  • The ceremony took place in Konya’s Mevlânâ Cultural Center (Mevlânâ Kültür Merkezi) which is about one kilometer east of the Mevlânâ Museum, past the Üçler Mezarlığı(cemetery). Cultural centre is the world’s grandest and modern whirling dervish hall.
It was built to honor Mevlânâ Jelaleddin Rumî and his Mevlevi (Whirling) Dervishes. The Centre has a huge Sema Hall and smaller spaces for other dervish-related and cultural activities
Sema is widely known as sufi/darvesh dance which is a must see when in Konya (Turkey). The swirling dervish are said to be dancing in remembrance of the divine. Sema means listening. It is a type of meditation performed by Sufi's when they are intoxicated by love of the divine power. The ceremony will leave you mesmerized and in awe of the energy.
