You nailed it. Most UA-camrs talk as if everyone is editing videos or compiling code for a living and miss the big point. >95% users are not in this group. Your review makes complete sense
Best reviews ever! So straight to the point without all the nonsense🎉 As a professional artist, you nailed it as a device that can handle your homework. You also hit it out with the “prosumer” tag.
Other than wanting a larger screen; I'm happy with my 2020 M1.
My both M18 air and mini are best for the office work and light vide editing for corporate training stuff.
Amazing devices
Very much agreed, I am an IOS developer and I have a 2020 macbook pro m1, it has handled everything I wanted to do without any problems, the only thing I miss is a bigger screen, but that rarely happens because I usually have it hooked up to a 24inch display.
2020 M1 is god, large battery, excellent display and M1 is a beast!
@@alihodroj9559 do u have the model with 16gb ram ? I bought a m1 air base model last year, because I needed a cheap and good Laptop for school. I didn't believe that I would fall in love with this device as much as I now do. I'm trying to study cs now and Im not sure if the 8gb unified memory is enough for me now.
Is the 2020 M1 capable of running multiple programs at once 2-3?
I have to say, the editing on this video is phenomenal! Like, incredibly smooth with the essence of the video itself
Love it
Gave my baseline spec M1 MBA to my mom and got myself a 15” MBA with 1 TB SSD and 16 GB RAM. Love it! She’s very happy with the M1 and I found my way to slide into a 15” M2. Everyone wins!
I recently purchased the M2 MacBook Air 15 inch in starlight for college and I love this laptop I will not be upgrading for awhile 😊
15” MacBook Air is the bomb! I sold my 16” Pro it was way too heavy. This machine hits the sweet spot in size and weight.
The 15 AIR is such an underdog! The base M2 is so powerful and meets a lot more needs than people think. Not to mention it blows the previous intel chips in the pros out of the water! People assume they need the pro but they really don't M2 can handle SO much. I ditched the 14 inch pro for the 15 inch air and couldn't be happier. I love this form factor so much more!! I just wish it had promotion.
I also traded in my MacBook 14” pro for the 15” Air M2 as well and I was honestly worried that I made a huge mistake after watching all the videos crapping on the Air 15 but I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s all that i could ever need with the 16gb/513 configuration. I know I could have stayed with a better machine in the MacBook Pro 14” for not much more but i really wanted this new form factor and so far it’s working out just fine 😊
Does it support Dolby vision and hdr?
The base model good enough for video editing? I’ll like to learn to edit for tik tok and light UA-cam video, say 15 to 30 minutes long
@@lethyguaimareWould totally blaze through stuff like that. I have a friend who creates instagram content for an agency (graphic design and light video work) and she's working exclusively on an M1 Air, not even the M2. But bump up the ram and storage to however much you can afford to future proof the machine.
If you traded a 14inch pro for the 15 air then you didn’t need a 14 inch in the first place…
The m1 MacBook Pro and air were so good that most people didn’t and don’t need more. I had the M1 Pro until I got the 14 inch m2 and it’s so much better for my workflow, having the 16gb ram and a good display, just everything about the 14inch is perfect for me, plus having the hdmi port is amazing, whenever I used a type c dock, my monitor would flicker, I’m sure if you bought a super expensive dock that be fine but I tried a few cheaper and more expensive ones and still wasn’t great, but the expensive once I got were adapters not docks anyways.
I’m thinking about finally getting a MacBook 💻 and this video drops in perfect time.
I am loving my MacBook Air 13" with the m1....going to have this till it dies. So happy with my purchase several years ago. Love the vids Judd!!
I've had mine a couple months. Love how thin it is and how capable.
My Mac Pro in a 2016 and no longer updates… Thank you for this review! I am a medical student so tons of computer work but no editing or things like that! I am not tech savvy and want to see if id lose anything that I am use to on my laptop. This review was to the point and awesome! Thank you!
nice and simple video: honest , visually good, no beating around the bush: i am on the same boat: i barely use my 16inch anymore, just because the 15 gets taken everywhere around the house and on the go, pairs wirelessly with the studio display its just great
Been using the 2020 base model M1 Air, and I am still in love with it. All the usual productivity stuff, a bit of creative work (davinci, garage band) and also coding (c# using vs code). Couldn’t be happier
I did have a 14” max with 24 gpu cores which was spectacular for the video work though, especially when using fusion. So I can definitely see why a professional videographer would want the gpu power.
I upgraded from MacBook Pro early 2013 Retina Display to MacBook Air 15inch with 16GB RAM + 1TB. Totally totally no regret!
This was great, I just bought mine a few days ago so I don't have much of a review yet but based on my research even as a seasoned pro (graphic and web designer) this was just right for me as I just wanted a portable option to compliment my iMac. My previous portable option was a Macbook Pro thought. When I'm ready to splurge I would consider the 14" Pro because I find the 16 way to thick and heavy lol Thanks for such a great and balanced review.
have the 13" macbook air m2. loaded up with 1TB drive 16GB ram, even opted for 10-core chip. completely prefer this over my work macbook m1 max. yes that is great, but with small compromise in power, i get incredible portability and i'm in love with the reduction in weight, with an incredible design. pretty much the lowest-end laptops like the macbook air m1 are merely great, then they scale to really great then insanely great. what a time to be an apple laptop enthusiast.
As someone with a vision impairment, I got this because it’s nice not having to shell out $2000+ for a bigger screen. Plus I love the new function row key size. I have a Magic Keyboard with my work computer with the larger function row. It took me a while to get used to it, but now the older style keyboard function row and Touch ID feel cramped.
Longtime windows user due to work that decided to get a Mac for personal use and my new business. I have the 15" with 16gbs of storage and love this machine. I decided to go with apple due to the use of the silicon and battery life. I love that I can use this off cord with no difference in performance, unlike pcs at time. The battery life is great and the sound quality compared to pcs has been great.
Thanks for the review! I've had my 15'' MacBook Pro since 2011 and it's FINALLY slowing down. Both bummed about it but stoked for an upgrade! The 15 Air sounds like a good fit for me! :)
I have a 2020 m1 MacBook pro. I love the design of the newer laptops but in terms of power and battery life I'm all set. Even with the base model I've never had an issue with anything.
I just bought one of these 2 weeks ago (my first Mac) and I love it. Ima simple user, mostly knocks and sites so I won’t push it very far, it it feels really good, camera really sharp for video calls, battery lasts a really long time. I’m a fan.
Midnight is a fingerprint magnet though.
I still have my Macbook Pro M1 2020 and its been good to me these few years no complaints
Good to hear, I just got myself one too. Nice video man 💯
Been waiting for this one
I love this MacBook Air 15! Big screens for the win! ❤️
The best and most honest review of the 15 inch macbook air ever. Most people don't need a pro model. Thanks for your great review.
Nice video , grabbing one of these for university for my final year ! Going to keep her for a couple of years then upgrade
I got myself the 15 Air with 24GB RAM and 256 SSD, the reason why I went with the configuration is cause I use a gaming monitor as a 2nd Monitor display which can use significant energy when I have 2 windows open on an browser so that extra RAM is very useful and there is NO alternatives for extra ram while I do have a 5TB external hard drive which there is many alternatives and having a bigger screen on the MacBook Air for less then 2000 bucks is just insane value. I was thinking at a Pro version at first but just to have the 14 M2 Pro is already 2000 bucks + tax and I don’t really need the HDMI port since I already have a USB Hub, overall I love the portability of the MacBook Air 15 and upgrading it from my Intel 2020 MacBook Air is a huge Win for me! Especially adding the Educational Pricing Discount!
Just got this laptop in silver gray, it's absolutely amazing. Also, amazing video, +1 like from me!
It's great how the transition from Intel to Apple silicon went smoother than I expected. I don't hear complaints about apps crashing with Apple M cpus.
MacBook air m1 here and still going just as good. Battery life has gone down to only on one day but it is still good and no need to upgrade
Been using it for a few weeks now and I gotta say it's the best non pro MacBook Apple has made. It's the perfect blend of everything. Huge screen, brilliant keyboard, outstanding trackpad, very light. I couldn't ask for a better laptop/MacBook
what pro is the best? mbp m3 max 16 inch?
I am using a Macbook Air 13" with M2 since August 2022, the best machine ever. No need for changes/upgrading
I have an M1 Air and still feel happy about it. Since I am working in field sales, always on the move working style is a must.
A “cheap”, snappy, long lasting battery life, auto connect to 4g on my iPhone, auto share the screen with my ipad is a champ to me. I only need to check mail, web browsing, reading & making report, mostly using MSOffice…M1 is a champ. Even with 8gb ram, with swap memory, It’s work like a hmmm…~13gb ram window laptop. I drop the Latitude with 16gb ram that Unilever Gave me at home :)). Just a tad less Multitasking but I got the speed that smoke the 16gb I5 dell when using Exel and I got amazing battery life, better looking screen, better speaker….
The only reget is i haven’t bought it sooner.
Not to mention when I got home and docking it. OMG it’s amazing. With a 4K monitor, and wireless keyboard&mouse&speaker, you have another Imac at home.
Excellent video. I have the M1 MacBook Air right now and am considering upgrading to the M2 but of course I don't really NEED to...I mainly want the larger screen and sexy new design!
Got my 15" Air replacing my 27" 2019 iMac as my main graphic design Mac. Got it hooked up to a 27" 4K monitor when at my desk, runs Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop like a beast, far out pacing my iMac, just made sure I had the memory upgraded to 16GB.
How the thermals when working? Do you have any regrets? I have a maxed out 27" 2017 iMac and just bought a M1 air 16gb 500 ssd and think about selling both and getting a maxed out M2 15 air. Any helpful thoughts or opinions?
Apple M1 and M2 have changed the game for Apple in a big way. I've never liked Apple computers because of the inefficiency and lack of performance, especially for what they cost. I've always built my own PC. But now, Apple is 180 degrees different, and for the better. I now have an M1 Mac Mini, and a M2 15 inch Macbook Air, and have not regretted either one. I don't see an upgrade for quite some time
Owner of a late 2020 m1 MacBook air, and honestly it's amazing. battery life still lasts me two days with no charge, I'm going to look at deals during black friday but this can definitely last me at least until the M3 MacBooks next year.
My 16 inch M1 MacBook Pro 2021, has been doing good by me. I frequently edit a lot of videos as well as make music while simultaneously having many browsers and tabs open. I feel no need to upgrade yet
I have 13” M2 Air with 16GB unified memory 512GB ssd and besides the fact it doesn’t fact that it doesn’t have the best display I’m loving it
i went back and forth between MBA and MBP, ultimately deciding that MBA met my needs, and i liked the 15” MBA form factor more than the larger/smaller MBP
The macbook pro really isnt thick tho, almost feels perfect sized
@@jxpt8935 yea i decided to return the 15” MBA. it wound up feeling too big. so i went with a 14” MBP M2 which best buy had on sale
I have a 14inch Mac book pro (M1) for music production and it’s perfect still, love your content bro 🔥🔥
Hi, nice to see your reviews.
I've been using a 16-inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro since January 2022 and I've had no desire to upgrade at all. In fact, I see this laptop lasting past the four years that my old early 2011 17-inch MacBook Pro did.
I love my M2 MacBook Pro, but the 15” looks great too. If they had these out when I bought my Pro I may have gone for it
I bought the 13’ m2 air. I couldn’t agree more. Totally worth it for ave consumer. I moved up from a 2015 mbp 😅.
My personal laptop is a 13inch M2 air and then my work laptop is a 15inch m2 air, I like the 15inch for work because of all the spreadsheets and long emails I have to write
I'm doing something similar: 16" M1 Pro MBP (with shell that weighs 1 lb.!) to maxed out 13" MacBook Air (and no shell), for all that portability goodness while traveling.
Great review. My favorite features are the 2888x1864 screen res and magsafe charger allowing both usb-c ports to be free.
I JUST bought the 16-inch M2 Pro MacBook Pro, coming from an i7 2017 MacBook Pro. The upgrades in battery life and speed are insanely good. My only complaint is the weight, but it's definitely a solid machine that I will be using for a while!
Welcome to the club! 😘😘
I just got one of these for school and I love the 15” size. It is surprisingly light and very thin!
8gb or 16 ram?
@@Dr2m 8!
@@hunterbsmith do you recommend me to purchase 8 or go for 16
@@Dr2m If you’re only doing casual work, 8 should be plenty. If you think you’ll be doing a lot of demanding things with lots of tabs/apps open, or if you want to keep the computer for a long time (4+ years) then get 16!
Chose between base models - 1700$ MBP 16 M1 Pro 16/512 and 1300$ MBA 15 M2 8/256. To be honest, it wasnt too hard to choose MBP 16 M1 Pro: better battery life, faster SSD, better screen, better mics, better speakers and 16gb RAM is so needed in 2023 no matter what you do with your machine. I had the only argument that MBA 15 is slimmer and more portable. And ofc, MBP 16 is a bit heavy, though I got used to its weight after a week. And its slim enough for me!
Perfect! I decid to use mac air m2 15`and it was the best opction for me too. Im an actor
I'm in the same boat. I've had my 2021 16" M1 Pro since new and love it, used it for both my work (software engineer) and home life, but a couple of months back decided to purchase a 15" MacBook Air for my work to separate them out. I don't need crazy powerful graphics for what I do, and the M2 is a very powerful CPU and more than enough for me. I thought the screen being LCD rather than Mini LED, the smaller speakers, and 60hz screen would be a downgrade, but you really don't notice it. The screen feels just as good and I don't even notice the refresh rate difference, only when they're side-by-side, in a dark room, with a dark video playing do you notice the black-level difference. As for the speakers, yes the 16" ones are much better, but the 15" Air speakers are still better than 99% of laptops and more than good enough.
Performance-wise I'm yet to notice a difference, both are instant, snappy, and compile what I need it to in a moment. For me the battery on the 15" Air is far better, a good 50% more than my 16" Pro, and the weight/lightness makes it incredible to use on your lap, I do think its a better overall device for 95%+ of people.
I got the 14in M1 Pro and don’t see a need to upgrade anytime soon. I feel like it’s more powerful than my actual needs are. I probably would have gotten the 15in air if it was out back then
just got mine for my phd program and I already love it, coming from a MBP 2017, and the butterfly keyboard stopped working and I didn't qualify for the replacement program, but that's fine cause I love this so much more and the screen size is awesome.
The Air lineup is doing good
nice review!
Cool on break this down and don’t mind getting one of those.
Still happy with my m1 MacBook Air after multiple years. I’ve never been so happy with a Mac. I will run it until it doesn’t get software updates.
I have an M1Pro 14" And I'm very happy with it. I think my next upgrage will be intheir next redesign of the Pro models.
After transitioning to Apple silicone I don't see my needing nor wanting to upgrade to a newer computer anytime soon because the power and speed this thing gives off is just like breathing. I don't have to think about it at all and it just does what it does with a quickness. Then again I do have the 16 inch M1 Max version lol but hey this thing still is insane.
September 2023 - I'm still rocking the M1 MacBook Air. Larger screen not required because I love the portability, and at home its plugged into my monitor anyway. Base model .... I'd definitely need more storage if I didn't pay for the 2TB storage from iCloud, however the 8GB RAM and faster swap memory than the M2 does me absolutely fine!
I think if I do upgrade, it will be for the new 13 inch M3 Macbook Air, which I believe is coming with 12GB RAM base model, which is fine. I think I'll probably upgrade the storage to 1TB though, for longevity.
Big thing I do not like about the 15 inch is you have to rest your hands on the laptop itself to type. Feels weird typing. The keyboard is too far away from the edge.
The only wish I have for the Mack book air is pro motion and 500gb ssd for the base model. It already has enough power for even pro users
what a good vibe while watching this video with a Macbook air m2 15
If this is your first MacBook like me. The the MacBook Air is awesome!
love the gundam sticker!
I'm packing an M1 Macbook Air - base model. Nope, I have no 'need' to upgrade, but I've always been a bit of a geek, so I'm interested in the M3 chips. Will upgrade if M3 offers ray tracing and can handle games.
2:07 I call it Champaign gold
Nice video. As always. I’m still rocking my 14 inch MacBook Pro M1 Pro. It’s going to be a couple of years before I even think about upgrading.
that is an absolutely great computer. the only distraction is that apple keeps producing great computers, it's a great time to be into laptops
I want to upgrade but can't find a reason 2. I have the M1 MacBook Air. I still use it daily and I love it
The 15” air is a serious contender for the replacement of my aging i9 2019 15” MBP. It’s faster in the majority of work flows, total silent, and has impressive battery life. However, I still feel as tho ProMotion is the killer feature on the pro.
Honestly I don’t think the promotion is worth it. Yes it is better and noticeable, but I traded in a Pro 14 inch m2 myself for a base model m2 15 and it’s so much better in every other way that it’s totally worth it. Imo the 15 inch air M2 is the best laptop Apple has ever made and yes thats a big claim.
Love my MacBook Air 13 in m2 sliver 16GB 1TB for my DJING career
I recently upgraded to a 14 inch MacBook Pro with the m2 max chip and I don’t feel any need to upgrade again for a long time. My MacBook Pro has been absolutely flawless so far and I love doing schoolwork, editing videos for my church, and surfing the web on it!
if you get the 14 inch M2 pro chip would be better than the M2 Max which should go with 16 inch to meet the larger screen, but since you get the latest and one of the most powerful products I think it can last a really long time
Kudos and prayers of blessings for your serving in church and community
got m1 macbook pro and air. Im happy with them wish the screen was bigger but i can dock them and run them off my sweet monitor...
I tried the Air 15” for a week or so and returned it. Ive got a iPad Pro M2 11” with magic keyboard, and it works great for me. Although i do have an itch for a MBP 14” For the display and better speakers.and battery life. Although, i just dont knw if i can do without touch screen. They need to have them, just my opinion.
This is the perfectachine if you already have a beast gaming pc back home.
Apple should have retained the clean design of the 2019 MacBook Pros while adding 4 or 5 Thunderbolt ports to each side for enhanced productivity and flexibility. I don't find the touchbars beneficial for productivity, so I'm fine with their removal in favor of regular keys. I like the thinner bezels and don't mind the notch. In addition, I believe Apple should have included both Face ID and a fingerprint reader in the MacBook Pros for user flexibility.
Still rocking a MBA M1 laptop. Performance wise for what I do (personal use) don't see the need at all. Have a couple slight monitor defects (one from a drop, the other from my nephew kicking not on purpose), it's still working great. Only thing when I hook up to a monitor, I'd like 10GB Ethernet. You guys got any USB-C 10GB Ethernet Adapters working well for you? If this meets your needs, that's impressive. Good video as always!
Battery King, Easily work 2 days or 16 hours on single charge, I charged the laptop to 100% at 10.00PM, then closed the lid without turning it off, then on next day morning at 11.00AM I started working on website development with 50% brightness [ no music etc. running in background ], then stopped for 2 hours from 4.00PM to 6.00PM again closed the lid didn't turn off, then again worked from 6.00PM to 9.00PM, and closed the lid with 55% battery left, then on next day again started work again at 11.00AM with same schedule and at 7.00PM battery was at 10% plugged the charger by the time I am done working battery was again at 100%
Ever since I got the M1 iPad Pro I stopped using my 2019 Air. The iPad with the keyboard does all I need
I don’t want to say that I love this laptop.. But it’s true I love this laptop. It’s everything I wanted in the MacBook Air. I remember back in my late 20’s I got the white 13 inch MacBook, it was great. I loved the 13 inch screen. With the exception of my company-issued laptops all of my personal laptops (Windows and Mac) ever since have been 13 inches. Now that I’m in my mid 40’s I hate the 13 inch screens. I share a M1 Air with my teenage and I just don’t like using it because it’s just to small. I held off on buying 13 inch M2 because of the rumors that a 15 inch was coming. I’m really glad I did, I love this laptop. The size of the screen makes all the difference. Having the extra real estate transforms the whole experience. I know this screen is not as good as the MacBook Pro but it’s awesome that I didn’t have to pay for a MacBook pro to get a bigger screen. I picked up the base model and it’s perfectly fine. It’s cool and silent and packs a punch. The battery life is crazy, I don’t know how long it last but it’s definitely several days. I would have liked to get more RAM but I’m one of those folks that is really offended by what Apple changes for RAM. If this was my only machine I would have sprung for the extra RAM. It’s not my main machine so it really doesn’t bother me. If I need to do any real heavy lifting then I use my M1 Studio. My only gripe is I wish they would have put a USB-C port on the right side of the laptop. It would have been nice to be able to charge from either side of the laptop. All in all this is a fantastic laptop and I’d recommend it to almost anyone
Nice overview.
I’m about to pull the trigger on one of these, coming from an IPad Pro M1.
I just bought the 15 inch m2 refurbed from Apple for $1019 I felt it was the perfect price for the display size because I didn’t want to sacrifice the size to pay less nor did I want to pay more for the newer model and get a smaller size. If there was an m1 model that was 15 inches I would’ve bought that.
I'm still using my MacBook Air M1 and it haves more than enough power for my needs, so not thinking of upgrading.
That gundam sticker me approved too😂
Respect to the God Gundam or Burning Gundam sticker of the back of the laptop. It looks sick
Where can you get a Sticker Like This ?
Noti gang always first 💪
I edit all of my long ass 4K videos on an M1 MacBook Air. It’s fine.
Where did you get that Gundam decal. If I could get a Heavy Arms decal I would throw my paper at it quick.
My M1 MacBook Air is still going strong for me!!!
I bought the 2021 16”MBP because there wasn’t a 15” Air option at the time… I’m 67 and my eyes aren’t as good as they used to be and I needed the bigger screen. If I could sell my base model for $2K I would sell it and get the 15” Air with 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD… I carry 2 laptops for work, but I would gladly loose the 2lbs…
This is honestly the go to option for me. As it fits my needs… the price point is a different story… I wished they had a MacBook for around $750 for the least.
You can pick up an M1 MBA for about 750.
For those wondering what Apple Watch Ultra band he is repping its is the "Spigen DuraPro Armor" Thank me later!
June already?! Geez! I also “downgraded” from my M1 Max 16” Pro w/ 64 GB RAM
🙏🏾 really appreciate the advice for the 15” MacBook book, wanting to would it carry out my video editing task short to medium videos?
I have an apple silicon laptop and I definitely don’t feel the need to upgrade for many many years
i like the new mac book black
