're gonna be kicking yourself in the ass all the way home to redo the whole thing if you don't lighten it up quite a bit. That's why they usually install that white, very reflective, paneling on the walls. It bounces the light around. I would also consider installing pop-in ceiling LED's. Your ceiling should have about 1" clearance between the interior panel and the roof panel. That's more than enough clearance for those lights. You can also pop in a couple in the bottom of your cabinets over the workbench. In my race trailer, I had the lights divided into sections of the trailer, with a separate switch for each section. Get a big 12v deep cycle battery (or 2 - 6v golf cart batteries) and a good inverter for the trailer. Run a charge line from your truck to the trailer so you can recharge your trailer battery while you drive. The rubber flooring might seem like a great thing until you have to roll your toolbox across it. That is, unless you get a toolbox with the big wheels on it. Don't forget. You'll need a way to anchor the toolbox in the trailer. A fold-up bed over the wheel wells works pretty good for overnight camping. Towards the back of the trailer and up high, I had a tire rack for all the different wheels I needed. IE: Paddles, different grooved knobbies, Hoosiers, etc. On the workbench, I had a mounted vice and a bench grinder with a wire wheel and a buffing wheel attached. WHEW! This is getting lengthy.
Okay, now this is important. On the outside of the trailer, you'll want some good lighting off the side and out the back. Nice, bright, LED lightbars work great for this. I can't even count how many times I've had to wrench on my quads, buggies, or dirtbikes at night at a race track, stadium, or desert and was glad I invested in lighting for my trailer. Also, an awning is nice, but if you have a couple EZ-ups (or canopies), you'll be fine. A 20' - 30' roll of Astro-Turf makes for a nice touch too. For your axles, get Bearing Buddies (or equivalent) and you'll never worry about bearings overheating or running dry on grease ever again. That's about it....for now. Ha Ha Ha I hope that helps.
I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this but make sure you re-seal the roof. I had an older trailer leak on me. I recommend talking to a trailer or rv store. They will likely recommend a self levelling sealant. Or you could use polyurethane. Avoid using silicone sealant anywhere on tye trailer. Much better to use polyurethane!
Not sure if you need a heater but if so try to find one or two that you can mount on the same way the lights are mounted. I got radiant heater and mounted them like that. Out of the way and they made those cold days much nicer to work on stuff or warm up after a cold ride. Make sure to size your generator correctly if you are planning on using one.
Also, avoid using dark vinyl inside the trailer. Lighter colours will make it much brighter inside.
You can seal cheap led lights with polyurethane as well, just gob in over that back to make them seal better.
Also I’ve used those 12v interior leds in my camper and they are so worth it in my opinion. I like the 5500k bright white ones. Highly recommend trying them. Out of 20 lights I’ve had one fail in 2 seasons.
I’m sure you will drill holes at each end of that crack in the swing arm but just a reminder to prevent that crack from spreading in the future.

I wouldn’t do dark walls , also I think 1 solid led strip around the inside of the trailer that you can change to whatever color would be kewl 🤘🏼
The flooring that your looking at I’ve got in my trailer it is good and I have had gas leek on it quite a bit and never had a problem had it for about 5 years.

Your going to want to seal all the way around the new flooring with something like a black sika flex, I work for an rv repair company and we do a LOT of toy haulers and race trailers similar to yours.
I wouldn’t flat black the walls since you plan on working out of it because it’ll make it dark in there, try to stay with white or some other lighter color. Leds are a great idea I want to convert my toy hauler over to those for less draw on the batteries at night and I could probably get away with a less expensive solar panel to keep them topped off. Nice trailer btw Mike your going to love owning one.👍🏼
u could go with the rhino liner type textured floor, thats what i have, looks good and is super durable
You need a quality bench vise and maybe a epoxy floor to cover the yellow. They do make a thin diamond plate look boards for a option on the wall.

Epoxy floor is the way to go, my dad did his basement on his own. it’s custom as hell looks like a $11,000 job but he only spent a few G’s on material
I agree with other commentators, the walls should be white. I used PLAS-TEX 1/16” 48”X96” white Polywall plastic panel (Home Depot $26.) to line our BMX race trailer. It resists scratches and is easily cleaned.
We always like to carpet the floor and the bottom 2 or 3 feet of the walls all around the inside of the walls. Carpet is alot nicer to lay on to tie down cars bikes and so on also if you sleep in the race trailer like I do it is alot nicer to sleep on then wood or tile floors . Simple indoor outdoor carpet in any color you like

@@MichaelSabo we used those 2x 2 squares of carpet and just replaced the pieces that got ruined- it cuts down the echo chamber effect too.
@@MichaelSabo it cleans up very well and just a normal vacuum cleaner or shop vac makes it look like new in no time.
I would definitely take the wheels off and repack the bearings scope it out that way you know everything is fresh and lubed up good and check your lights
I agree. Need to pull apart the hubs and replace the inner seal then repack with new grease.
I used garage floor epoxy with the flakes on my plywood trailer floor. A lot of guys do the ribbed rubber flooring as well. You can get dirt bike wheel chocks that recess into the floor. The side door, I would add one of the locking bars like your rear doors have.
If you add the locking bar to the side door, add some windows with egress ability. That way nobody can lock you in your own trailer. Especially if you ever plan on sleeping in your trailer. Black wrap on the walls might make it really dark inside.
I've seen the wheel chocks for bikes that are built in, definitely cool
@@MichaelSabo idk if I missed you saying it but carbon fiber wrap on the faces of those scratched up cabinets would look amazing.
Definitely a bright colour on the walls so you can work inside, and some RGB led stripes so you set the lights colour according to your needs. But a very cool trailer for what you need.

Your wall panels are likely FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic). You can get replacement panels that are textured for about $30 for a 4x8 sheet. They sell it in grey as well. It likely cracked because there is no insulation behind it for support. Adding insulation board may be worth it. 1/16" HDPE sheets are far more durable and $50-60 per sheet. We used Luan in our trailer. The options are endless.
Check out the Fastway flip Jack, electric brake cable coil, and also the wheel chocks. They make your life more simple. I have them on both of my trailers. I have a 2021 grand design 315RLTS and the flip Jack is way nice. The trailer is 38’ long so the flip Jack is strong and safe is why I mention it.
Now that's a primo unit right there 👌 nice for storing machines and transporting. One of these days I'll get a 30fter lol

Strip the vinyl floor covering, sand the wood, and use some valspar deck paint with non-slip additive in it. Keeps the floor looking nice.

yes I would kept that paint scheme. and off set the led lights up top. and the sticker/poster will look awsome on the back side above the work bench and on the sides of the trailer.
Always had good luck with Carlisle Trail HD Trailer Tires. Would go with a light color inside. Heat gun, denatured alcohol n a plastic scraper on the old stickers. If ur goin to pull it with a 1500, u might want to look into the road master active suspension to add to the rear. Helped alot when towing my 4 place snowmobile trailer. Takes about an hour to install.
K.I.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE. The brighter you make the inside the less light you need. Light color wrap for the walls, LED lights, and a textured floor for easy cleaning.
The kiss theory is definitely a factor. I suffer immensely from wanting to customize way too much lol
Honestly I think that looks good and if the walls are black they're going to hide a lot of Mark scuff marks things like that I say go for it with LEDs I'd make it so that they can be white if you want them to be or colored because it'll be dark in there with the walls being black that way when you're trying to work you can turn the white lights on so you can see it'll light up any shadows 👍👍
If possible I'd reccomend for the celling LEDS: running the ones that have a remote to change color and light intensity. I know Amazon offers a set to run in house on 120V. Great work as always Michael.

Thanks for the little photoshop demo. Cutting things out is the worst so this was a great way to show how you mod things without having to spend a ton of time cutting. The trailer is going to look good. With the darker colors on the walls and floor, I'd probably lean at putting 1 strip of white lights all the way around the top vice just the red or blue accent lights. Also, since you have a tandem axle grab 2 spares. If you get a flat on one side from running something over, there's a good chance you'll end up with punctures on both tires.
I’d do something like a spray on bed liner on the walls and stuff. Raptor liner has a clear that u can add color too whatever color u want. And depending on air pressure while spraying can change the texture.

mirror/high polish with oscillating or pulsing LEDs would look slick and you could tap into your existing lighting. FYI, Mineral Spirits and a buffing wheel will do magic on that finish.

I got a 7 X 12 enclosed trailer. I epoxied the floor and added the epoxy flaxes then clear coated it. Also added 20 feet of black e track from a Amazon (10ft on each side) and put that in the floor. Put motion sensor lights in the middle of the ceiling. In the V nose. Also painted the walls white. I put a small shelf and bolted a craftsmen tool box to the top. And put up some shelves to hold oil etc. and hooks to hood helmets!! It turned out INSANE!!
I love the mobile garage it just takes things to another level . Btw can u make a video about essential tools that u use and think that are a must have for your rebuilds.

Skip the Master Locks, they don’t hold up well. Look at Paclock for your lock needs.
For the coupler while parked/in storage, Proven Industries coupler lock will take a Paclock puck.
I did the above and gave my coupler lock, hitch pin lock, and padlocks all keyed alike.
Floral wallpaper seems perfect for the walls to me.
I recommend getting some white reverse light for the back of the trailer. It's REALLY nice to see where your going at night specially with the longer trailer

Instead of red on one side and blue on the other I would run red on the top of both sides, white below the red on both sides, then blue below the white on both sides. Just an idea! As far as the stickers go, use a heat gun then pull that junk off and clean up the glue afterwards, did a ton of racecars throughout the years.
The red trailer brake lights can work as long as you don’t bump anything even the slightest lol. The plastic came off for me so I epoxied it to stay and keep dirt and water out

I used those rubber mats in the past and they swell up for sure when you spill gasoline over them. Speaking from experience. Never found rubber mats that could take gasoline.
Definetly get new tires!! I have several trailers and blow outs on the enclosed trailers can cause major damage.. I usually do the steel bands tires for the gooseneck around 190 each but 14-16 ply.. and grease the bearings as the seasons change..
Those Hercules tires work so good, my dad runs a chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace, which is a non-profit organization that gives kids beds so they don’t sleep on the floor, anyways we bought a 17 foot trailer and it came with the tires. We over load the trailer pretty much every time cause of all the saws, drills, and stuff we need for a build day so volunteers can build the critical parts we need to deliver and assemble the beds. My dads f150 squats like a mother but it holds up and those trailer tires hold up as well
I live in Florida. It gets pretty hot down here. I saw a haul trailer like this one all decked out for shows. They had an AC system mounted on the roof so he could get some relief during shows. I’m guessing he had some sort of battery back up system for power. The rollout awning with the table/booth made for a really nice setup.
I work in the auto body industry and honestly I’d recommend a heat gun on the decals and get them nice and warm and they should peel off. If not it takes time but use the erasers wheel on a low speed and work back and forth
The walls cracking on the inside is common, I’ve used these trailers a whole lot for my lawn care business. The cool thing is having the heat/ac because you can sleep in the trailer when you go places. Invest in a good cot or a good air mattress for night time. We diamond plated the entire inside of our trailer so we can pressure wash it out. Keep good 10 ply or better tires on it, anything less can blow out under a lot of weight. Other than that, just make sure you keep the wheel bearings greased and the wheel hubs will not overheat. If it has trailer brakes then make sure those brakes stay serviced as well. Awesome purchase man, this thing will do you a LOT of good on your trips. You can set up a good 10x20 canopy tent outside of the trailer and you can park quads under that on location and you could sell some merch as well. They also make a bench that folds up to the side, and if you get one on each side and the matching table then the benches fold down and makes a bed across the trailer so you can put an air mattress on there. On the outside I would do a wrap with pictures of your T-Shirt logos all over and in big letters put “The Basket Case Toy Hauler” with “Mike Sabo” under other. Then down the back and across the bottom on the sides put ALL your social media links. The trailer is a rolling billboard man, use it to advertise what you do.
Oh, some states require running lights across the top in the front, sides, and back. I would recommend getting some in yellow incase you travel through a state that requires them. If you have a Rural king or Tractor Supply they might have some of the things you’re looking at fairly cheap and you can see it in person before you buy them. They also have a lot of trailer parts and equipment as well.

That trailer is going to be a good benefit for you especially if you stock it up full of extra supplies and parts oil tools something happens something breaks you can fix it right on the spot and then you're not down for the whole weekend that's a good investment
Another good idea would be a a screen door or some drop down screening to keep bugs and mosquitoes out if you have to sleep in it. Or work in it
Use a steamer such as a handheld clothing steamer to remove the vinyl. It rejuvenates the material and you will be able to practically pull it off by hand after lifting some of the corners with a plastic scraper. It will be the quickest and the least damaging option. If that does not work they sell a product called rapid remover. Spray it let it sit for a few minutes and it will eat away at the adhesive on the vinyl. It will definitely take it off you'll just have more to clean up.
Definitely put an awning on the outside and some light but a deck or something on top we be cool bery common for race trailers, love it tho excited for the transformation
When your using the eraser wheel use the slowest setting and itll be a little easier on the paint but still take the sticker off. Found out the hard way on my truck

Just want to say that while the color design is awesome, it looks dark. So maybe have a lot of lighting and I'll be ok. Awesome colors though.
Vinyl wrap the exterior, will hide lots of imperfections, we did it with a bunch of our older race trailers, especially that back gate, strip the Vinyl and wrap it, anyone looking close enough to notice needs a smack anyways lol
One thing that I have found I love with my enclosed trailer is my windows. I have windows on both sides.

@@MichaelSabo wish I could reply with a picture of mine for ya. The windows 🪟 allow a nice cross breeze when riding. I can see you have an AC unit but sometimes natural breeze is sweet.

I recommend to put a white sealer on the trailer roof. You don't want leaks after all the work your going to be doing on the inside of the trailer.
Get one of those spud bars.,then you cut peel.& together down to the areas your working at inside of your mobile trailer.
Had good luck with Carlisle from our local shop, there are not a whole lot of good trailer tire brands. But Carlisle is one and I think we got four new ones in the brakes inspected or replaced can’t remember, for about $600.
Sweet trailer. Prep it for a generator setup and run dual batteries up front for dry use. They make a nice kind of rubber floor its in a lot of toy haulers in the garage area super durable and easy to clean add in some led lights inside and you will be good to go 🤘
Those crack side panels are FRP fiberglass panels used in bathroom walls like u see in Walmart and Home Depot and is easy to replace just drill out the rivets peel the old one off with a chisel and once it starts coming off it pull’s off really easy and just buy new FRP from Home Depot along with a bucket of the glue and it is easy as cut glue and stick the new FRP on the walls and replace the rivets I did a bunch of them and it’s really easy to do
As someone who has had many trailers for my business over the last 20 years I would encourage you to never use dark walls. (Don't ask me how I know. LoL) White is truly the best. I love the way black looks but you'll regret it. It is terrible to work in those even when it's daylight. If you need to be working at 6 in the evening and it's already dark outside you'll be kicking yourself that you made it dark. The light colors, white the most, will make it so much brighter inside the trailer. Even when the lights are off. A dark floor isn't a huge deal but the walls and the ceiling you will want white. I love your channel keep it up.

Trailers even used have gotten expensive. Last summer, my 16x7 Stealth trailer got totalled during a storm. from a downed 70' Black locust tree. It could have been worse for since my truck that parked next to my trailer was shielded from any damage because my trailer saved my truck. I found out replacing my trailer was harder than I planned since at the time and money available, most new trailers that I was looking for was either sold out or twice the price range. I found a used Wells Cargo 16x8.5 trailer for the price range I could afford and I was thinking this is going to be a great replacement. What I have discovered is areodynamics of enclosed trailers play a huge role on fuel mpg. The difference between my old trailer and my replacement is about 4 to 5 mpg. The difference of empty weight is 145lbs heavier for my replacement trailer but my old trailer still had much influence on my truck mpg when it was hauling 6000 lbs load compared to my new trailer being empty. Now I am researching better enhacements that can be done to help out of increase fuel effieciecy.
Man that's a bad situation; I'm glad your truck was saved though. I noticed the MPG is worse with this trailer than the car trailer I've towed - even fully loaded it would get about 2 mpg better. I'd be interested if there are ways to improve aerodynamics as well.
@@MichaelSabo I have been comuplating if adding a camper shell to my truck would reduce the aerodynamic impact load on the front of my trailer. My old trailer was 24 degree slanted v nose trailer. This new one has a "bull nose" is almost flat still has some angle. Not that impress with that design. From some of the research that I have done, there a couple products that I am considering to look into. The first one is "teardrops" which helps reduce areodynamic drag behind the trailer and the second this is a product called "Nose Cone". I am sure if I can even use a nose cone with my trailer, but it looks like it would work with your trailer. The way I look at it, I do not see gas prices ever coming down below 3 dollars and my hobby is something I will not give up, since it is mine version of dealing with boredom and stress. If I need to spend more money to save money in the long run, thats an investment I am willing accept the risk.
Also, another great benefit having a large trailer is cost sharing when you can split the cost with a few friends on a group ride.

My dad has a trailer with a hook rack for hanging gear and open shelves for helmets. I like them a lot and you should take a look at them.
First and foremost, never skimp on tires, brakes, or axle maintenance. Grease your hub bearings regularly, especially when planning for longer trips. Depending on your axles, you might have a system that actually repacks the bearings when you pump grease into them. They're called EZ lube axles. These are better than bearing buddies because EZ Lube actually pushes the old grease out from the back side by pushing new grease in. Check it out on UA-cam If you want to video on how it works, they're great! Your next trailer should be a toy hauler camper like a Play More. That way you can stay in it and sleep in it with your quads inside lol.
I had a set of Bearing Buddies and while greasing the axles I heard a pop from behind the wheel, The grease pushed out the rear seal spewing grease everywhere. EZ Lube are a much better choice!!
@@titletownclowns1545 Yep that's a common problem for bearing buddies. I've lost count how many times I've seen trailers with bearing buddies and the seals busted out the back of them. They spray grease all over including the cars that are around the trailer going down the highway.

Man what a badass trailer. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you. With your back tailgate maybe you could do a wrap with it to cover everything or see if they make a specialty paint for that metal and repaint because no matter what you do there will be marks and paint missing taking them old stickers off.
You could do an RGB light setup. That way if you wanted to do red and blue and if you were working on something in the trailer you could do white so you can see what you’re doing. Gonna look sweet either way man!
Your brakes are probably good, just need adjusted. Make sure you have your brake controller in your pickup adjusted high enough and test for power at your wheels under braking. If so, you can usually manually activate the brakes when backing the trailer up, this adjusts the brakes out. Or you can adjust them by hand through the access hole in the backing plate.

For the stickers i would try and Apple some heat to them just to peel them off a little faster and then after that take a plastic blade and some goof off to remove the rest of the glue
Maybe you can replace or cover up the walls with FRP board. Highly durable material.

As a carpenter in small spaces keep a bright color itll make it seem bigger and for working on machines itd help to see what your doing looks sick in black though
I do the same thing in Photoshop! ... To make it easier you can do ctrl+c (copy) and then ctrl+shift+p (paste in place) to paste in place in a new layer

A really good way to get the decal to come off the paint is to spray some penetrating oil the decal first and let that sit for a while then it'll start wanting to come off.
