    Thanks, just tried these in Baja and they work better than anything I've tried. I put a small piece of tractop inside to make it fall a little slower. Shot a 97.4lb Wahoo, he came in on it.

    They also work great on shallow reef. I always carry one with me, some times on a reef dive I like to just throw it way out front and let it sink to the bottom it will attract uku, omliu, and kali all love it.

    Thanks mark! I’ve made flashers the same way but never thought to put the straight cord on it with a knot instead of a looped dyneema. I like your way better

      I’ve done that too, but myself fumbling too much to get it off and throw. It takes two hands and that extra movement can spook a fish that’s in the top 20’ of the water column 🤙🏼

    Thanks Mark, simple and very effective, it can’t better than that

    Thanks! This is the kind of real world knowledge that helps so much. I have been trying reflective metal bent with pieces of old band an a weight and it never works right. Will try this and let you know of hopefully some success. Thanks!

    Nice little set up. I bet if you glued small pieces of a pool noodle into the pipe. You could slow the rof. Maybe moving them around would also change the action. Or add some ball bearings for sound. Tweak out on em. Make a product. "Healy Hand Grenade" could work. Cheers

    Totally awesome I let my friends and other channels know you oh by the way I told Ted Nugent in his comments how awesome you are he hunts too in Michigan or Minnisota whatever tons of us hunt to manage the starvation of mostly deer anyway fishing diving surfing I told my friends Mark Healy c ax n hold his breath god knows how long comes in handy on a bad ass wave if you font her ripped apart by a reef. You are awesome in my book.

    @MarkHealy how about tying a 30’ piece of mono with a floater/bobber at the other end so it won’t sink and it’s easily retrievable?

      similar ti regular bluewater float flashers ive made them with old Christmas tinsel works well and the float makes it bob like
      squid tentacles

    Never used flashers before, but could you tie a leash to it so you could retrieve it?

    • @strikemissions
      @strikemissions  4 роки тому

      I’ve thought about it, but haven’t done it because the risk of getting tangled up with yourself or your shooting line after you take the shot is too high IMO

    Just being the devil’s advocate here... but are these picked up or just left as more plastic garbage in the ocean?

      I always try my best to retrieve them. My last big dive trip where I was throwing it multiple times a day for two weeks, I only lost one in the blue water. If I have a natural option like a disk shaped piece of dead coral or a Mother of Pearl shell I’ll use that, but they fall fast and it’s always nice to keep a couple of these in the dive bag when you don’t have access to that.
