Our daughter has a piggy called pepper, she was passed on to us via a friend. We are planning to get her a companion, until we do we are giving pepper .Plenty of floor time and also , time with us all in the living room.Yes she is spoilt lol but , she is worth it.We did not realise how friendly and adorable they were. Pepper is very much loved and your videos are , a good resource for ideas and general care .Well done and thank you.

Probably because she used cotton for the top instead of fleece and cotton mesh instead of something absorbent. Cotton retains water and so does not keep the piggies dry.

I LOVE your DIY project tutorials for GPs because the way you explain the process/instruction is very simple and easy to follow. By watching your tutorial I've sewed several hammocks for my GPs.

2 of your piggies look my my piggies cupcake and berry I just got them 4 days ago they are settling so well and they popcorn slot and play with each other and eat a ton (they are still pretty young and females) I'll be using this for sure!
I'd love to make my own cavies some fluffy bedding and general improvements to their housing, but it's difficult to find the right materials for these items. Would you mind telling me where you get all the materials for this hammock? I'm quite confident in your ability to pick out something safe for my piggies.
Hobby lobby, or Michaels or Joannes all have great fabrics for this-any fleece is safe for piggies as well as 100% cottons 🫶
Me and my brother had 2 hamsters who recently passed of old age and natural causes that was like a month or two ago we had two gerbils before that and we are allowed to get/are getting two Guinea pigs next week when we come back from vacation so I am watching a lot of videos on care and stuff so I know exactly what to da and I will definitely make this hammock diy thanks
where do u find ur bedding the cotton one because when i search up pure cotton bedding it comes up with the cotton fabric but im looking for the bedding

@@tamrem6343 that's why you turn it inside out, so no hot-glue is showing. Cold wash and hang dry only

What are the 4 attachments you have anchored to the cage the you put the 4 fabric loops on? Are they really big screws? Drawer knobs?

what are you using to hold the hammock in place?
I simply must make this for my guinnies, sadly my cage setup doesn't have a place to secure the hammock on all four corners so I will have to find a way to modify it a bit ^^ thank you for the inspiration!

You can sew it by hand too! I sewed a cuddle cup and hammock by hand. The sewing machine is a tad neater tho
I think sewing by hand takes SO long, but if you dont have a sewing machine you'll have to. i bought my sewing machine for only $20.
my guinea pig lives is a cage. should I put the hammock in or out of it?
Crystal Wolf / Faith Frost same. And my guinea pigs LITERALLY don't even move or run around in the house. We leave them in the tray, but we take the cage off. 😂 lol

I wish I had that many guinea pigs! My guinea pig's name is Clover and thank you for telling me to get guinea pigs partners I will get Clover a partner! Also a bigger cage cause her cage is super small. :c
what can be used to replace the batting? is an old towel ok?
Unicycle240 the only reason she is using batting is because she chose cotton for part of the piece. If you used two pieces of fleece, you wouldn’t need the support. If you want to use cotton and don’t have access to batting, I would just double the fleece layer and you’ll be absolutely fine and have a very sturdy hammock.

Hey, I was wondering if you could help with a few questions. So we got a female Guinea pig who was 8 weeks old at the time, (was born in October) is it ok that we only have the one guinea pig? Because I know they are very social animals and suffer from depression when they are on their own and everything always says that you should always have 2+. Also, I assume it would be better to get another female correct?
I would also like to say that since we have had her we haven't got her hay, this is because the packaged hay we bought had mites which wasn't good and we ended up getting her sorted out, but is it ok that she doesn't have any hay?
No, Guinea pigs need hay constantly. They need it to (I may be wrong about one of these things) keep their teeth from growing too much and maintain their digestive system, however (a bit unsure about this, I apologize) you may be able to use grass as a substitute.
Can I use old clothes to make the hammock?
yes, i made 1 of these for my piggies, and used an old polar fleece jacket! and it worked great too!

My guinea pigs won't use the hammock I bought them. I made sure they can easily hop in it and I havr put food in the hammock but they just take the food out and leave.
