I am so charmed by Taylor Swift...she has a wonderful respect for the artists that touched her as she grew up. Dave Grohl describes her knowing the piano part for one of his tunes at a party at Paul McCartney's...and he needed the help because all the guitars were left handed. She popped into his tune with naming the title and he flipped when he realized she had it nailed.

If you are a fan of Taylor, she is paying homage to one of her idols, and maybe introducing them to some music they were unaware of, and possibly generating them some income from album/song sales. As far as singer/songwriters go, Shawn Colvin is among the greats -- her entire body of work has been phenomenal and I try to see her live anytime I get the opportunity. "A Few Small Repairs" in particular still stands out as a strong & influential album across generations. Taylor certainly has a more well-rounded appreciation for music than she gets credit for.

Shawn is amazing. Was lucky enough to catch her live in a small venue about three years ago. Initially I was pissed she had no backing band.....after a half hour I was glad she didn't have the distraction of a backing band. She has to be seen this way to truly be appreciated : )

She’s unique in NEVER using a band. Although. When I was in 10th grade I went to one of her shows and she broke tradition. It was the anniversary of A Few Small Repairs and she did a 2 month tour where she did the entire album (it was most of the show) and she actually used a band.
