I have to admit that this is the first time I have ever seen a person in digital marketing who is really helpful and the true expert in their field. People raving for a reason and this is Ninja stuff indeed. A breath of fresh air to my tired eyes. Have a great health human. We need your brightness.
That's super kind of you!
One of the best explanation videos for beginners. There is so much information out there, it's really hard to sift out the crap from what's valuable. I could never figure out how to evaluate the data I was seeing. You've given me a useful framework to work through. Also, while watching this video I will be experimenting with how to adapt this approach for a content creator blog that's not product based just yet. Thanks a heap!
Glad it was helpful!
This is so clear and well-structured, specially your comments on Key Words and Common Sense, so true, I've been there and nobody knows best than the one having direct contact with the client and recognizing their mood and words they use to articulate their needs.
This guy is ahead of his time, the video was posted 2 years ago but the thumbnail shows 2022.

Just in the middle of a digital marketing course and on the dreaded SEO area of the assignment. I have checked various sites, youtube channels, etc and this one just clicks at a perfect pace and excellent presentation. I will be checking all your other videos to assist my course understanding as really new to the digital marketing SEO world- Seriously under rated channel and wish you every continued success here Tim. Thanks again
Thanks for sharing, Terry. Best of luck with the digital marketing course and I hope we can turn that SEO area from 'dreaded' to 'delightful' for you :D
I was searching to on how to start with keyword. After 3 days of battle. I found you. Thanks mate. Great information.
Honestly the best video I have ever watched to explain keywords and I have watched a LOT of videos on this topic!!
Thank you!
Naw thanks! Glad it's useful :)
Thanks for your helpful video!
May I ask you that if a keyword with lots of possible intent behind it, can be informal and commercial, what can we do for it? What pages should be optimized for this keyword? Hope you see my question.
Really enjoyed the concept. You guys are putting more effort to make us understand. Appreciate.
Our pleasure!
Great video and explanation, thanks so much for sharing the knowledge!
Fantastic video, very helpful for me. Do you have any advice for a business that is only local, providing a service that comes to your home? Specifically we own a roofing and exterior restoration company. So we don't ship anything, people viewing our website outside our service area means very little to us as far potential sales go. How crazy do I go with adding city/counties to our keywords? I don't want to limit us too much with that (especially since our service area is large) but I also don't want shot in the dark keywords that are too broad.
Thank you for this video it helped me so much! This was exactly what I was looking for.
Clear, concise, simple and well done! Thank you 🥰
Glad it was helpful!
Great video thanks! Does hyphenation of words affect keywords and how they are ranked? i.e. well performing keyword isn't hyphenated but it makes sense to hyphenate in blog post. Would your keywords be found and ranked anyway? My grammar police tendencies are at loggerheads with my knowledge on SEO!
Excellent content, as always! One question for Exposure Ninja / the larger community: Is there a way to quickly categorize keywords as broad or exact? Categorizing them as informational or commercial is easy enough, but my technique to organize terms as broad vs. exact is a bit primitive and time-consuming. Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A lot to digest, but incredibly useful information to start on something.
Excellent advice, to the point, thank you!
Brilliant video, in-depth, but still easy to follow
Thank you for this awesome video. keywords are really important for improving ranking
Thanks so much for your help Sir!
Great great content, thank you very much!!! Not only clear and useful, really enjoyable to watch too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
thank you so much for the video. its easy to understand 👍🏻
and keywords definitely worked for you in this video! you were on the top of my search list!!
Boooooom
This is a very well-put-together video! It's easy to follow and understand even for beginners. Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
I have an IQ of 152. I cracked my 4th beer then said "fuck it, I'm a retired Physician.....maybe I'm just too old and not cut out for this SEO stuff...."
Utterly Baffling. Maybe there's some pre-requisite learning I've missed ??
Some great ideas here - especially around using that matrix and the gentle nudge to -not- try to aim for every single keyword you can squeeze out of ATP or SEMRush!
I really like this guy he just simply speaks my language great work man keep it up , hopefully u make more and more seo videos specifically backlink seo
Glad to hear that Ali, that's what we aim for :D Also, here's a more detailed backlinking video to get you started ua-cam.com/video/RSgYUZfXrV8/v-deo.html
I wanted to ask about content marketing. What if the audience that reads "how to do" articles and the audience that intends to order your service do not intersect? I mean, for example, those who are watching your videos and read your blog want to do seo themselves and would not order your srrvice. While those who would - they think about other questions, like "how to understand that my seo manager does not work" "how to find a good seo manager" "why i need seo" and so on
Hi, I want to create a software reviewing site, mainly reviewing design, office, and site building software, how can I know whether this is a niche or too competitive?

I have a question, if I am using short term keywords which means that they doesn't have high competition and searches, hence I will get good rank on Google between 3 to 9 months ?
This was very useful and to the point video. Thank you!

Thanks Cathy! What an honour :)
Hello, I'm unclear on the priority and priority 10 columns on the Keyword template. Could you pleas explain about what actually is entered in to those columns. Thanks for you time
Priority: Could ranking at the top of Google be achieved in the short term, medium term, etc
Priority 10: Which ten keywords should you be super-focused on?
Hey, "Tim Ninja", Can you do a complete video of what we will do as an SEO agency when a brand new client comes to us? I mean what is the roadmap and explain how to do each step. This will be a GEM video for everyone. thank you.
Defo one to consider, but I'm not sure that more than a dozen of my subscribers will find it that interesting
@@ExposureNinjayep that might be. I'm recently getting a job in SEO. I have checked on UA-cam. But there is no such video that explained that with an example. It would be great if you can. BTW thanks for the reply.
Hey mate thx a lot for the knowledge. I'd like to ask you a question. I'm a bilingual and I've found a niche that has a 58% keyword difficulty and 300k volume in the US alone! This very same niche tho in Italy has a 28% keyword difficulty but only a 18k volume. Do you reckon I should write my website in Italian or in English? Should I aim for that massive volume or that low competition? I'd really appreciate if you could give me a tip here :). Subscribed!
The long-term play is... both!
It's difficult to answer without knowing the monetisation model though.
e.g. we've helped a business rank for a term with 0 reported volume but that enabled them to have a very nice 1-person business where they sold and delivered a high-ticket service themselves. Whereas if they were relying on an affiliate model (high traffic volume), they'd have starved.
Given that you have the choice between Italy and US, I'm guessing you're not offering a physical product or service and can sell something very scalable. In which case I'd try and work out whether you thought you could realistically compete for the higher-volume US market first by analysing the content and link profiles of competitors. If you can, there's your answer. If you don't have the time or resource, then starting with .it and then moving to US once you are generating revenue could be a good way to go.
@@ExposureNinja yes, I'm doing affiliate marketing
Super helpful and thorough!
Glad it was helpful 🙇
Is there a recommended ratio of short, medium & long term keywords to prioritize?
Great question, Kris. Because you won't necessarily be actively optimising for the long-term phrases (they'll often be broader versions of your short- and medium-term ones), it doesn't really matter how many of them you're targeting.
Does that help?
Thanks a lot
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching it
This is brilliant

- Keywords are crucial for SEO and improving website rankings.
- Keywords can be broad or exact, with different levels of search volume and commercial intent.
- Google's algorithms now understand the intent behind keywords, making them even more important.
03:37 🎯 Keyword Misconceptions
- There is no definitive list of keywords, and the process is constantly evolving.
- Tools and data are useful, but common sense and brainstorming are essential for keyword research.
- Not targeting a specific keyword doesn't mean you won't rank for related topics.
04:48 🔍 Types of Keywords and Their Spectrum
- Broad and exact keywords vary in terms of specificity and search volume.
- Keywords can fall on the spectrum between informational and commercial intent.
- Understanding the different types of keywords helps in targeting the right audience.
07:44 🎯 Types of Keywords: Broad and Informational
- Broad keywords like "Range Rover" are not specific and can have different intents.
- "Range Rover" falls under the broad and informational keyword category with potential intent.
08:12 🎯 Types of Keywords: Exact and Informational
- Exact keywords like "Range Rover SVR fuel consumption" are more specific and focused on a particular model or characteristic.
- These keywords are often informational and used for research purposes rather than purchasing intent.
08:43 🎯 Types of Keywords: Exact and Commercial
- Example: "Range Rover Sport Dynamic Black Tan Leather Nottingham" is an exact and commercial keyword.
- It indicates a specific model and location, suggesting purchase intent.
09:44 🧲 Keyword Research Process Overview
- Keyword research involves brainstorming, expanding with tools, analyzing competitiveness and commercial intent, and prioritizing.
- A simple spreadsheet is provided by Exposure Ninja to assist in the keyword research process.
10:13 🧠 Brainstorming Possible Keywords

- Think about your differentiators and unique selling propositions (US) in your keywords.
- Analyze what you're already ranking for using tools like SEMrush.
14:28 💡 Brainstorming Possible Keywords with Customers
- Talk to your customers and ask them what keywords they would search for to find your business.
- Ignore the first answer and keep asking for more potential keywords.
- Dig into your customers' psyches to discover basic, common search terms.
15:56 💡 Expanding Keywords with Tools (SEMrush)

18:50 💡 Crunching the Numbers for Keyword Research
- Look at keyword search volumes and CPC (cost per click) as metrics.
- Don't solely focus on high search volume keywords, as they may lack commercial intent.
- Prioritize specific keywords with clear commercial intent and consider relevance and CPC.
21:40 🎯 Prioritizing Keywords for Short, Medium, and Long Term
- Prioritize keywords based on their commercial intent, search volume, CPC, and relevance.
- Short-term keywords: Immediate targets for ranking improvement (3-9 months), healthy CPC, lower search volume, and high relevance.
- Medium-term keywords: Higher search volume, higher CPC, more competition, targeting over 6-18 months.
- Long-term keywords: Most competitive, broader and shorter-tail phrases, potential for informational content, CPC can be low or high, targeting over 12+ months.
24:05 💼 Targeting Specific and Broad Keywords for Ranking Improvement
- Focus on specific keywords initially to improve ranking for broader and longer-term keywords over time.
- Utilize knowledge base content to target informational searches and improve ranking for relevant long-term keywords.
- Consider variations and guides related to broader keywords to indirectly target them while improving ranking for specific keywords.

Well performing keyword isn't hyphenated but it makes sense to hyphenate in blog post.
More than anything else, focus on what people are typing into search, rather than how a hyphen might be interpretted by Google/Googlebot

Trying to follow a thread on this content and I am completely bamboozled. You are obviously an expert, however, this sounds like you are answering an exam question 'Do a brain dump on everything you know about keyword SEO in 25 minutes.'
The problem is the lay person is not an examiner. As with answering exam questions, it would be massively assisted if your punctuated yourself with sentences and paragraphs pausing as appropriate. And lastly, don't take this the wrong way, but it is really irritating pronouncing the word 'to' as 't'. BBC types and indeed Boris Johnson have the same habit - are you an elitist ?
