What a beautiful story and Tammi Arender, whoa she's a Gorgeous women xo. Feel her genuine smile and speech when old mate finishes that song. Hi from Australia.
I would totally do this. I would also build a cockpit simulator in the cockpit and place a curved projector screen outside the cockpit windows. and play flight simulator all day in a real aircraft. That's the dream... :)
Depends, if you have a buddy with a plane hauling service that owes you a huge favor, it might not have cost much at all. BUT in any case, if he got the plane cheap it sure looks like it's going to be one hell of a big house in the end! Pennies on the dollar really.
I am actually in the process of getting an old Convair jet liner. I have a friend that owns a crane business, and another one with over sized / extremely large low-boy flat bed semis. This is exactly what I am planning on doing with it.
It sure pays to have friends in the right places don't it? Good job on getting the Convair, are we talking the 880? Very fine looking plane if so. Hope you have good luck with it in any case.
Yes, this story needs a magic element, like, "the plane was still flew so I landed it in this remote forest with little trouble, at night actually". One of those military helicopters could pick up pieces of it. A dirigible perhaps? There are more in the Nevada desert. Musk would figure out a way to get it out of there that no one else would think of. If you planned the move at night, you could probably 'lift' one and they wouldn't notice it missing there are so many out there. How hard would it be to make one float?
it's a marvelous story ! My impression of that is - only to the external look - the "broken - or cutted nose" is not esthetical. I know there was a place for instrumentations, but, why not to build a "false nose" by PVC, glass fiber or whatelse ! It would be much more pretty.
Gloria Salsman you never know, you might can get lucky and find a good deal in an airplane graveyard or something, personally I would rather fix up a cargo container, they ain't exactly cheap, but it would be cheaper than an airplane, and you know exactly what your buying
There is another plane home in the US. If he’s still there Bruce Campbell built his home in the woods near Portland Oregon out of a 727. But his is nowhere near as nice as this one!
Miss you Grandpa. I was shocked to see the plane you took me to jump out of for my birthday on this video. I won't forget staying at your plane when my dad brought our family to visit. I won't ever forget listening to you play. See you when it's my turn to come to the other side. I love you Grandpa.
How beautiful the day u dont want it can i have it so i can leave there with my only daughter...I love airplane always wanted to be a pilot but my parents couldn't afford my classes.
That doesn’t really appeal to me. You’ll be sleeping at airports if you made a flying mobile home out of an airplane. They’re noisy, so good luck getting those all important 8 hours. Also, in the wake of 9/11, many airports might see your prolonged presence as a security threat.
You can find it, yes. He has his exact address posted on his website for people interested in visits. Look for SW Holly Hill Rd west of Portland, in Oregon. You'll see it about halfway down the length of the road.
It wouldn't need to if he had a permanent structure off to the side that had running water, power, etc that acted as his official residence in which the airliner pulled resources from. The loophole would be that the plane is either decor or a "clubhouse" of sorts. Same situation as a kid's tree house.
Has to be the best decor in a liveable plane i've seen so far.
@Lloyd Gittens Possibly,he may have put insulation in the walls.
@Rebecca Buschhorn Thanks Rebecca, it's awesome!!!
Ms. Buschhorn But that plane was turned into an hotel, not a house.
This one's cool ua-cam.com/video/bdwLlI9abgU/v-deo.html
As a pilot myself I'm jealous! I could so live in one of these!
I like this guy! Also like his singing. The best decor of a house plane I have ever seen!
woow, amazing story about the life of this guy!!!!!. i like people like that who pursues their dreams and make it true.
YES!
OMG, I love him! And he said motor sickle. ❤️
Royally , a cool cat , original man and following his dreams kudos brother
That brought a tear to my eye . Thanks for living your dream.
My brother and i lived in front of this property. We made many trips to this plane. Its awesome to see it finished.
Roberttanner Roberttanner i wish i leave there if front of him i would never get tired of seeing it.
What happened to this beautiful plane is it still in Ashland City, I would love to see this!! I live in Chapmansboro Tn
What a terrific man! So sad I did not know about this before he passed. RIP
This needs to be on airbnb 😫🥰
I've actually flown over his house, very cool looking from the sky! Makes me kinda want one lol
instaBlaster...
This guy is terrific - he has found simplicity through sticking to his own standards. Hats off to Red.
I never had my own home and always wanted to have a plane. This guy got both.
He followed his dreams to accomplish it. Only fair, I’d say. After all, home is where the heart is.
That's awesome! I really love it. Good for you, Red. :)
so cool! I worked for an airlines. I would love to live in an aircraft!
I would consider this home when I will retire.
CarePeergays
If a stranger goes inside is he consider a home burglary or plain highjackeer?
Both? 😂
Plane hijacker lol 🤣 🤣 🤣
What a beautiful story and Tammi Arender, whoa she's a Gorgeous women xo.
Feel her genuine smile and speech when old mate finishes that song.
Hi from Australia.
He looks more like Kenny Rogers than Kenny Rogers does
Brilliant idea. These old aircraft make good homes
I would totally do this. I would also build a cockpit simulator in the cockpit and place a curved projector screen outside the cockpit windows. and play flight simulator all day in a real aircraft.
That's the dream... :)
...or... you could just learn to fly for real...
Use be a f/a on a DC8 stretch...my favorite aircraft...you go boy!
A quick trip through youtube would tell them that he is not the only one in the US living in a jet.
Robert Drake I think this was made in the 90s though, he could have been the only one back then.
cause youtube and google are always right and true?
You'd be right Robert..some other nuts video of his plane home is what brought me here. One thing I noticed is both these guys seem to be single
The joys of being single are countless, you can always rent companionship if you care to.
T4C lol I saw that video too.
Since he died in 2015, I wonder what became of this plane.
I would love one totally running and intact. I want all the avionics engines everything. Even the APU but I will stick to my Van Hool motorcoach.
Hope you kept the original insulation. I'm told it is 50% more effective than your typical house insulation.
Red is ... a man of my own heart and mind.
How many of tens of thousands of dollars did it cost for the 4 semi truck flat beds to haul it all?
Depends, if you have a buddy with a plane hauling service that owes you a huge favor, it might not have cost much at all. BUT in any case, if he got the plane cheap it sure looks like it's going to be one hell of a big house in the end! Pennies on the dollar really.

Doesn't matter when you write #1 records

This plain house is so beautiful and nice inside I love it the guy make me want to live in a plan too
I'm gonna live in a C-5 Galaxy or a A400M one day. I LOOOOVE airplanes.
Nice. Love these stories.
Absolutely beautiful.
Nice to meet you Red, always liked the song!
There is also a guy in Oragon that has been living in a 727 for 11 years. He's on You Tube also.
Absolutely Wonderful
Its missing a important part >,< the dome at front >,
I think its worth alot if it has no dents
Its also missing the engines and control surfaces
+LJH ye XD
Raymond van Wyk its called a 🐽 NOSE
Suzie Brown yes and no :)
What a neat idea!!! I'm still going to build my tiny home....
First Class!
How much does it cost to move one of those?
Hey, Red, do you know what the MSN - line # of the plane is, operators when it flew, etc? Nice job on the inside, too! Timco sell it to you?
I have 2500 hours on a USAF EC-121 (Lockheed Super Constellation)... I understand EXACTLY how he feels.
i at least hope he turned the cockpit into a kick ass flight simulator
A true American Hero!
Good for you! Great way to use an abandoned plane.
Is this the guy from power nation
I would think the insulation would be great lol
I love that song...:)
So, what happens when the tires eventually deflate and the plane sinks 6 inches onto the structure beneath?
it's a marvelous story ! My impression of that is - only to the external look - the "broken - or cutted nose" is not esthetical. I know there was a place for instrumentations, but, why not to build a "false nose" by PVC, glass fiber or whatelse ! It would be much more pretty.
My dad told me about this idea of using a old airplane and converting it into a house a longtime ago.
Lucky man. I always wake up wishing I was someplace else.
Where the cockpit clip in the video? I wanna see if the cockpit has actual instruments.
I just watched one where a man in Oregon lives in a plane a 747 I think.
How much was the airplane
theres a man in oregon living in a 727 as well.
Which airline did this plane fly for?
I love your house Sir.
That opening theme is like the most local cable TV show ever
This is a cool way to live, afterall people are furnishing shipping boxes!
It’s a DC-8 63, correct ?
This is something I’ve always wanted to do.
When was this filmed? That's an old ass TV in the fireplace room
Awesome Love your home! Love it!
This is my dream!!
1981 ! You were born yet ? ! Looking good !
My plane crash ptsd jumped out. I couldn’t do this unfortunately.
Was this aired in the 90s?
What would it cost to buy a plane, and fix it up to live in it?
Gloria Salsman more than a nice home
The Engineer that figures, when your retired , you don't get enough to live on, I worked legs off, I guess I will have to stay here,
Gloria Salsman you never know, you might can get lucky and find a good deal in an airplane graveyard or something, personally I would rather fix up a cargo container, they ain't exactly cheap, but it would be cheaper than an airplane, and you know exactly what your buying
what was the cost of this ?

He seems like a very happy man.
Oh yes
Amazing!
I really want to find something like a DC-3 and turn it into a flying mobile home. Maybe a Basler BT-67 for some extra speed and range ☺️
That doesn’t really appeal to me. You’ll be sleeping at airports if you made a flying mobile home out of an airplane. They’re noisy, so good luck getting those all important 8 hours. Also, in the wake of 9/11, many airports might see your prolonged presence as a security threat.
AHHH im so jealous!!
the intro/logo alone is so 90's it's gonna be good.
*moment later*
what kind of conversion os this. they're using that poor Dougie as a roof...
I agree I love it !!!!
never - ever wake and wanted to be somewhere else. there's a song in there somewhere.
Beautiful ...
Love the basement!
love this
Aviation is a way of life
It's really nice but I think he could inhance the comfort factor by repainting some places.
how does he keep it climate controlled? heating?
It's like living in a hallway.
Hes house is sooo creative
wow!! I'm superjealous!
Παύλος Μουντρής OP
Congratulations Red. I envy you. Bruce in BC.
Bruce Blake a fellow British Columbian here also envious.
Sadly, he passed away.
Bruce Blake gays
JaydenIV really?
Great guy!
does anyone know if it can be found on google earth
You can find it, yes. He has his exact address posted on his website for people interested in visits. Look for SW Holly Hill Rd west of Portland, in Oregon. You'll see it about halfway down the length of the road.
It's west of Portland, Oregon. You're a long way off, my friend.
Now thats my future dream.
BEAUTIFUL
That crazy guy from Dylan Magaster's channel should take a few notes from Red. lol
karmakameleon113 lol I was totally thinking the same thing.
How does this pass code?
it a plane
master chief 177 I see that, not sure how that answers my question though?

I would rather have seen more of the plane. Her gazing at him adoringly while he sang was too much.
Dude passsed away on 2015.
I want that mechanic to build an active Grumman Albatross house for me
Inspiring :)
Looks like a mobile home inside
