When it comes to a song the words are already set and you are more focused on the melody than pronunciation because there a lot of ways that words are sung that don’t really make any sense for speaking them. “I want it that way” in the song technically becomes something like “I~ wan~ tit tha~ dway.” One of the things that was fun here is that Suisei pronounces the R in “fire” with her tongue farther back in her mouth than the song requires. Ironically what the song uses is closer to the Japanese R-sound which is more in the middle of the mouth. It’s also technically not incorrect to pronounce it in the song as “fai-ya” which would go well with how she sing “desire” as “dee-zai-ya”
I mean I could sing a number of Japanese songs pretty well before ever studying the language, and I’m far from the only one. I’d imagine most people here can say the same. I’m no expert, but I imagine having to pay so much attention to pitch and rhythm to replicate a song properly makes it easier to mimic convincingly than casual speech. It doesn’t require any familiarity with the language the way speaking properly does.
The phonetics of Spanish and Japanese are almost the same so yeah when they both get to a certain level of English the accent sound close with each other

I also think she sang this a bit out of her comfortable range, and if she sang a version that was transposed up a notch, most if not all of the pitch inconsistencies would go away. Not that I’m complaining, low timbre Suisei sounds amazing.

I can't get over the fact that she's so extremely good at karaoke. Most hololive girls are really decent and only make really minor mistakes at karaoke only perfectly controlling their voices while on studio where they can do it more easily (like Towa that ascends from Angel to Goddess on studio). But SUISEI!!! She's so freaking good even on Karaoke, I feel like she's the closest there is to a professional singer on hololive ngl. I don't know much about AZKI though... But I'm not talking about Idol level of singing, but professional level of singing. Not being disrespectful or anything, because Idols have to do a lot more than being good at singing, but I feel like they can get there without being insane at singing.

I cannot express how angry I am that I just found this cover. Suisei brought my favorite early 2000's boyband song to such another level that it infuriates me. This was unrealistically good.
For someone "not very good" at English, she sang that near perfectly. Her accent got in the way for some words, but it was still incredibly good and she didn't actually get any of the words wrong. As for her singing in general on this one, I'm not sure I could be surprised, this is Suisei we're talking about, one of the best singers in the entire group, all branches included.

Japan only really types out the first 4 numbers before using the words they have for "thousand", "ten thousand" etc. So that's how the translator interpreted "100万" when translating to english, even though we don't really type out numbers that way. The number she said was one hundred ten thousand, basically, and in Japan they don't have a word for "million" which is strange to us.
