Paracord Handle On A Walking Stick

  • Quick and simple technique for wrapping a paracord handle onto... almost anything.
    Note that if you cannot wrap loops over the end of your work piece to create the half-hitches as I do here, it is almost as easy to cut the cord to an estimated length and tie individual half-hitches, wrapping the cord around the work piece as you go.

    Thanks! That is beautiful. Thank you so much for the animatedknots site! What a treasure trove! :D I wrapped a roosting perch for my chicken coop with manilla rope and needed to know how to tie it off. I ended up using an Icicle Hitch. So grateful I came across your video!

    Great video! Thanks for uploading. I finished doing this to my fiancee's hiking stick based on your video. Instead of the perfection knot/loop at the end, I finished it off with a clove hitch. Instead of beeswax, I applied glue to keep everything in place. Very pleased with the end results and will be doing this on my hiking stick in the near future.

      What Is Islam?
      Islam is not just another religion.
      It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham.
      Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God.
      It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone.
      It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine.
      The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as:
      { “Say, He is God, the One. God, the Absolute. He does not give birth, nor was He born, and there is nothing like Him.”} (Quran 112:1-4)
      Becoming a Muslim is not turning your back to Jesus.
      Rather it’s going back to the original teachings of Jesus and obeying him

    I liked the comment on John Barleycorn. It made me look it up, and I am learned something else besides paracord wrapping.
    That aside, this is the easiest video to follow. Thanks for the assist.

    Tried this on a landing net handle with some duck decoy cord. It worked well but it should be noted that you need to tighten each loop with the same force so that the spiral design stays uniform.Otherwise it comes out wth long and short braids.

    Was it the beeswax or the boiling water that made it shrink??? I'd say it was the boiling water. Kinda like shrinking and hardening leather.. Pour boiling water on it and it'll tighten up and go rock hard...

    • @madurobob
      @madurobob  6 років тому

      No doubt a combination of the two. Many a cuir bouilli recipe for leather calls for beeswax instead of water since impregnating the leather with wax helps make it water resistant while providing some lubrication.

    You didn't explain how the four outer rows were tied or incorporated into the design.

    • @madurobob
      @madurobob  6 років тому +2

      Hi Emory - do you mean the spiral bit part? That happens automatically as you continue to add loops the handle. each loop creates a little bump where the paracord crosses over itself, and each loop's bump is slightly offset from the previous one, so that line of bumps spirals up the handle.

    I was really hoping you did this video again only a bit slower and keeping what you are doing in site of the camera . We were not able to really see how you did the beginning or the end because it kept going out of frame . Thanks in advance!!

    • @madurobob
      @madurobob  6 років тому +3

      Sorry about that! The beginning is a simple clove hitch - just like this: www.animatedknots.com/cloveend/index.php
      The end is really just tying a loop on the end of the cord. I used a "Perfection Loop" in the video: www.animatedknots.com/perfection/index.php
      But, you can use a wide variety of different loops to make a handle. I hope that helps!

    How do you get the little design on the wrap?

    • @madurobob
      @madurobob  4 роки тому +1

      Hopefully thats what the video shows you - wrap once around, make an overhand knot, wrap again, make another knot, etc... As you go, it naturally makes a spiral design becuase of teh way the knots fit together.

  • @erroldawdy3637
